  1. Gee, and here I thought only Tories thought this way Dion on has suspended this guy, but was it front page news for days, don't think so, if it had been a Tory, it would have been plastered all over for days screaming how racist he was. http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/p...ka-remarks.aspx
  2. Not true at all, Harper nor the CPC does not and never has modeled any policy after Republican policies, absolute nonsense.
  3. Please show me where conservative has said such a thing.l but don't let facts get in your way.
  4. Of course they wouldn't have been registered do we really think that all those gunslingers in Toronto are going to stop before they shoot and say ' oh gee, I didn't register this, can't use it'
  5. Agreed, this whole board has become bored ...same old same old repetition. I'd like to respond but don't have the time, when I'm back from vacation I'll give it a try. Maybe there will be some other topics worth replying to as well. cheers
  6. Looks like the NCC is getting in on this - and rightly so - think I'll send them a donation http://nationalcitizens.ca/blog/2008/07/09...n-tax/#comments
  7. We don`t know if that is entirely true, nobody is 100% popular at anytime. However she is definitely leaving because of severe health problems, so maybe you need to give this one a rest.
  8. You make a good point... I would say that some of the posters, (not all) are party hacks - simply Liberal shills, they are here simply to smear the non Liberal parties, and score points for the Liberals. This is a large website, blogs and sites such as this are becoming more relevant all the time - the hope is that their arguments might sway some undecideds over the to the Liberals.
  9. Which one I think they should tax the hot air coming from Dion too - and didn't Mulroney say the GST would be revenue neutral?
  10. True, but it's pretty hypocritical of them to go after a blogger for copyright infringement - double standards anyone.
  11. Sure it will.... http://www.theshiftygreen.ca/ better keep your BS meters running too
  12. It's a secret, not telling until during the election - meanwhile, working on those bumper stickers
  13. It's a good one, worth repeating - I think we should have some bumper stickers made ASAP
  14. We shouldn't have to, besides I doubt that most of could afford a new hybrid or whatever right away. The sticker shock for utilities etc. would do us in, we can't afford it, even if there is a rebate at the end of the year, how do we pay for the punitive increases we'll see on everything. Might as well have a bumper sticker - Vote Liberal - Freeze in the Dark http://www.torontosun.com/Comment/2008/06/...968111-sun.html While Stephane Dion promises the Liberals' proposed $15-billion environmental tax would provide riches for the poor and tax cuts for all, he fails to mention consumers in most parts of the country would be in for some shocking electricity bills. In Ontario, for instance, government figures show Dion's plan would add at least 20% to the overall annual cost of generating electricity across the province. The impact would be as bad or even worse in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and much of the Maritimes, regions with generating stations powered by fossil fuels -- coal, oil and gas. - By coincidence, the one province where electricity bills won't be touched by Dion's plan is the one with all that hydro power -- Quebec. Imagine that cont...
  15. It 's an effort to track money laundering. I don't have a problem with it, as long as the Realtor keeps the info. secure and safe - too much identity theft these days.
  16. I kinda think most of us would recognize a 'dirty movie' when we saw it, porn is porn. I wouldn't go for taxpayer funding of what they call 'soft porn' either.
  17. He's not doing it out of love for the taxpayers, he's doing it because if he doesn't accept public funding, there are no spending limits. He obviously expects to raise more than McCain (not Cain - ) so can out spend him. He's just Just another fibbing politician, and if someone says, I'm going to be honest with you - does that mean normally they are not? http://www.torontosun.com/Comment/Commenta...21/5943616.html cont...

  19. Thought you might like to see a reply from Liberal MP Marlene Jennings I acknowledge receipt and thank you for your recent e-mail in which you express your comments regarding Bill C-362, An Act to amend the Old Age Security Act (residency requirement) and please be assured that I have duly taken note of your correspondence. 20. Typical Liberal policy - bring in immigrants who are a drain on society, the purpose of immigration is to bring in people who will benefit the new country - it is not a world-wide welfare program.
  21. Everyone receives it regardless of income, but it it's clawed back if you make over a certain amount.. GIS is a supplement for people on very low incomes, they have to qualify. The OAS is paid for out of general revenues, we don't pay additional premiums for it, however, there was a time during the sixties when there was a premium/tax for it, I think it lasted for around 3 - 4 years. Most people don't look at it as welfare, they figure they've paid taxes all their lives, this is one of the benefits, and I don't have a problem with it being clawed back if you make a lot of money. It is still not right that people who sponsor elderly parents should expect the taxpayer's to help pay for them. I've asked around and no one was aware of this until now.
  22. You don't need very much to sponsor them, even so many people end up defaulting on their obligations. However, this bid to get more money for aging parents is nothing but a grab for taxpayer dollars, it's wrong. Has anyone else heard of this bill before, it got to 3rd reading with little publicity it seems. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...60216/20060217/ The Immigration department processes some 60,000 applications every year, from Canadian citizens or permanent residents who want to sponsor a relative or spouse to come to Canada. Government figures obtained by CTV estimate up to 14 per cent of those sponsors abandon their responsiblities and default on the agreement. That's some 8 thousand new immigrants each year, left without the financial support they are entitled to. Often, these people end up being assisted by Canadian taxpayers. "Why are they (Immigration) not doing anything?" asked Suter. "Are they only interested in people coming here, then once they come here they are on their own?" CTV discovered the Immigration department doesn't do much, in fact, to make deliquent sponsors pay. The department simply doesn't let them sponsor anyone else. Citizenship and Immigration leaves it up to the provinces to try to go after those who are in default, but that only happens if the person they sponsored goes on provincial social assistance.
  23. No way should this pass, why should we pay old age to people who have never contributed to the country in any way.. I'm writing now... New bill would see immigrant seniors receiving Old Age Security payments sooner http://etobicokeguardian.com/parkdale/news/article/49297 BY MIKE ADLER June 3, 2008 03:37 PM cont...
  24. I agree with publicly funded education, at no time have I seen the CPC suggest that we should not fund education, so don't make silly statements like that. I just don't agree with paying for lifestyle choices. If you can't afford em, don't have em, kids that is. Granted people come upon hard times and need assistance, which is why we have a social safety net, but there is no way we need cradle to grave nanny state. I don't have a problem with the CPC plan and as we know, the Liberals think it would only be spent on "beer and popcorn' anyway, better the gov't tells us how and when to spend our money I suppose. Income splitting would help towards making a decision to use daycare, which is, a parental choice.
