  1. Pot is absolutely a gateway drug. Not in the physiological sense that used to be the belief, but in the "culture of access" way. I've dealt with so many users professionally that I can't keep count, and those that moved on to meth (back when that was the emerging trend) did so almost exclusively because the harder drugs were at the same location as where the individuals were smoking pot. When one is already baked, it's a lot easier to agree to try "something new". Alcohol never seemed to have the same gateway effect in my experience. If you're trying to interpret the "pot is a gateway" statement to mean people believe in the content of Reefer Madness, then you're correct that it's not a gateway substance. But to make a blanket statement that pot is completely disassociated from harder drugs would be stupid and intellectually dishonest.
  2. I don't buy into conspiracy theories (except of course thermite-packing nanobots) but DoP's posts about the lack of negative effect on the rescuers did make me go investigate a little. He's actually bang on in that someone should have been doing the funky chicken within minutes of being exposed to the supposed chemical. I could see someone maybe having some weird resistance in a one-off situation (maybe) but all of them? Like I said....weird.
  3. Firing squad has about a zero percent chance of failing, and with the one blank bullet, guilt free for the shooters! Bullets are cheap. They should just get on with it.
  4. Exactly how we already have laws in place for dealing with "hate crimes" against anyone, not just Muslims. And yet you support M103? Will you still support it when the motion turns into a recommendation for an "anti-islamaphobia" law?
  5. Then please feel free to point out where it's wrong. I'm sure it is but I'd like to know you're version of potential happenings. Where did I say I was in favor of these actions?
  6. I'm curious where in the world the US found nano-sized chemists to create the nanothermites? Seems a bit far fetched to me, but I guess anything's possible. Now, if they stumble across the technology to create nanotermites, the southern US housing industry is totally screwed.
  7. Hey...do you know anything about the airspeed those jets were traveling? Thanks,
  8. I'm a little more pragmatic about China. I doubt there is any "deal" per se, but they may be doing what is in their best interest so the US will continue to do business with them a la exports - and that means back off a bit and kick NK out of the protective umbrella provided by China (not entirely, but enough to maybe soften the resolve of Jong-un). Completely off topic....now that I think about it, could one not describe Trump and Jong-un as this century's Fat Man and Little Boy??
  9. Ahhh. Thanks.
  10. I'm more interested in the 154 boom sticks it's carrying than the conversion actually.
  11. That and the fact that the USS Michigan is now in play. Anyone who thinks what the US has on top of the water is dangerous really should look into Ohio class subs.
  12. DoP, my question then would be does NK have that kind of technology at it's disposal?
  13. What about "airspeed"?? Are you capable of answering the question or not? Hint: it's a number
  14. Imagine what those karate chop-chop-chops could do to a Tomahawk moving at 890km/h. The US won't know what hit them.
  15. Hot enough, please answer Omni's question. The one about airspeed. We're all curious. Please? Thanks,
  16. I'm more curious as to what you see as "shallow evil".
  17. Oil will go up (good for me). Some markets will rise, others will fall. Japan's index will go for shit. Of course my scenario is best case. There are a ton of not-quite-so-good cases that are possible - NK fires a nuke and the US shoots it down resulting in nasty crap in the environment. NK fires the rest of their nukes (to no real effect) and the US unleashes hell on them turning several sites into new Walmart parking lots. A bunch of UN do-gooders decide they don't like what the US has done (but won't sanction them of course). Russia decides it's a good time to come unhinged and puts part of it's fleet in the same floating territory as the US. At the same time Putin decides to put a ton of ground troops in Afghanistan as an irritant. Syria gets pissed even more and decides to "declare war" on the States backed by Russia. South Korea decides to move troops and artillery into the North to "preserve their own safety". US jets start bombing runs in NK and Syria to prove they can. Russia decides it's time the Ukraine returned to the fold and advances west there. France wets itself. Britain sends out a strongly worded communique. Germany issues the statement "We've started two world wars, with some success. We intend to stay out of this one." Russia and the US don't fire a single round against each other, because that would be stupid. Canada's Lost Leader stammering out some more platitudes and then declares theyself genderless.
  18. Please provide a credible cite for this accusation. Thanks,
  19. Please cite these "tens of millions". I must not have been watching the news on those days and I'm very interested in where all these people were from. Thanks,
  20. Once the THAAD is up and running, the US will stop pussyfooting around with NK. NK will fire something towards someone and the US will blow it out of the sky once it crosses out of NK airspace. This will likely precipitate NK firing on SK with conventionals and/or sending troops across the south border. The US will lose almost no troops; SK will lose many. China starts screaming at everyone but really does nothing other than bolster their defences on the north border (it's only 11 bloody miles anyway). Putin uses this whole mess as a distraction to try and grab some more territory. Canada won't be involved other than the Lost Leader stammering some platitudes. Just my thoughts.
  21. So, a question: Are these border jumpers "detained" or "arrested"? If they're arrested, that would mean they have broken a law (hence: illegal). Do tell. Just so you and I are on the same page with regards to impartiality....are you not the same person that stated in another thread that you earn a living from "teaching new comers to Canada"?? If you are, then you have more of a vested interest in this type of "immigration" than the majority of us posting here. For clarity's sake.
  22. How are this many people not being missed? Who's watering their plants? I mean, wouldn't property values in the area have fallen drastically due to over saturation in those local markets? How dare the US just turn a blind eye to lower home prices and unwatered plants?? Heartless is what it is. Completely heartless.
  23. I think the answer to this lies in one of the most complicated explanations that physics can provide (Caution - this type of calculation is not for the weak of heart or those that preferred Home-Ec over calculus) Wow!
  24. Mystery solved! Cheap-ass UA was probably just trying to save on freight costs... Cheaper than UPS Obviously, the "mismatched" engines were sheared off moments before the concrete-repairing nanobots healed the fissures in the towers. This makes way more sense now.
