Paul Wells said it best. Basically Iggy isn't going to be stopped on the convention floor the way things stand now. In order for anybody to stop Iggy one of the three tier-two candidates (Rae/Dion/Kennedy) needs to step aside and back one of the other two because they feel it is that important that Iggy be stopped. Doing so would probably be enough to stop Iggy and make whoever stepped aside the front runner to be the next, next leader five or six years down the road. Rae's a little too old for that. Wouldn't want to lay the groundwork for a run in his mid 60's. So it's either Kennedy or Dion. *Maybe* Kennedy but that would require a lot of forward thinking.

Stephen Harper using the troops AGAIN.

What are you saying? That Harper shouldn't have extended the mission? Or he was wrong to put the extension to a vote in Parliament? -
No way for exactly how Chretien/Martin turns out. Whoever wins won't want the other to be seen as a leader in waiting. Besides the new leader has to be able to commit through the end of the decade. Don't really think either of them want to wait that long to take another crack at leadership.

Answer the question Gerry: What would you have said if Harper had extended the mission *without* going to Parliament? -
While I wish you are right I'm not sure. Seems like Rae would attract a lot of NDP supporters especially in Ontario and BC. Rae would also avoid a lot of the mistakes on the campaign trail that Kennedy and Iggy would make.

Nope, no attack there. Thanks to killjoy no more PMs from you. Guess you can't PM me anytime you wish. Answer the question Gerry: What would you have said if Harper had extended the mission *without* going to Parliament? -
Latest results are... Ignatieff - 1205 - 30% Rae - 788 - 19.6% Dion - 679 - 16.9% Kennedy - 673 - 16.7% Hmmm, so Iggy is the leader. Any idea who people would rally around if an Anybody But Iggy movement starts? My gut tells me Kennedy. Rae has too much baggage to be the anti-Iggy choice. Dion, hmmm, three straight leaders from Quebec is a bit much even for the Liberals.

If you wanted to answer the question you have had 15 opportunities to do so again and put an end to it. You don't want to answer because it will point out your hypocrisy and hatred for Harper. Please don't PM me. Attacking me like you continue to do on the threads is one thing. But PMing is reserved for people you wish to communicate privately with. I have no desire to communicate privately with you. Ever. Thank you. -

As long as you continue to avoid answering the question I know that the vast majority of posters here don't think I look foolish. Soooooo.... Answer the question Gerry: What would you have said if Harper had extended the mission *without* going to Parliament? I do appreciate you admitting to planning on breaking the rules. *If* the thread gets locked that should get you a warining. But you have gotten away with so much you should be ok. -
Of course you interpreted it in the way that puts the Conservatives in the worst possible light. It's only a game because of the way you are twisting everything. Every other poster here said to give it a little time. But you are conducting your witch hunt here and now. You provide evidence that contintues to conflict with your Harper is evil view of the world... Your attacks on Harper are the true silly game.

Kennedy is creeping up on Rae and holding his lead over Dion. Ignatieff - 953 - 30% Rae - 602 - 18.9% Kennedy - 557 - 17.5% Dion - 513 - 16.1% Sounds a little desperate for the fourth place candidate to try and woo delegates committed to the third place candidate.
-
Dion *has* slipped into fourth. Ignatieff - 915 - 30% Rae - 584 - 19.1% Kennedy - 532 - 17.4% Dion - 498 - 16.3% About 2/3rds of the meetings have reported. OMG imagine if Kennedy could slip into second while winning less than 10 delegates in Quebec?

What do you mean by *curry favour*? It's in our best interest to get along with our biggest trading partner and most important military ally. -

Again there is the language of diplomacy. Stay the hell out won't do it. Harper is far more likely to be successful than Martin was. You won't see Conservative MPs stomping on GW dolls. -
I was replying to another poster. To answer your question the PM technically has no power over the GG. The GG can choose to do whatever she sees fit. The PM technically *asks* the GG to call an election whenever he chooses to do so.
