The proposed peace plan resolves all the issues that pro-Palestinian protesters claimed to be demanding: -An end to the war -No more bombing -No more children being killed -No more genocide (even though there was no genocide -Massive influx of aid -Process of IDF withdrawal -No ethnic cleansing of Palestinians (side note: ethnic cleansing of Jews is OK) -No annexation of land in Gaza The plan is supported by 80% of Israelis Most Gazans The leaders of Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudis, Qatar and Hamas leaders there, UAE So what happened to "Ceasefire Now"? Why are western protests still anti-israel and not pro-peace? I have an idea, but want to hear yours first?

No two wrongs do not make it right. Just pointing out that it is arguable that there is no "illegal occupation". Legal ownership of the Westbank and Gaza is disputed. Other related points: Why wasn't a Palestinian state established on all Arab land controlled between 1948-1967? Why is it that the country of Israel has a 20% Arab minority while any Palestinian/Arab state must be cleansed of all Jews? The first casualty of war is truth. Here's what I beleive: The mass killing is an unfortunate result of war. The responsibility is with Hamas and their supporters. They started this war and they have the ability to end it. In addition civilian casualties could have been reduced significantly if people would be allowed to shelter in tunnels (like Ukrainians in their metro) or to relocate temporatily to Egypt. There is/was no famine in Gaza (unlike Sudan and Yemen). The hunger and suffering is again at the hands of Hamas. Israel has a moral obligation to help feed civilians, unlike any other war that I think of, Israel has met this obligation. Unfortunately by symbolically recognizing the state of Palestine, Canada is prolonging the war and suffering.

What exact physical geography are you referring to?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/leading-genocide-scholars-organization-says-israel-is-committing-genocide-in-gaza It seems like more and more people are calling the war in Gaza genocide. I should know better by now, but the mass stupidity out there still flabbergasts me. This is war. Israel has the capability to do a lot more harm. If they had intent they would have done it. Also, while it is not part of the legal definition, when the "victims" have the agency to stop a so-called genocide, then it is not a genocide. Simple solution for Gazan leadership: release the hostages and surrender.

Who's side are you on?
-
So what is your opinion?
-
Calling the war in Gaza a genocide is antisemitic. If this war was being fought by anyone but Israel there would be no claims of genocide.
-
You said "Pretty much everyone I know takes no side on this". I assume that you to are taking no side on this. Then I am wondering how you can take no sides when "Because I know that Hamas is a brutal and immoral death squad with no constraints whatsoever" Isn't it obvious who's side we should take? Yes I agree with the statement but don't see your point.

Knowing this, how can you remain neutral?

We are way more naturally disposed to peace, charity and cooperation. War is the exception, otherwise there would not be 8.2 billion of us alive today.

It does not surprise you that a four and a nine month old children are kidnapped then strangled to death then their bodies were mutilated to make it appear that they died in an air strike then the puplic celebrates their death? Where else in today's world could this happen?

Your information is filtered by the guardian and some documentary film maker. If the israeli religious fanatics disappeared, nothing would change. If the Palestinian fanatics disappeared (or converted) then there would be peace.

This week there were protests in Gaza with some people calling for the end of Hamas's rule. Most media reports like this https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hundreds-palestinians-gaza-protest-against-hamas-after-conflict-resumes-2025-03-26/ and focus on the anti-Hamas aspects. Al-Jazeera has a very different spin: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/3/28/voices-from-gaza-protests-demand-an-end-to-war-and-suffering Interesting times!

Here's the difference: Palestinians in Israel (Arab-Israelis) are comparable to indigenous people in Canada, or blacks in the US, they have full rights, many individuals succeed however as a group they are behind on most metrics. Jews (and most other minorities) in Arab countries get killed.
-
Sadly, you may not be wrong about the prospects of peace in the near term, however you are dead wrong about claiming that Israelis hate Palestinians. Fact: there are 2 million Palestinians living peacefully in Israel. This is proof that Israelis and Palestinians can live peacefully, they have been doing it for decades. If you have the time and interest, check out: https://www.youtube.com/@CoreyGilShusterAskProject You will see unfiltered opinions of ordinary people in Israel and Palestine.

I believe that you are in favour of peace. Like many people, I also used to believe that "it takes 2 to tango" and the jews are partly to blame for the violence. Then: I compared the constitution of Israel and Hamas. I thought about how Jews and Palestinians live peacefully in Israel. I saw how Israel made peace with Arab neighbors, including Jordan, essentially a Palestinian state. I read about all the peace offers. I thought about all the 20 year old Israelis walking around the West Bank with machine guns. Clearly the vast majority of israelis want peace.

Good thing that the Arab world is such fertile ground for the emergence of progressive secular lefties!
-
Now you're talking like a true martyr! Allahu Akbar!
-
To put it in context, here is a list of violence during that time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_and_massacres_in_Mandatory_Palestine
-
To put the point into perspective.
-
It would be interesting to know the ratio of jews killed by Arabs to those killed by "zionist terrorists".

Mark Carney's cllimate change fanaticism laid bare.

There is no way to spin data to show that global or canadian poverty is increasing. The 1980s were Dark Ages in a large parts of the world. The point is that the world is improving and let's get the story straight to be sure that it conitues to improve.
