  1. They think it's a fun game, political entertainment. Push the button and see what happens. Nothing bad can happen because it's guaranteed we have these bells, whistles and horns, see. Romans thought that too. Then, they got Neron and Caligula and all the way to the downfall. The fun game never ends, and always goes in a circle. Not even sad and tragic, just dumb and ridiculous. One could have learned, and remembered. But one needs a brain and a working memory for that... why bother?
  2. Because it's the only way, you hear. Romans knew. It begins so inspiring, freedoms, aspirations and ends in a boring and clueless mess.
  3. Nobody cared what Hitler was saying (no personal parallels or implications). He's only a valid candidate. Just push it here, done!
  4. WTF? It's an explanation? Give in to a bloody dictator piece by small piece and watch miracles happen?
  5. Meager, barely noticeable ones, in a microscope? For a blatant, unprecedented invasion of a sovereign European nation, since the WWII? Sure. There's always a great explanation for procrastination, indecision and inaction. Will the history listen though? Will it make allowances, for useless, empty words? You bet it'll do the right thing - the only one that is logical, for the evolution.
  6. You are not answering direct, simple question: who will stop Hitler's; Putins and other, contemporary and future aggressive dictators bent on aggression, suppression and killing, in their countries and abroad? A bullshit pipedream fantasy is not a real answer in the real world. Again?
  7. To all the brain-dead !diots (or deliberate liars) here: Did you bother to check the date on the news item? Why would anyone that stupid (or lying) need a tongue or a keyboard? Oh, the mysterious paths of the evolution.
  8. right before our eyes. Yes there's all that great talking, of unity, principles of never again. All sounds so heartwarming and great.. until you look out the window. If you want to look, and observe. The great, heartwarming talking is great but what do you do if lifting the body, an arm even takes near-infinite considerations, discussion and analyses, doubts, comments, declarations and delays, and cancellations at the last moment? How do you call this condition, is there a word for it? We can inspire, enchant and fool ourselves with the great words of infinite wisdom - but will the history be led away and fooled? Will it take much talking and a weak whimpering shaking for an act, decisive and bold, whet it's needed and all what is needed and more, to assure the claim for the future and the next age as our ancestors put in their time? What do you think? Can it happen, did it anytime, anywhere? Let's discuss, the Time will wait, we had the insurance certificate for that, remember? We will have a nice, warm holiday season, as comfy and plentiful as ever. Discussions and decisions that needed to be made the day before yesterday, or last year will have to wait, they can wait. Somewhere, far away Hitlers will advance. What? We're doing our little bit, it's got nothing to do with us. Like it didn't happen before never again, remember? Who still wants to remember? Who can?
  9. Right. A democratic party would care to pick the right candidate to lead the constituents, who are the citizens, to success at a time of great challenge. One party is fine with putting up a patented liar, possibly soon a convicted felon. What would be your answer? A soft talking all-knowing hands-and-body-shaking at every tiny step, twenty missiles for Heavens sake, granpa, facing the Hitlers of our time? Sure? P.S. upgrading the threat of binary politics to democracy from grave to existential. If a party, one of the two possible, looses sanity for any reason at all and props the Devil himself for the candidate, a large part of the population would take it as a stamp of legitimacy without a moment's thought. Who do you like, just push it here, or here. Just like that, done!
  10. Hamas is using in its war on Israel a simple, dictator fascist method: make the population, as much of it as possible, all of it, if possible a hostage and an instrument of its war. Hitler used it. North Korea used it. Putin is using it. Hamas saw the successes and is using it too. In this obvious ethical context, what would be a simple, morally correct answer to this situation? Would an immediate ceasefire have stopped Hitler in 1943 and 1944? Or make the way for even longer and bloodier war? Would a ceasefire stop Putin on his bloody path to control the neighbors and destroy, effectively, then physically, the unity and power of the West? Obvious. So who are the people who are marching and screaming for phantom, impossible "peace" with brutal fascist aggressors, totally blinding themselves to the stark and obvious reality? Is their prosperity of excess and self-indulgence promised and assured by some supreme force? What and where is the magic button that would "just stop it", a baby tantrum style? Who and what will deliver them when the tyrants and aggressors come to them, to their cities and homes? Who to appeal to, march for, make solemn claims? Will they go out and fight for their freedom and the world's as their ancestors did? Blind. Ignorant and entitled. Full of ourselves. We just forgot what it is, and what it takes. Well, the evolution is always there to take care of such cases.
  11. Well, yeah he just was there at a wrong time. The free world needed a leader, to bring it together and stand up to a rising new Axis of tyrants. But it got a fuzzy soft talking all-knowing couldnt' stop great talking grandpa. Stop Putin with one wise word. Talk out Xi. But of course. Sure. The history doesn't make corrections for intentions and excuses though. May still go in as a resounding great talking failure, at a time of an existential challenge.
  12. Then it's the party that has to find a way to pick the best candidates for the country, not its entrenched bureaucracy. Duh.
  13. Then, it can be seen, and touched. Believing it and seeing it aren't necessarily one and the same thing, just in case.
  14. There's neither the logic, no the factual evidence behind this statement. Top candidates in the primaries are often those with the strongest support in the nomenclature. That may be far from an asset in the general election, depending on the general background.
  15. Caution is not the default best answer in a new hostile environment where a firm and decisive act may be needed. Biden is quite obviously struggling to find the right position and act in this environment. The baddies seem to be outplaying him on all sides and his experience has little to help possibly, because it's a new situation that requires resolve and decisiveness. Soon it may be seen as a failure. And I'm only talking about the objective picture, not how it could be spun by his opponents. Wise words and all-knowing smiles don't cut it when what's needed is a firm act and a visible result. How many more times do we need to stumble here to get it?
  16. No, it's you not seemingly getting it: the primaries the parties, candidates and presidents exist for the citizens and the country. Not the other way around. It may cost dearly to fail to grasp, yet again this plain obviousness.
  17. I'm getting exhausted with that, sigh. Russia signed no less than six international treaties in which it recognized the territorial integrity of Ukraine. This is what it means, an unprovoked aggression, "to barge in, invade, take by force" at will, whenever he wants it. Now just try to figure out how "multipolarity" would work in the world where every aspiring dictator could do that at will, the moment they lay their hands on the nukes and without NATO.
  18. In a popular democracy, populists like him need to convince close to 50% of the voters (if not the entire voting population) to come to power. So these cannot be, factually and objectively, limited to "the most... whatever" among us. There are many reasons why these messages pop up, over and again, in different places throughout the history. They are objective reasons, caused by real processes in the society. It's an oversimplification that leads nowhere to attribute them to specific individuals or small groups.
  19. Where's "peace" here? How do we stop Putin who came to grab a piece, or all why not? of your land? How do we stop Hitlers, in the wonderful multipolar peace world? "Get along" with who? With Hitler? With mass murderer dictators who will invade and crush, whenever they choose, whoever they like, with no consequences and at will? How many moons do you see in your Universe?
  20. Looks increasingly like Biden is outplaying only himself, not Putin. Caution is not a universal answer, neither an explanation. There are no universal answers to existential challenges other than courage and will.
  21. Biden will get fewer votes, in the general election, than a younger energetic candidate that would come up with a vision of unity, cooperation and way forward. Making it about fighting Trump, from the platform of the past can become a losing strategy.
  22. It's not about his personality. In years of all-out digging his opponents could not present any credible evidence of any wrongdoing. That's something to be respected, no doubts. It's about social dynamics though. In the times of uncertainty and challenge, people aren't looking for more fight: they need signs of a positive change; way out of the deadlocked politics; some vision that unites and offers a way forward; and hope of improvement. Biden is associated, even entrenched into the current extremely partisan status quo, that is getting worse by day. He cannot win this challenge by making it even more partisan and divided. Fighting Trump will not be seen as a worthy cause by many common electors. Biden represents and impersonates the system that they are coming to see as failing. Trump is challenging it. Many will not look beyond that equation, this simple. It happened so many times in so many places already. Biden could bow out and pass the responsibility to a candidate who could offer the country a direction of unity and hope. Two times in row, in the recent history Democrats bet on the system candidates and in both, words and appeals, celebrities and battle calls just weren't enough to convince the majority of citizens. Let's see if they can get it this time around.
  23. This doesn't looks like, walks like and speaks like a real democracy. Some silly talk show imitation game.
  24. Also I don't know what game Biden is playing into. He sat on a huge package of lend lease without using it once, showing extreme caution despite all advice (in 1942-45, to Russia: over 11,000 of just aircraft) now all of a sudden he's out of money and the sky is falling. Democrats will be unwise to repeat the losing scenario: Clinton; Obama for the third time in a row. Find someone young, energetic with a vision of unity to avoid the deadbeat deja vu cycle.
  25. The party is going down a shameful, terrible drain. Maybe he felt it on his skin.
