  1. If you read this article, then you have at least enough attention span to absorb that visas can be a complicated thing. Doubtful to me that Hyundai intended to break the law. https://www.politifact.com/article/2025/sep/10/south-korea-work-visa-immigration-raid-hyundai-ICE/
  2. That's a great first step. It would have to come from Centre right and Centre left public groups: A list of agreed upon tag words that civil society degrees to stay away from, even if someone believes they are apt. After all, It's impolite to call someone a bastard, one even if they are one.
  3. Yeah, I don't know either.
  4. So because Kathy Griffin made a joke, the violence is due to liberals? Weak. Mass shootings happen across the board, politically. If you want to blame one side, you might yourself be a culture warrior.
  5. Of course not, because you User are the ultimate arbiter of the truth. 🙂
  6. 1. What about for saying there are two genders ? Or Israel is apartheid ? Or mooning someone ? 2. Yes, by what you see as their gender but not what they see - regardless of your conception of facts. 3. I'm not, which is why I had to try to frame #2 objectively and not go down the path where you unilaterally declare that offending someone is ok based on facts...
  7. Somebody got fired for making fun of the shooting. Free speech ? People call trans people by their birth gender and don't care. People say f*** your feelings. For sure some of it is online culture. You wouldn't say it in real life. And for sure unhinged people are triggered. One thing I also think, and a lot don't agree: both sides like to shirk and deflect, play word games and point fingers... I'm guilty too...
  8. I pointed out that people joked about the attack on Paul Pelosi and only got deflection. So this rule needs to apply to EVERYONE. "it would have been nice if you didn't condone the incitement of violent attacks"
  9. If the group is 'the left' then it's amorphous, which is a barrier to progress IMO.
  10. Is this directive for a specific person or ? Because both sides are citing extreme claims as evidence that something is "wrong" ... with the OTHER side. I don't think expecting an amorphous collective of types is going to band together specifically to apologize to you or anyone. But your heart is in the right place as you (and others) are looking to de-escalate Maybe we can act locally ? Like how about folks on here agree to not mock or diminish physical violence against their opponents, agree that that is unacceptable and will not post on the topic hot after it happens ? Just a thought. I WAS going to include violent language but let's get real.
  11. Protest in Korea... My guess on this hasn't changed: -Immigration policy is complicated, and ICE was dispatched for quick effectiveness and shock not attention to detail, so this isn't surprising -It's also not worrying: I doubt anyone is going to change their onshoring policy as a result People in the middle will not defend ICE against their sloppy methods, nor will they overstate the impact of these screw-ups. Immigration is difficult (as is healthcare)...
  12. 1. Note that I have stated that there are issues with both sides, and condemned the violence yet you feel a need to box me in as an enemy of some kind. You, on the other hand, blame "the left".
  13. I see the same thing from both sides. The Minnesota killings caused the same, exact same reaction, from Democrat supporters. Pretty clear that unless people denounce violence from their own side, nothing is going to happen. I deplore political violence everywhere, assassination attempts, assaults, and killings. The people on here use inflammatory language, calling for the eradication of their opponents.. laughing at violence. These same people try to moralize. It has me shaking my head. I'm not talking about you here.
  14. Also Orwell: "I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in Socialism, which I never did before."[
  15. I was going to take the night off but man are you wrong about this. You're wrong but a lot of things actually, come to think of it. From my conversations with him offline, he was more right-wing than most on here.
  16. Who started it when you posted, about Paul Pelosi? "Poor Paul. He should know better than to keep crazy people as gay boyfriends. "
  17. So it's true that you ban Leftys? It sounds like you're against a particular political type. People made fun of Paul Pelosi being attacked and nothing came of it. Not complaining, exactly. I'm still here, posting solid gold every day 🙂 I don't know, I respect what you've done here but Anthony was the biggest arbiter of objectivity on here IMO Anyway, moving on...
  18. Just a question: why do you only ban lefty-wing posters? Lots of right wingers made fun of Pelosi's husband getting atta@cked as I recall. Boges, Black Dog, waldo though... Of course as a conservative, I feel safe in asking you this.
  19. I don't know if you can to apply morality, or even if there's a point to trying to do so. Pretty much everything is politically tenable now, and so the constraints are what is physically possible.
  20. Well the government is punishing the people who were compliant to those policies. They no longer support them but the rules haven't been completely changed in practice. Of course you can sympathize with those caught in the middle. Who were stationed in the US for work and then jailed due to a gap in between policies.
  21. Take ownership? Find a scapegoat? Resign?
  22. My point is there are two threads on this.
