Are the Liberals really going to Tax Workplace Benefits?

Are the Liberals really going to Tax Workplace Benefits?
blueblood replied to Boges's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Which suggests that maybe the govt can't afford child tax credits, overseas spending, vast numbers of civil servants. Less well off people pay taxes along with well off. Why do you think that people who succeed should be punished? Subsidizing poverty isn't good for the economy either. The results of spending cuts also result in balanced budgets, economic growth, and a steady economic environment that promotes growth. They were more competitive... given how fast trump is moving on his agenda, the party is over in Canada. Trudeau is trying to get blood from a stone trying to pay for his seat at the u.n and his special interest groups. -

Which private companies are trying to do. Notice how much of a pain in the ass it is to get a pipeline through? Building a mine? Where is the infrastructure construction? Tax breaks keep money in the hands of people that will use it. Child benefit and ei changes are unnecessary. How do taxing some people at over 50% stimulate anything? Or spending and regulations can be cut. They have gone down slightly under the Tories and all leadership candidates have plans on lowering them. The taxes will have to go down to now compete with the USA for industry. -

Why not lower it? Taxes are going up with trudeaus nonsense when they were lower than before. Why have deficits if they are unneeded? -

Well not waiting for things is one part of fake news getting out there. It would be good to know whether this is a Dylan roof type scenario or something else -

Might want to wait until the first court appearance to figure out what happened. It's very fluid. -

America under President Trump
blueblood replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
First of all the order for the wall saying to begin construction is in effect and a "buffet" of options for payment is out there. second of all the order for travel bans is essentially still in effect save for the conditions you outlined. if trump wants chaos, chaos he will have. It is strength as the orders are still implemented. I would wager the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and The UAE are having fits about this and Russia and China will be taking notes as well -

I'm wondering if this whole business with the travel ban isn't a form of language to the rest of the world that trump will do what he wants and he don't care who he offends doing it. As well as trump showing the world he does things different than Obama and that when he says he is going to do something he will either do it or make it appear he's doing it. its more about trump showing the world he is in charge -

How does Mexico gain the upper hand with the USA? I don't see that happening as the USA can pretty much do what it wants, COOL ruling in Canada's favour yet nothing done on it. The incident at JFK is going through the courts, maybe people will be renouncing their dual citizenships... -

How has it been a disaster? The administration is going through their agenda. Just because you don't like the agenda doesn't mean it's a disaster, that judgement is to be made in years time when there are quantitative results. -
More Than Just A Question Of Ethics

Unfortunately perception is often ones reality. Unless you see Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran taking in Syrian refugees and using their militaries to stamp out Isis and bring order to that neck of the woods, the people as a whole will wear the reputation a few elites have earned. -

It's fighting to lower costs to keep jobs in the USA. Now there's a stick motivator to companies outsourcing. However there is going to be a lot of competition between right to work states in the south vs the north. -

Trump is basically doing what he's doing as he thinks (wrongly) it's a national security issue in the grand scheme of things to manufacture things outside the USA. Unfortunately things will be expensive as a tradeoff and tariffs put on USA agricultural exports. -

Let's hope it's an actual debate and not a sound bite fest. Trost, obrhai, blaney, need to exit stage right. -

Sounds like being an astute politician. Either way Andrew scheer is set up looking pretty for at minimum a high profile cabinet post -

I'm pretty sure he knows that, however to win the leadership race he has to show he's an alpha. That's his selling feature - the ability to articulate and communicate effectively fiscal conservatism. The fiscal side is more important than the fluff that trips up other Tories in the media. I'm sure some back room deals will be done to incorporate some fluff into policy. He is better at playing the media game than the others. Lietch says her thing and then hides. -

Bodes well for scheer and O'Leary. Leitch can flail around all she wants she's done. -

That's the advantage of oleary's name recognition, media savvy, and alpha personality. The herd culling can begin shortly... olearys meat and potatoes are the economy and I believe a policy convention soon after would be in short order. O'Leary has mentioned willingness to play nice with his competitors. this is going to be an economic election which will play into olearys raison d'être. For what it's worth coffee row in the heart of conservative country (prairies) is salivating at O'Leary picking apart Trudeau as people want the economy back on track.
