  1. What turret? It looks like an amored Hummer....
  2. Sure it was, the most powerful nation in the world bombed rocks into dust in the poorest nation in the world in Afgan, then took the show on the road due to the WMD's in Iraq. Where did they find those things anyways?
  3. We don't need to change the world. Just our little corner. It will take a groundswell of participation to do it, but eventually it will happen. Within the next two decades the world will have morphed into a resource based economy. Production will take a second row seat to resources, and much production will become automated. That is how we will be able to survive in competition with cheap labour. This is the direction of the future and our leaders need to understand it. To return to the topic at hand, our cheap source of labour between now and then can be found in the penal system.
  4. Most cultures take care of their parents when they get old. That is why they inherit, they literally pay for it! Our however is a little different and we like the idea of the government being a nanny state.
  5. These polls are as usefull as puss!
  6. I know what you mean but having a contract without any means of enforcement seems to be a bit of a joke don't you think?
  7. If it were only that simple. The soldiers know this, and the Taliban know this, funny how we don't. Afghan is only the tip of th iceberg folks, it isn't over there.
  8. A contract? I hardly think so, we don't have nearly enough international law on the books to do that. It was merely a political paper to cover the asses of those that signed onto it.
  9. I think you need to read that again. Maybe you will understand it the second time around.
  10. The cost is endless. That is the price America has decided it will pay for freedom for all. The entire world owes the American people for the sacrifices they have made around the world. It matters not whether they make a dollar or two in the effort, a small price for freedom in my books.
  11. You have to take into consideration that Quebec has an interesting dynamic to its politics and those of us not living there have a great deal of trouble understanding it. Quebec first of course, but a strong Canadian nation to provide a helping hand if needed secondly. The focus must remain directed toward Quebec at all times.
  12. Sounds like a view from a small business person! We all know what those folks think about the pond scum getting any kind of a tax break. The truth is that making mortgage payments tax deductible doesn't have to mean they become taxable, that might be how it works down south but this is not down south and we can write our own laws thank you very much. In addition, when you are talking about improving the standard of living, home ownership is a key segment of the equation. Higher standards of living translates into lower crime rates. A side benefit to the deal! So it is a two for one deal for citizens. As far as the rise in the price of real estate goes, I call bullshit! That is a market driven thing called supply and demand, you may have heard of it before but perhaps you didn't think that it applied to real estate or something but it does. The price or housing is relative to the rate of employment and the local standards of living and local costs of living. In short, real estate is a very large variable in most locations and subject to local conditions.
  13. Exactly! This is partisan house cleaning, nothing more. Even so the spin from the right makes it look bad. Strange the right is prone to believe anything they are told by their big bosses!
  14. Not much different than what the Conservatives have done under Harper actually. There just isn't much difference in how the game is played from a partisan perspective.
  15. Both the monetary system and the financial industry needs reforms.
  16. Whether or not is is legal or not, it is a done deal. The cost to the taxpayer was bad news, but it made lots of money for the defense industry and the rumour is that the civil engineering guys are doing pretty good rebuilding stuff. Meanwhile the oil is flowing and being used to pay for everything being done. Nice work!
  17. House cleaning is what it is, don't be fooled. The right wing would have folks believe their line but that doesn't make it true. The Conservatives have lost ground in Quebec, and that is the reason for the spin.
  18. Good guys don't go to prison dude. That is your first mistake. Your second mistake is letting them out at all. Violent offenders should NEVER get out. All others need long term sentences to work off the cost to society and letting those out would increase the costs of confinement. It is not that complicated.
  19. The problem to be resolved is repeat offenders. In addition there is another issue of the expense of keeping these degenerates behind bars. That cost should be offset through the productive efforts of the ones being confined. In other words we should have as many as we can work off their expense imposed on society by their offenses. They are the cause and they should be made into the solution.
  20. They vote for the least amount of government, period.
  21. It means the stats are nicely adjusted to say what you want them to.
  22. The libratarian types are not blind to it. In fact that is where the criticism comes from in the first place.
  23. I invite you folks to look at the Sask Party and then tell me how much Liberal dogma you find.....
  24. The Quebec question haunts the federal politicians. Everyone wants their votes, but they seem to forget that at best they are talking about splitting the existing votes amongst everyone but the Bloc. It all comes to the Bloc, nobody else. Harper hasn't figured that out yet and apparently neither has Iggy.
