Very true Craig. I've always said, when people ask me why I vote PC (or Conservative), is that the NDP are too weak to run a country. They don't have the right mind-set. You can't go around waving a flag and asking people to stop fighting. It's like giving the police no guns and asking them to go into a crack house and ask them to stop selling crack. Hand out black tape and get the hurses warmed up. The world is a tough place to live. I've always thrown around the meaning of the war in Iraq, why the US and UK invaded. At the time I was against the war, I thought there was too much controversy, I didn't believe the way the US was going about it was the right way. They could have just said "Iraq is a dump, Sadam is a tyrant and a dictator, we are going in to eliminate him and help re-build Iraq to its former glory". I would have been all for it then, but at the time I had internal conflict with my beliefs and right and wrongs of the progression of the war. But, now I think Iraq can become something great and become the center piece of the middle-east. Socialism does have a place in Canada, but you have to be smart in this modern world, you can't hide behind the ignorance's of the past. I'm still going to vote conservative though.

I agree with Slavik44. You must start at a younger age. To put into example: The Hitler Youth were among the most well trained group of people when the war ended, they were some of the last strongholds of the war in 1945. Hitler's idea was to train the youth of Germany into believing in the Nazi way of thinking and to start them off at a younger age. They would go through training in military operation, Nazi party objectives and other Nazi related education. By the end of the war, all of the children that were in the youth movement in the 30's were put into service and fought with vengeance, because of their prior education this is what they believed and fought for it. Now I'm not saying that we go to the lengths of Hitler, but starting at a younger age, and implementing positive beliefs is something that can make our children better. There is also the point of educating families to educate their children into having a positive mind set and encouraging, for example, physical active lifestyles. Having a parent encourage that, would also re-enforce the schooling that they would receive.

http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/story/...Story/National/ The Liberals don't know when to give up. It's good to know they are spending our money wisely.

Exactly Craig, but we seem to only get the information that the media wants to give us. What goes around, DOES come around. Pathetic left-wing....

This is an interesting project. I think that space exploration is one of the most important feats that we can undertake at this moment. The fact that we have been to the moon still blows me away. If we are to move off this planet and explore space and seek out other planets and possible life forms (would I love to find other life, to see all the religious fanatics squirm....). Space exploration is very important and I think we should be allocating more money for this cause.

Let's hope so Craig. It's funny you know. They are the first ones to beg to be imbedded with the troops as they invade Iraq, but now, they are against the war. Hypocrites

The world is going to hell in a hand-basket. This is a pretty sad time ladies and gents. I'm not religious, but I don't give a flying sh*t if there is a nativity scene on every corner, or if there is somebody handing out brochures about Christianity in the malls. In some parts of the world it's one religion or none. You can't go around and try to force people into believing one certain religion, you would be jailed for that. I guess this is the price we have to pay for the diverse and multicultural western world we live in. So, have a good Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, and we can all look forward to the new year...maybe. -Cam

The debate over using tax havens to save you money and avoid government policies has been around for awhile, I would like to examine this way of doing business and the ethics involved. There was a story that I saw on the CBC's Disclosure that examined Canada Steamship Lines and Paul Martin's involvement with it. It went on to bring to light facts and hypocritical polices that Paul Martin implemented during his reign as Finance Minister. The link is to the Disclosure website, and the story that was broadcast on CBC. Sure I do. I hope this was a joke post. This could not be sustainable with our current economy. The costs in what you are describing are huge, and as KK said, the US would see this coming and stop it before it happened. Plus, Canada is not a country that prides itself on a huge military and peddling its influence all over the world. The US has 250 Million people and trillions of dollars to spend. And as KK said, all the people with the money would make like a baby and head out, leaving us with debt as our spending friend...

Rcmp Probe Into Sexual Abuse Case - Possible Fraud
Cameron replied to Moderate Centrist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Very good topic. One case-in-point is the death of Nathanial Jones in Cincinnati and what some media are calling another cop beating death. When the story first broke, it was all about "Another Rodney King..." and "Cops beat man to death..." But as the video and following evidence shows, he attacked the cops and they did what was necessary to defend themselves. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,104563,00.html http://www.chronwatch.com/content/contentD...5212&catcode=10 I think the police do not get enough credit for what they do, they rick their lives for us every day, and people are looking to smear them every chance they get. As in the title of this topic, you can see how people try to smear the police in order to better themselves (or line their pockets with money, and then complain when the government makes cuts to programs...). These cases have been comming to the surface for many years, we've all herd of them. Just last week there was the CBC documentary on the boarding house in New Brunswick and the interviewed testimony of abused men, now their stories are going to be scrutinized even more. I do not want to discredit legitimate cases about people that have been abused, because people have been, and they got the money and apology from the government. I think the police do need to look at cases more closely and give scrutinize more. We are too complacent in this country, we need to grow some teeth! -
Hope so...

Oh the glory! May he win and bring this country into the light of a new government and bring redemption back to calling ourselves Canadian's.... Go for it Mr. Lord!

As always, good points Craig. What can we do to help ourselves? What are some positive points that we could set as goals and try to attain them?

Paul Chretien, Jean Martin ? Confused ?
Cameron replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why vote with the status-quo? Make a difference in this country. The majority of Canadians are probably going to vote liberal next election, because he is going to give them the world from now untill then (and of course, they are going to eat it up like sheep). Then in a year or so they will compalin about the status of Canada, and how the country is going down the drain. Same shit, different leader. -
After watching the swearing-in ceremony for Paul Martin and his cronies, I took note of the mention of god and to abide the rule and law of him ("so help me god" at the end of a declaration, for example). I personally would like to put the notion forward that references to Christianity should not be mentioned in government practices. A government is there to rule under all peoples of a country, with a mix of religious backgrounds. Any reference to god or Christianity should be removed from government speeches and ceremonies to take into account all religions that are practiced in a country, and not to take sides with one.

Agreed...

Canadian Forces Circling The Drain: Study
Cameron replied to SirRiff's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here is a simple solution to saving the military: [ ] Liberal [ ] NDP [X] Conservative For some reason Canadians are still stupid and voting liberal. I don't know why the majority still can't see that they are a weak government. If you want change, you have to change the government. -
This is one of the last free mediums of information sharing. If you attempt to control the internet, it would be the downfall of the modern world. So, here we go again with yesterdays politicians trying to mould the future.
