Good enough for me, put him on the supreme court for life. -

Yes, 4% of 1% of the world’s dairy market. Big win guaranteed to salvage the screwed up US dairy industry. -
In the original Cosmos series, Sagan presented the question whether every developing species in the universe had to go through a stage of development that resulted in either moving forward or exterminating itself. He thought the odds of survival were probably no better than 50/50. Back in 1980 he was thinking of nuclear extinction, but environmental destruction is probably a more likely cause.

No it isn't, no one has a right to sit on a supreme court. It's about fitness not fairness. Unless you want a corrupt court. -

This isn't about fairness or second chances, its about whether someone should be sitting on a supreme court. -

This is a job interview, not a trial. No one has a right to be a supreme court justice. Innocent until proven guilty doesn't apply in job interviews. -

The point is, Kavanaugh has shown his clear bias and has been deliberately evasive. What is the point of giving a lifetime judicial appointment to just another political operative? Kavanaugh has shown he is unsuitable for reasons other than these women's accusations. If the Americans want to strip legitimacy from their highest court, that's up to them but I think history will ultimately view Mitch McConnell as a real turd in the toilet of American politics and history. -

One illusion went up in smoke during Kavanaugh’s reply, his impartiality. Guilty of these accusations or not, with that and his refusal to answer direct questions, he is not fit to sit on the Supreme Court. -
I agree that we should try to change both but I was also serious. Back in the day when we were sending guys to Bosnia with Viet Nam vintage APC's, my son was talking about joining the army. I told him I would be very proud of him if he did but I would also be really pissed if he came to grief serving a country that claims to be the best in the world but provided its troops with such shoddy equipment. It seems the country's attitude towards its military hasn't changed much since then. He didn't join the military, he stayed in college, went into victims services and eventually became a police officer.

You have no faith in our ability to reduce the cause but do have faith in our ability to deal with the result even though you have no idea what that result will be. Very strange. Very Pollyanna. Protecting the nearly 700 million people that live within 10 meters of sea level should be a piece of cake. Trying to slow that process down while we try and develop those technologies you have so much faith in also makes no sense to you. There is twice as much carbon stored in permafrost than there is presently in the atmosphere, as well as a massive amount of methane. If permafrost starts melting at a great rate, there is no telling what will happen when much of that is unleashed, including the possibility of a runaway climate.

I think the FBI will now be calling the shots. If they think something needs further investigation, it would be suicidal for the GOP to say no. -

Only until the election is over, then it is their bankrollers. Money is speech in the US of A, the SCOTUS said so. -

Maybe, depends on the state. Cosby could only be charged with one offence because all the others exceeded the statute of limitations. -

Not long ago, the direction US politics has gone just seemed very sad. Now it just seems pathetic. -

Seeing the way Ford and Kavanaugh handled themselves yesterday, it is hard not to imagine Ford making the better judge. Even tempered, cool, logical. Exact opposites.
