Hamas Calls for 'Extermination of Jews'
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
Why is it questionable, because it is too much to believe that someone would actually say that? Do you think they just made it up? http://www.xignite.com/xWorldNews.aspx?art...P20061223748006 One of the proposals involved the promotion of Kan'an Ubayd from step C to step A1 and appointing him as the chair of the energy authority so we know he exists. -
I'd love to see the changed you detailed but have seen no indication that they are going ahead with them. You could ask the AG: "I'm pleased at the progress Passport Canada has made in the relatively short time since our 2005 audit. The Agency has clearly directed a major effort toward resolving the problems we had identified. ""

Wow, the media is really giving her a pass on this comment. They would freak if a Tory said that. It's why so many are turning to conservative media outlets. At least there you know what you're getting. Exactly, can you imagine the diatribes about 'fundies' and theocracies etc. and how Harper has the nerve to go to church and all that. I can see it all now.

'A slap in the face' to Quebecers
scribblet replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
More politicking and trying to advance their long term mission of convincing the rest of Canada that Canada really hates Quebeckers . Don't know about anyone else but it really getting tiresome. -
I think most people understand what went on, not to mention that the CPC don't have the votes to stop a committee from making idiots of themselves. At least we know now that Canada's most pressing problem for the oppposition is Shane Doan, thank goodness we can breath a sigh of relief that they don't have any more pressing issues to go on about and that Canada is running well.

Hamas Calls for 'Extermination of Jews'

http://pmw.org.il/bulletins_apr2007.htm don't know myself, only know about the references. Al-Risalah, April 23, 2007 I guess you would have to be able to read Arabic and maybe we don't have access to it: http://www.dahrjamailiraq.com/mideastwire/index.php?id=255 Despite the more than 500 Arabic and Persian news outlets reporting stories from and about the Middle East, there is currently no affordable means for English speakers to gain access to much of this content. Mideastwire.com aims to close this gap by offering a daily email newsletter of concise, translated briefs from and about the Middle East. -
I was going to change this but I think I'll leave it, its about Muslims and religion from a British point of view. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=418_1176494781 Excellent link. Could you transcribe it, post text? I wish, I had to listen and my shorthand skills have lapsed -

I always renew my passport 6 months in advance as some countries (Mexico is one) require that the passport not be close to expiring. Last year I renewed ours as usual and was given a hard time by the little beauracrat about renewing it early. Other than I guess I was fortunate, it took all of about 20 mins. and 7 business days in the mail.

Rights and claims mean nothing without a framework for defining what you are able to protect as opposed to what you are willing to bargain away in exchange. Palestinians have zero claims and rights to Israel - zilch Having said that, he UN took these the claims of both sides into account partitioning the land so both sides had claims met! This UN partition surrounded Jerusalem with Arab land - 55% desert for the Jews - who got 11% of the total Palestine Mandate (including Jordan), which was about even the Arab proportion to the Arabs ( in the total Palestine Mandate 1917) The Arabs rejected this, then made an attempt Jewish land along with the newly granted NATIONAL property, and committ genocide (or at best expell) the Jews. We know that this resulted in them losing some land - kinda like punishment acts of war. Despite t the Arab attempts at genocide and conquest, they seem to think that all of that should be ignored. Saudi Journalist: Arab 'Return' to Israel is a 'Fairy Tale' http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/122174 As for Hezbollah, they are a terrorist org. responsible for hundreds of deaths, they are radical Islamists whos goal is the establishment of an Islamic state encompassing Lebanon and Israel.

No surprise here I suppose, but are they just extremist elements in Palestinian society - it doesn't seem so. According to a May 2003 Pew Global Attitudes Project opinion poll 80% of Pals. agreed with the statement: "The rights and needs of the Palestinian people cannot be taken care of as long as the State of Israel exists." Hamas wants nothing to do with the road map to peace. http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/5/4/114321.shtml?s=ic Hamas Calls for 'Extermination of Jews' The Palestinian militant organization Hamas not only wants the elimination of the state of Israel, but also the extermination of the Jews, according to the group’s newspaper. "The extermination of Jews is Allah’s will and is for the benefit of all humanity, according to an article in the Hamas paper Al-Risalah,” the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports. "The author of the article, Kan’an Ubayd, explains that the suicide operations carried out by Hamas are being committed solely to fulfill Allah’s wishes. Furthermore, Allah demanded this action, because ‘the extermination of the Jews is good for the inhabitants of the worlds.’” -snip- "Be certain that America is on its way to disappear. America is wallowing [in blood] today in Iraq and Afghanistan. America is defeated and Israel is defeated . . . Allah, take hold of the Jews and their allies. Allah, take hold of the Americans and their allies . . . Allah, count them and kill them to the last one and don’t leave even one.” © NewsMax 2007. All Rights Reserved.

Dion looks even more gutless every day as he caved to the clique of Quebec MPs who wanted to make political hay from the Doan non-affair. The CPC were weak in their response, but the Bloc's performance yesterday was predictable - using such tactics to stoke resentments in Quebec - while Liberal and NDP performances just - well disgusting. The CPC should have called a halt to the kangaroo court that the Liberals and Bloc have brought the House down to such a low level.

What is funny is how there has been little comment on May's statement: "We have a moral obligation to our Lord and Father to ensure we do not destroy the creation that was given to us. Through the power of our Lord and Jesus Christ, we can meet this moral obligation." Can you imagine the uproar if a CPC MP had said that. If it is wrong in the eyes of some for non elected people fervently defending traditional marriage and see it as a moral threat, it is also wrong for Elizabeth May to use the pulpit to do so.
-
What is unconscionable is for MPs to cast aspersions against a proud Canadian, based on nothing more than unproven and highly questionable allegations.

Poor Jack Layton - the voice in the wilderness

Ottawa Citizen editorial: There is some good news out of Afghanistan about lives saved and hope regained. Despite the many problems that continue to make life a struggle in that country, mothers and babies are healthier than they were before the NATO intervention. The fact that women are getting healthier in Afghanistan is a sign that women are also gaining more freedom. Things are getting better there; not quickly enough by anyone's measure, but they are getting better. This study discredits any argument that under the Taliban there was at least order and stability. There is no justification for a regime that watched dispassionately as babies, and often their mothers, died in delivery - Ctz page A14 -
Identity theft has been a serious concern for Canadians, we all know how it goes. We all know the story, and the hardest part is how it can take years for a "victim" of identity theft to clean up their credit records. When this happens credit bureaus don't correct their data but continue to trash innocent reputations. In the U.S. you can obtain your credit report and score instantly for free, while in Canada, you have to pay money to obtain the same information. I'd like to see the Feds introduce criminal legislation making it an offence to issue a false credit report in cases of identity theft. This could apply to banks and all credit credit reporting agencies while putting the onus companies to prove that their records are accurate. Maybe they should be subjected to criminal prosecution it they don't correct them in a timely manner.

If The Taliban Didn't Have Jack They'd have to invent him. http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/ Today in Question Period, Jack Layton, Leader of the NDP, stood up and suggested that we should be disclosing national secrets/security measures in public courts. Nothing like simply giving information to the terrorists. One has to wonder just how easy he wants to make it for the terrorists to kill our troops…

Apparantly we need more cos the CPC must be doing something right to get the oppositions knickers in a knot and rehash old news.
-
It wouldn't matter how bad the Liberals were or are, or how good or bad the CPC is, they can do no right in the eyes of Liberal partisans. I wonder what plans the dithering Liberals had if any. I doubt that the Liberals or any other party could handle the increase in applications, something like over 21,000 a day now. How many people would they have to hire to process them and get the backlog cleared up in say, a month? I guess 500 new employees isn't enough, but if they hire more and the backlog is over, then what do we do with them - fire them? The AG also said the gov't faces a complex undertaking that will need the full cooperation of other government organizations at both the federal and the provincial and territorial levels. You don't say!
-
Yes it will, but they have hired more people, but then you et al will complain about a bloated gov't and all that - they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Its a fact that the previous Liberal government did squat about the observations made by the Auditor General in 2005 while the CPC have made significant progress. What was it the Auditor General said: "Another area where globalization has a significant impact is passport services. In 2005, we reported that the Passport Office (now Passport Canada) was struggling to meet higher expectations for security and growing demands for service. Since then, it has dealt with an unprecedented demand, issuing over three million passports in 2005-06. High-demand pressures will continue, given the more stringent U.S. requirements for passports. I'm pleased at the progress Passport Canada has made in the relatively short time since our 2005 audit. The Agency has clearly directed a major effort toward resolving the problems we had identified. "

Sheez who saw this coming huh - this passport thing came right out of the blue. Anyone paying for a vacation without having a passport in their hands must be a tad slow on the uptake, emergencies do happen, and often they will process them quickly but it seems something like over 300,000 applications were received in January alone. But yep, its all the CPC's fault cos you know - we've only known about it for the last few months. Sure - this has been years coming and the date has been moved back a few times. No-one's fault but their own.
-
I agree. Thank you for being honest and answering the question. Harper apologized. Its too bad that political parties feel that they have to pander to Quebec out of neccessity.
-
I'm with you on this one, people have known for a long time about passport requirements and all of a sudden its the conservative's fault - only a real liberal partisan with blinders on could come up with that one, after all the Liberals knew what was coming too and did nothing. Actually they are hiring about 500 more people to handle the increase from around $14,000 applications day to 22,000, but hey - we don't want to hire more people and add to a a bloated government do we ?
-
Maybe not to try, gradually.
