  2. I want the Chat feature. The Chat feature permits members to discuss moderation and technical issues.

  4. Yes and yes.
  5. No. They are not the same thing. I suggest that everybody focuses on controlling their own posting behavior before they aim to control the postings of others. ...I can not tell whether that is a Yes or a No. No matter. I will answer your question anyways. That depends on what everybody else does. When everybody ignores the alleged-derailment, my feelings and the allegation are irrelevent because the alleged-derailment becomes repetition** which is not allowed either. The prescription for moderator intervention does not hinge upon how you want to label it --- derailment or otherwise. When folks-who-generally-but-not-always feed the derailment, then "No." but my feelings are hurt anyways. ** Good. Set an example to your fellow members by ignoring what you believe is derailment. ignoring = do not quote = do not respond
  6. Feel free to start a formal thread discussion on any topic you wish. You can do it. Feel free to open any topic you want to carry over a Status Update diatribe towards a formal thread.
  7. I will tell you how I feel after you answer my questions: Do you not feel, Argus, that a person who persists in quoting/responding to what-you-perceive-to-be-derailment encourages further derailment of discussions? What do you want moderators to do with quotes/responses to derailment? Do you trust your judgement of what constitutes derailment better than anybody else's judgement?
  8. I censor violations of the forum rules and guidelines....I do not agree with derailing discussions.
  9. No. Not everybody ignores violations of the forum rules and guidelines. Some people choose to feed and encourage forum violations. Possibly but the alternative is more censorship and less discussion which we can do but the balance between all of the competing interests occurs when folks ignore what they want suppressed. I can not speak for what everybody believes to be credible. SHORT VERSION: If everybody ignores what they want suppressed, then there is no problem nor is there censorship.
  10. No. A logical and reasonable approach is for members to ignore everything believed to violate the forum rules and guidelines. Do not respond to whatever-you-believe fails to "promote intelligent, honest and responsible discussion." Yes.
  11. Folks, Please avoid posting personal attacks.
  12. Folks, Avoid posting personal comments.
  13. Just ignore what you perceive to be trolling and move on.
  14. Yes, the report button works. Your reports have been received. We are thinking things over. In the meantime, just ignore those posts and move on.
  15. It seems there might be a time delay in displaying entries. It is from you.
  16. Tell us: When do you want a thread locked?
  17. I do not see a question but I will take a wild guess. Here is my answer: Unless the topic of the thread is "Who is honest?" then making personal comments about a fellow member is an off-topic derailment of the the discussion. The problem with appealing to "logic" as it pertains to rules is that there is no force of the universe leading man to accept only 1 rule.
  18. Folks, Please avoid posting obnoxious racist comments.
  19. Folks, Please avoid thread drift.
  20. You did not enable the ability through your profile page. I enabled it for you now. You should now be able to post Status Updates.
  21. Folks, Please avoid derailing the discussion.
  22. Folks, Stop the thread drift.
