Liberals, Tories in dead heat
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's the beauty of the "Harper is scary" crowd they remember things that didn't even happen. Even the Liberals didn't try and claim something so patently false. What Harper did propose, which the Liberals tried to capitalize on, thankfully handing us the win, was as follows. Harper proposed stationing a small task force with the specific job of dealing with emergencies in bases in, and close to, all of Canada's major cities. Somehow this becaome "soldiers ... in our streets ... with guns ... we aren't making this up." The Liberals made a tragic error in this won. The hardcore anti-Harper people would believe this. But it wouldn't matter because they would never vote for Harper no matter what. The swing voters were turned off by it and gave Government to the Conservatives as a result. -
Could be, but something tells me more than just leaking budget material would have caused this. I asked one of Garth's caucus colleagues about Garth speaking out right after the cabinet was named. The MP made a very good point. All MPs like talking to the media and getting their names in the paper, what made Garth special that he didn't have to be a team player?

Brampton-Springdale MP Ruby Dhalla Raccist!
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Please don't badger me ... or my friends. -
It is an insult that isn't allowed in the rules but will probably be let slide. You guess the reason.... (Background is it was an insulting acronym used to belittle the Canadian Alliance in its early days of formation.) The party doesn't exist, never ran an election under that name ... yet lefties won't let it die.

Didn't see anybody mention the Taliban The huge tax increases, deficits, damage to our economy, weakening Canada's position within NAFTA... -
Brampton-Springdale MP Ruby Dhalla Raccist!
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Reminds of a discussion I had with some friends who work on the Hill about Dhalla. "Beautiful face ... dumptruck arse." Do we really need more people with big butts in Parliament? -
Just goes to show what a pain in the butt Garth is. Also shows how much stronger a leader Harper is than Mr. Dithers was. Anybody remember Carolyn Bennett? Something tells me a spring election is definitely in the offing.

Liberals, Tories in dead heat
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The recent election's polls predicted accurately that the Tories would win. The 'dead heat' was five weeks before voting day. The last major published poll in 1993, the Gallup poll three days before voting day, called the PC, Reform and NDP percentage of the voted exactly. Only missed the Libs by two points and the BQ by three. What was your point? -
Liberals, Tories in dead heat
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ahhh, but you ignored it all together and never even mentioned it. If one were to believe your posts it would appear that the Conservatives have been in freefall in the opinion polls, Harper does *everything* Bush tells him and the 'social conservative' agenda is the driving force behind the party. In reality the polls have been mixed, Harper and Bush have had their disagreements and there has been no social policy legislation put forth by the Government. -
Does anyone actually support Rae?
Ricki Bobbi replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Did nobody else notice that NAOMI KLEIN came 11th????? Who the f*ck chose the 100 people for this list? Shouldn't Iggy be ashamed he finished 26 SPOTS below NAOMI KLEIN????? No bias in that list....no. -
Liberals, Tories in dead heat
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There you go. The Conservatives are exactly where they were on election night. With countless hours of free positive coverage the Liberals have gained a whole 1.8%. Wow, how much will they actually fall when the leader is picked??? -
Liberals, Tories in dead heat
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No it won't last. The Liberals are getting a lot of attention because of the leadership race. Aren't they Canada's Natural Governing Party and they are celebrating a tie? whatever ... Wait until they have a leader than the warts will start to show. -
Strategic Counsel: Rae would do best against Harper
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We actually agree for once? I've said it many times before. Rae is the only candidate in the leadership race who can beat Harper. The majority of Ontarians will hold Rae's time as PM against. But they don't need a majority of votes in Ontario to get a majority of seats there. Chretien won 101 of the 103 seats in Ontario with a little less than 50% of the vote in 1997. The poll is actually good news for the Conservatives. Rae will becaome the focus of attacks from the other leadership candidates. Maybe it becomes Anybody But Bob instead of Anybody But Iggy on the convention floor. Hopefully! -
Hey, do you have some examples of what would be 'acceptable' areas in which to cut spending from your point of view?

Climate-change 'skeptics' hopeful PM accepts view
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Anybody opposing your viewpoint is pointless Gerry. Please post some information to prove the poster wrong. You are simply taking up valuable bandwidth by never ceasing to attack the Prime Minister and treating everything you say as gospel truth that does not need to be supported. -
Haven't we already seen threads whinging about cuts to government programs from the minimal program cuts that have been implemented so far? My goodness the whining over the big cuts will be something to see.

Welcome to the board. Actually Belinda he provided just as much support for his assertion about Harper as you did about yours. *scary* *scary* *scary* needs a little more support than just your sayin' Let's provide some evidence, eh? Just goes to show the laziness of the Canadian left. All you gotta say is Republican and that automatically discredits any Canadian politician in their eyes.

At least you had the common sense to try and back of your off-base statements about Trudeau. I'd take Rae in a bet over Iggster. (I'd use that whole "if I were a betting man" crap, but I gamble all the time. Just don't see the logic in making a bet with some anonymous random online. How would I collect?) -
"Labrador communities fear losing net connection"...
Ricki Bobbi replied to Rovik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Maybe the misconception is due to the conflicting way you are presenting the facts. For example.... Don't really think somebody could do a course with only having access to the Iternet 15 to 30 minutes at a pop. So your first quote makes it look like home access. If it definitely isn't than that first quote is very misleading. -

Damn me having a Conservative for an MP. Won't buy my vote... -

Oh no he funded the military? What is the context of that statement? Yes, I'll be you a gazillion dollars that trudeau wouldn't have been Bush's right hand man after 9/11. What a strange proposition that bet of yours is. -

How right wing Trudeau was? wtf are you talking about? The War Measures Act was the only thing that could be stretched to be right-wing. It was necessary given the times and one of the only good things Trudeau ever did. Top 35 of the world's greatest minds? Man won't it suck when he is responsible for Harper winning a majority. -
Bah! Strategically a shrewd choice for Rae. The CBC is bound to jump on the bandwagon of whoever wins the Liberal leadership. They'll run it as Rae's being in touch with the acerage Joe. Rick Mercer is representative of your average Canadian ... isn't he?

given your repeated, inaccurate, references to my "boss" it's only fair. Or are you the only one allowed to ask questions, and make comments along those lines?

Und I aplaud youre spellin' You ever congratulate somebody for not confirming your narrow-minded world? Do tell us about this "job" of yours?
