Drea: Where did this quote come from? Pretty easy to provide evidence *proving* the Conservatives are anti-whatever if you pull the evidence out of thin air.
-
Calling my actions 'ridiculous' hmmmm. Can't the man make up his mind? hmmmm. Is drea going to respond to my post, or is it simply easier to change the topic?
-
Uhhh, the post I responded to was an 'anti-Harper' post. (Post #25) It directly attacked him for 'switching parties'. Are you saying that people should have free rein to attack the PM if they do it off the topic of the thread. blame your buddy jdobbin for changing the topic of the thread but go on with your 'the Conservatives are fearing' everything point. I'm debating the points made in a post. I have responded to your questions about my posts. quid pro quo?
-
From Rex's column today. Has Rex ever gone campaigning? I think this explains his popularity on the CBC. His pronouncements seem reasonable and plays to the stereotypes of Canadians but have zero basis in reality. I've been doorknocking many, many, many times -going back a decade or so- and never ever was told not to go between 2 and 5.

Tempest in a teapot.

There is clearly a strong dislike for Harper. Some claim they don't "hate" him. Some claim they don't find him "scary". All seems like a way of avoiding the subject when you are attacking the man on meaningless, ridiculous things. So I'll re-post *with one change* the post drea responded to, you ignored, yet you used Drea's response to attack me on. Me thinks you ignore my posts because they point out the flaws in your thinking and expose your anti-Harperism. Somebody open to debate would respond. Somebody here just to attack the PM would ignore it.

Hmmm, there is that double standard I was referring to. Which children are you talking about Gerry?
-
Drea, just in case you missed the question. Since you said that "Canadian women" will vote accordingly. Can you provide a scenario of even ONE female voter who supported the Conservatives in January who will switch their votes to the Liberals over this issue? If they voted Conservative they are either indifferent or leaning towards Peter MacKay over the ongoing spat between him and Belinda. This is a tempest in a teapot. The only women outraged by this are the one's who woud never vote Conservative anyways....
-
Now he's scary because he can't make up his mind? Get your story straight. You go from calling the Reform to the Alliance to the Conservatives all the same party to badgering Harper for 'switching' between them. Here's a good lesson if a party CHANGES IT'S NAME and a member goes along with the new party the member isn't really switching parties, because the original one doesn't exist anymore. This really goes to show how utterly weak the anti-Harper attacks have become. Harper can't make up his mind? From former supporters of Mr. Dithers no less.
-
I think they are sorely misguided on how much this is going to *help* them. Can anybody provide a scenario of even ONE female voter who supported the Conservatives in January who will switch their votes to the Liberals over this issue? If they voted Conservative they are either indifferent or leaning towards Peter MacKay over the ongoing spat between him and Belinda. This is a tempest in a teapot. The only women outraged by this are the one's who woud never vote Conservative anyways....

You gotta love the good ole double-standards eh?
-
Maybe you didn't use it because you were busy doing something else....
-
"You already have her." Is being nasty and spiteful? Wow. Very, very interesting double-standard there.
-
"You already have her." is the only thing that is audible on the tape.
-
Uhhh, the only thing that is "clearly audible" on the tape is MacKay saying. "You have her." He denied calling Stronach a dog. He never did and this nose-stretcher about the "You have her" quote is pretty weak. You aren't a moderator. Not your place to enforce the rules. You still aren't a moderator. Still not your place to enforce the rules. OK.
-
He motioned to her seat. Wow - that is now definitive proof that he called her a dog?! It is sooooo sad how much of a stretch this story has become. Liberals really are desperate.
-
A big difference than winning because of Daddy's chequebook.
-
Really? Are there any studies showing this before and after the implementation of PR in the same country?
-
Here's what was said on the news tonight. Liberal MP to MacKay: "What about your dog?" MacKay: "You already have her." That was what is being interpreted as MacKay calling Stronach a dog. whatever

Here is the link. Best quote from the piece: Canadians aren't willing to accept huge deficits anymore. Bob is going to have to prove he gets that.

It was the province the party did the strongest in during the January election. Here's why. The Liberals and NDP hold Alberta in such contempt that some people looking for a protest vote wanted a fresh and different party to "lend" their vote to. The Green's success in Alberta was due as much to disgust with the Liberals and NDP as it was to their actual policies.

Bob Rae out ahead in poll of Canadians
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What do you consider to be an insult? I was directly addressing your first post and said that more explicitly in my response. WRITING IN CAPS DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY LESS OBVIOUS YOU ARE ATTACKING WHILE IGNORING WHAT I AM ACTUALLY SAYING. If the Liberals really thought that it wasn't enough time they could have voted against the motion and had the power to negotiate a longer timeline for debating the issue. A quarter of their caucus voted for it. By sending troops in the first place, and their caucus so divided on the mission when a vote came up for extending the mission. Their 'strong opposition' to the mission now is textbook cynical. -

We have been asked to avoid the personal insults, please respect the moderator's wishes. I was referering to the debate and vote on extending the mission by two years. The Conservative motion received 24 votes from Liberals or the motion would have failed and there would have been another election. Those are the Liberals that shouldn't have voted for it. Why would the Conservatives take responsibility and give the Liberals a free ride? -
Here's a vquote from the caucus chair, Rahim Jaffer: Tough thing with blog sites, easily edited to remove offending material. Asking for proof that Garth didn't respect caucus confidentiality is pretty easy to do. Could be that confidential information has been leaked, but still isn't publicly available. So by 'painting' the Conservatives as out of line for not providing support is pretty weak. Regardless Garth is gone and the Conservatives are better off without him.

Nobody forced an opposition members to vote for the mission. They made a calculated decision to support the mission. That's the foundation of democracy. If the Liberals didn't support extending the mission why did they vote for it?
