You gotta love CBC trying again to bury Harper and make him look bad. I have to say though I'm very pleased with Harpers answer, it's not up to Harper to define what Quebecois is. The people shall define that - not a dictor in charge. But how do you declare Quebec a nation, then say that you don't even know exactly what that nation is. Oh well.. it's all silly political granstanding anyway. Thanks ignatieff. Maybe Harper shoudl have left that alone and just maybe, everyone would be talking about Quebec as a nation instead of the environment.

Canada could be hurt by Kyoto retreat
mikedavid00 replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your the first person I've ever heard call Toronto's city council brilliant. Idiling is not a major cause of polution when you factor in the million vehicles or so in the GTA that are moving. Poeple in Syria drive cars too. Shows what you think of Syria. It's not a dirt pit. And besides, Donkeys aren't meant to be ridden. It's bad for their hips and it's unfair. You might get him upset and come to Canada and claim refugee status so we'll be stuck with fixing the donkey's hip. -

Conservatives Announce $200 Bio-Fuels Progam
mikedavid00 replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I heard that ethanol and bio-fuels fail to solve problems because it takes natural gas to produce the fuels. Basically it costs $2 to make $1 worth of bio fuel. And also: "Unfortunately, much cooking with biofuels is done indoors, without efficient ventilation, and using fuels such as dung causes airborne pollution. This can be a serious health hazard; 1.5 million deaths were attributed to this cause by the World Health Organisation as of 2000. " I think we just need to put up more nuclear power seing as there are amazing battery powered cars and SUV's coming soon. But I really don't know much on the topic as I know this can get complex. -

I love yoru idealisms. It's entertaining actually. Listen, there are already NO emission vehicles in production that are completely battery power and go 180 km/h with 400lbs ft. torque (because of the nature of the engine). These are already here now. Ford, GM, and all the major manufacturers are already working on tranitoining to these technologies. It's going to come soon and we'll have enough gas and oil to get us there. Canada is not poluting the world and our economy shouldn't suffer for this. Why can't you just leave it at that? -

Toronto's corrupt and incompetant NDP city city council made a bylaw so you are not allowed to idle your vehicle for more than 3 min or so. If it's too hot or too cold you are allowed to idle. People actually got tickets for this and just couldn't believe that they actually pay people to enfornce this stuff. But Saturn, you shouldn't be driving at all. you should be taking public transit or better yet ride a bicycle with a helmet. -
Conservatives Announce $200 Bio-Fuels Progam

Oh God here we go. Why are they doing this?? And suprise suprise, they are promoting ethynol fuel in Saskatoon. Gee I wonder why. I don't like my tax dollars being spent on this. Also, here we begin with teh 'sky is falling': "It allows a civilization that is starting to have real fears about its future either in terms of energy availability and price on the one side or climate change on the other, to pretend for a least a while that they've got a solution. It's little more than a distraction." I really hope this issue doesn't dominate our next election. It depends on what the media wants though. They tried to do something similar in California and it got voted NO. -
The Achilles' Heel of the Federal Liberals

Health care wait times. He's not speaking up about that because he knows he can't do anything about it. And income trusts I do support their discision on that and understand why they did it. -

That's the thing with idealism, it's not reality. When has the world ever worked together and functioned with a single program.. EVER? Emmissions will be reduced soon and will take care of themselves: "The Phoenix SUT is designed with a range of 100 miles and can be recharged in 10 minutes with a fast charger. Otherwise, it takes about 7 hours with a conventional outlet. Top speed in the 3,800-pound truck is 95 mph" http://news.com.com/2300-11389_3-6139442-1.html -

I guess maybe all of China should claim refugee status and come to Canada then right? -
Life there isn't so bad at all. Have you ever spoken to someone from Syria? It's not a dirt hole like you think it is. It's very liberal and modern in many ways. Anyone from Syria coming to Canada is lying if they say they're refugees. I just need to hold my other Canadian citizenship so I can come to Canada incase I need I need a triple bypass.

Maybe he can work for the NDP like his wife. Either way, his family has cost us tax payers huge and I don't feel they contribute to our country so I would like to send them back home. Does This look like a terrible place to live? Come on guys be honest with yourselves
-
Yes they get more cancer and gain wait when they come here like the rest of us.. I don't see the relevance behind that.

What are you talking about? This is a recognized problem even by your Libearl party. " What's more, the gap between transplant patients on waiting lists and numbers of available organs is widening. " Gee, I wonder why. Here's what your cite says: "Most religions support organ donation as an act of kindness." (read between the lines) And then check out this 82 page study on the issue regaring Chinese Canadians and organ donation. I guess they did this study for the fun of it: http://qhr.sagepub.com/cgi/reprint/15/1/82.pdf And then after you read that, you can read about south asians who do not donate orgarns: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.f...9&dopt=Abstract "There is concern that a disproportionately high number of people of South Asian origin await transplantation in Canada. The donation rate is low in this population". On every post it's almost apprant that you guys simply don't understand issues at hand. You guys have done no research and base everything off your personal emotion and anecdotal opinions. For once though, it's nice to see you two cite some research. Keep it up and maybe you'll learn something. Also good for everyone to note: "Transplants can save health care costs: the cost of a kidney transplant averages $20,000 plus $6,000 per year thereafter ($50,000 over five years). Maintaining a kidney patient on dialysis costs $50,000 per year ($250,000 over five years). "

I'm already aware of that study. It shows that immigrants health degrade after they come here becuase they partake in our poor health lifestyles. Big deal.
-
That's the problem, poeple coming to Canada are coming from the third world and believe in burying their body's in tact because that's what their religion dictates. Thus they do not believe in giving organs. Of course... make no mistake, if they NEED an organ they will surely recieve them. But if they have to GIVE one, meh.. that's for the 'Canadians' to do. An idea floated around was to not allow immigrants unless they signed a donar card and agreed to give organs. This was by the Liberals actually. Naturally, in typical liberal fashion.. Nothing was done about it.

That's why I said Dion's plan is known to be a new 'Alberta tax'. He knows he wont get seats there, so he might as well tax us and make gasoline more expensive for the sake of Kyoto. Nice one Dion. Nice one. -

Ottawa Senator's get 6.1 million from tax payers
mikedavid00 replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While that argument sounds good, it's a self defeating idealism. This was a provincial thing we're talking about. And I can say that the majority of businesses don't get money given to them for free. How about we just don't tax Canadian businesses or corperations at all so we can avoid this. -

Made some news here in Toronto. Here's your tax dollars hard at work: "Mike Arbour, spokesman for Finance Minister Greg Sorbara, said the former NDP government loaned the then-Corel Centre $26.8 million in 1994 for infrastructure improvements. When the arena was sold in 2003, the Tories forgave part of the loan. The Sens, in exchange, promised to stay in Ottawa. The provincial government has since been writing off $2.1 million annually. " Wow it's nice to see already rich elites getting more of our tax dollars when families can barely survive and live paycheck to paycheck. All to give free money to elites. http://www.torontosun.com/News/Canada/2006...876659-sun.html Hey guys, you are the ones against free voting propositions and democracy. We have no say in these matters so the gov't does as it pleases.

And dict. Dion is going to solve our debt by increasing the number of people here to 500,000 a year? laughable. Just laughable. We can only reduce our debt by the gov't spending less and paying off the debt. The gov't spends way too much on services. Too many people are using services in a disproportianite amount. The gov't spends 60% more on social services than on healthcare. This needs to be reduced. -

But what if these kids with the helmets get a free lunch at school, have smaller classrooms, and more personaly attention given to them? (Natives, Quebec). Facts are, both nations are given more than the general population from the school board of Ottawa. It's only a matter of time that the childs principle at his public school realizes that in order to get more handouts, he needs to have his school become a special school also. In due course everyone jumps aboard and the public school system begins to not function. I feel we're in the early stages now of principles planning on how they are also going to make their school special.
