  1. So if somebody takes issue with a Muslim custom they are automatically anti-Muslim, but you are merely pointing out how strange a certain Jewish custom appears? What is the basis for the double-standard?
  2. Great news for the Conservatives for two reasons. 1. More of the same old same old from the LIberals shows their unfitness to govern. 2. Rae is still the most formidable potential Liberal leader.
  3. What are the *legal claims* involved with calling right wing parties: scary, nazis, GW Bush's toadies etc, etc, etc? Politics are dirty if you are going to play dirty it is pretty weak when peopole cry about the other guys playing dirty.
  4. Are you serious? Do you think the only reason the Republicans are going to lose is Iraq? Let me lay it out for you. The Republicans had this certain Congressman who went so far as to sponsor legislation against child porn. Then this Congressman was found out to be sending sexually suggestive text messages to underage congressional pages. This information was released publicly within a month of the midterm elections. Then it turns out that the Republican leadership knew about the text messages for over a year. before this came out the Republicans were better than 50/50 to retain control of the house. So why don't you give credit where it is due. (Oh yeah, the now ex-congressman is Mark Foley.)
  5. Hmmm Grehatrick. Yet again, baiting, insulting other posters and nothing is said. Seems to me that your special status on this board needs to be explained. Or is that too "weak-minded" of me?
  6. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The only potential Liberal leader who can win in the spring is Rae.
  7. If you're gonna pull grehatrick's tactic of ignoring posts you don't like, I'll just keep putting them up. jdobbin we get that you are against the mission. But you *always* say public opinion is turning against it even when the evidence runs contrary. Believe what you will, but I think you admitted how weak your argument is with your "Despite the upsurge..." Canadians are favouring the mission more and more. The number of causalties will fall after the move from Panjawi is completed.
  8. Your first link had no evidence supporting your statment of how strongly farmers support the Wheat Board. The second was from the Wheat Boards web site. You finish this post of with a comment about the Conservatives getting their "asses handed to them". What exactly are you referring to in that? Please provide evidence of the massive level of support for farmers you claim from a source that might be considered objective in this debate.

  10. He could offer federal public servants a day off each week without pay. Wouldn't Federal Rae Days be awesome? Rae ran a deficit of just under $10 Billion for a provincial government in 1991. Presided over the worst recession in Ontario since the Great Depression. Contributed to support for the NDP almost disappearing in Ontario. The NDP went from their most seats ever Federally in 1988 to *6% support* in Ontario in the 1993 Federal election. All that being said, I think he'll do better than expected in Ontario if he wins the leadership.
  11. Bibs, I think you are being a little optimisitc if you think that Iggy is going to come out of the Qada fiasco in better shape then he went in. Do remember that I hope he wins the leadership. All the better for the Conservatives!
  12. Grehatrick is just a way of recognizing the special status you have on the board. In all cases if it wasn't an issue to you it wouldn't have been mentioned. Rightwing political correctness? wtf? Where was the *barrage* of outrage? Harper said that amost all of the Liberal candidates are anti-Israel. He did take time out to mention that Brison and Volpe are exceptions. A tendency to mention exceptions and be fair that you should learn. The George Bush analogy is purely weak and false. Trying and bring up the boogeyman to paint all Conservatives as bad? You really shouldn't be allowed to spread such hate on a message board affiliated with a publicly-funded university. Why should tax payer dollars go to a site that allows you to continually break the rule to spread your lies and hatred about the Prime Minister and his party? Please do start the swearing again. Yet again another example of your special status. But given your quick edit last time I'll make sure to post them so you can't change your posts.
  13. w&w to be fair Grehatrick only does that when talking about the Conservative Government, Party and/or Stephen Harper. When it comes to anything done by the Liberals or NDP the double-standard comes out. Any other poster with Grehatrick's history of abuse, baiting and trolling wouldn't definitely have been dealt with. But such is life. A message board associated with a publicly-funded university shouldn't be expected to be neutral or apply the rules evenly. Should it?
  14. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_war And breaking them is what is described as a "war crime": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crime Hezbollah committed them as well, and all the same respected human rights organizations that have identified war crimes by Israel have also fingered Hezbollah. There's a rightwing political correctness that lashes out at the truth when it's applied to Israel, unfortunately. You know grehatrick you were being fair and reasonable until that last sentenced. Do you truly think this douible-standard only applies to conservatives? Wouldn't Jack Layton's support of Hezbollah be an example of leftwing political correctness lashing out at the truth? tsk tsk grehatrick you appeared to be having a good morning.
  15. Hmmm... You started this thread and have posted here seven times yet haven't provided *any* support for your assertions. Where did you get this number from? Seems like you are just expecting people to accept your figures. Pardon me for not doing so.
  16. Look at the sh*t the Liberals have pulled over the last 30 years due to *overly-principled* leaders from the right. Joe Clark is directly responsible for having Constitution Act 1982 foisted on all Canadians and the NEP foisted on Albertans. Had he been a little less principle and made small concessions to the creditistes his February 1980 budget would have passed and Trudeau would have never taken that famous walk in the snow. Preston Manning's decision to not go after Chretien for the early election call in 1997 helped Chretien eke out that majority. (Background - many people saw the early election call as very cynical given the Red River Flood earlier in the year.) Had Manning pushed harder at making that an election issue he might have picked up the five needed seats to deprive Chretien of a majority. Joe Clark again after he became leader again in 1998. What if he hadn't been so adamant about opposing the Reformers. If he had embraced the United Alternative we could very well have been spared the last six years of the Liberals 12 1/2 years in power.
  17. If I could be guaranteed that all leaders will tell the truth then I would obviously prefer leaders who told the truth (as he sees it). But I wouldn't want a leader I supported to tell the truth if it was going to lead to his losing because the other guy lied. Humans being what they are there is such a thing as stupid honesty. Let's look at Kim Campbell for example. -There really wasn't much likelihood of an improvement in the job situation from where she was in 1993. -47 days is too short a time to have a serious discussion of social issues. Both honest. Both stupidly honest.
  18. As a Conservative supporter I hope Iggy keeps telling (his version of) the truth. Unfortunately, he might do himself so much damage with his *truth-telling* to cost himself the nomination.
  19. How can he lead the Liberals if he isn't going to "just say what will help get him elected"? Honestly the Canadian right spent 12 1/2 years winning such moral victories. If the Liberals want to choose a leader who thinks this is a good way to go I'm sure Harper is all for it. This kinda reminds me of the reign of Stock Day.
  20. Who is advising Ignatieff? Does he really think he is helping his chances in the next election *IF* he wins the leadership? Keeping this story alive only helps the Conservatives. Good work Igster!
  21. Uhhh, ok. btw, why did you capitalize Next Election?
  22. Grehatrick something tells me the Conservatives have been working on it for more than a month a couple months. Ambrose has probably been working on the plan since she was appointed to cabinet.
  23. People have used the Nazi analogy against the Conservative Party, and its predecessors, for years. Hard to imagine how ignorant people can be. Sad thing is they really thing they are justified in spreading such hateful garbage.
  24. Seems to me he somehow thinks he is being witty by changing the party name. Typical. Turn a thread about the Liberal leadership race into a lame attempt to run down the Government. So .... back on topic. The Liberals are really hurting themself with the Jewish community. Typical run/sit in opposition from the left. Well that won't get them back in power in the spring.
  25. No to your question. It just means a general inclination to see things from that country's point of view. That doesn't mean you always have to agree with them, but just that you give them the benefit of the doubt.
