These So-Called "Contradictions" In The Bible.
betsy replied to betsy's topic in Religion & Politics
You say the True Word isn't true anymore, because it "died with Christ." In other words, at some point you believed it to be the True Word, except that you've lost the faith. You're another disgruntled, angry ex-Christian! So, we can move past it? So you finally admit you were once caught up in it? Say again? LOL! "move past it....." The irony......you're a big contradiction to yourself! Gosthacked, you can't even bring yourself to get past threads that talk about Christianity.........never mind moving past the True Word. -
We've got generation of wusses! All they gotta do is show this clip..... ........and they'll be singing like canaries!

Is it possible to have a reported out-of-topic comment, or personal attack to be removed? Trolling comment that are out-of-topic, or that aims to derail the discussion, or personal attack should be removed. Leaving them posted on the board does not discourage those behaviours. Just my 2 cents.

The Word of God (Bible) - is the written message of God. The Word (Jesus) - is a title. The Word of God (Jesus) - Jesus embodies the total message of God. -
These So-Called "Contradictions" In The Bible.

Nope. It's not what only Deem says. It's what science claims. https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20126882-600-ancient-earth-was-a-barren-waterworld/ That's why I asked you to review the evidences from the other thread - they are backed by science! Refer to post #606 for a recap of all evidences given from the thread "Why Trust The Bible." No, silly. It's what's written on line 1. God created the heavens and the earth! It's also what's written on line 2. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. From line 1 and 2, it is clear that the heavenly bodies were already created. not only that, water already existed and it covered the earth. And that's supported by science - check out the source given above. And then, there's line 3. It specifically said what was created on the first day. That's why I asked you to go and check out those evidences! You're bringing up juvenile arguments - and they're based on ignorance. Review those evidences (and their scientific support). I don't have the time, or the patience to spoon-feed you with details that were already posted in the other topic. I made it easy for you to locate them Go to Post #606 of Why Trust The Bible, and check out the individual evidences. Their individual post numbers are listed. I'll have to give your posts a pass.......unless I see something worth responding to. -

I DID! Post #163! I also added: What was your response to that? You dismissed it! And you ask me to answer your post #157? I'll post the same thing: It's difficult to establish God's time-line! We don't know exactly how many human years is in God's day. A couple of verses refers to it as "a thousand years," but we don't know if that's a figure of speech that simply means God's day isn't like a 24-hour day. The heavenly bodies were already created before the first day of creation. For how long had they been already in existence, we don't know! Furthermore, If the heavenly bodies have varying ages, it means they were not created at the same time. That's why I cannot agree to your assumption that all those were created over a period of 6 God days. That can't be correct, since not only do you have no basis whatsoever for that assumption....but your assumption also defies logic! Now you should know why I gave you that tidbit of information! That's part of the response to your #157! -

Well, yes they would be created before the first day. Genesis 1:1 has been the evidence that the earth was already created before the first day! How many times have I given Genesis 1:1? Read the first few verses of Genesis. Genesis 1 History of Creation 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Earth was already covered with water at this time, and it was dark due to the gases in atmosphere. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. Bringing in the light and dividing the light from darkness was the thing that was done on the first day! That means, creation of earth and the heavens were done BEFORE the first day! GOD'S DAY! Here's the scientific compatibility: http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/day-age.html#n03 You're new to the board. In serious matters such as this, I never make claims that I don't - or can't - support. The rest of your post #176, is rendered moot. -

Despite the numerous authors, from various time-lines, the Bible is not "muddled." In fact, the consistency of its message has been sustained. https://bible.org/seriespage/4-bible-written-word-god You're confusing the "Word of God" with "The Word." https://bible.org/seriespage/4-bible-written-word-god The Bible is called the Word of God because it is the written message of God. https://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-Bible-Word-God.html -

God started creation using His day. It wasn't until Genesis 1:14 that 24-hour days was created. If we follow scientific theories and findings, God couldn't have switched from God's day to 24-hour day in continuing on with His creation. He has to still be using God's day....unless you're talking about instantaneous creation (they all miraculously popped up). Genesis 1 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. All that couldn't have happened in a 24-hour day......if based on scientific hypotheses. https://www.livescience.com/18565-life-building-blocks-chemical-evolution.html Since science reaffirms the correct order of creation in the Bible, then it has to be God's day. Even though they got wiped out by the flood - they didn't get wiped out as descendants. As an analogy, if only one person survived the Holocaust (Nazi), and all his family were wiped out by the Nazis......... and this lone survivor moved on in life to marry, and beget children and grandchildren......do you think the family tree chart that his future grandchildren will create to trace back their descendants, will end with this lone survivor, since everyone's been wiped out except him? -

I have to apologize. My mistake. The hanging Judas should be explained on this particular thread where it really belongs. Read my response to it above. As for the rest....I'll respond to them later. Gotta go. -

Both had happened to Judas. He hanged himself.....and later on, his decomposing body fell from that height, and his gas-filled stomach burst open. http://voices.nationalgeographic.com/2014/05/02/animals-science-world-exploding-whale-blue/ One author talked about the hanging, while the other talked about the bursting stomach. No contradiction. -

It's not a contradiction. For one thing, it says, "Thou shalt not murder." Second, the rule is for us - not for God. Nothing says that the Creator - the omnipotent God, is bound by His own rules. Only silly humans who have no understanding of the concept of God, want to think that. -

Yes indeed, archeology is a tricky thing. If that's your position - what makes you think the first assumption - that the Chaldeans came after Abraham - wasn't wrong? If there is now evidence to show that it was wrong - then, it was wrong. James, I said you, can't take EVERYTHING literally. So, I don't know what you're arguing about. Btw, the goat's/color, and all animals in a ship - had already been explained. The OT, full of creation traditions? Did I miss them? These creation traditions are all written in the Bible? What are these so-called creation "traditions?" Cite them. If I say that not EVERYTHING can be taken literally - then that means, there are things that can be taken literally. Those given evidences can apparent fall in the group that can be taken literally......since science had reaffirmed them through its findings. And yes, I said "no contradictions at all." Though the so-called contradictions that were given so far (that I can recall) are all taken literally (bat/bird, Judas hanging/bursting)...... that doesn't necessarily mean that all so-called contradictions are literal (since the Bible is full of figures of speech). How many times have you said goodbye, James? Yet here you are.....I'm not complaining though. Just saying it's hard to believe that you're not trying to make me agree with you. I've proven that your point isn't valid at all. Just look at the way you reason.....they're "half-baked," and not well thought out. Some of my statements, you don't seem to understand - like I've stated several times already that, not everything can be taken literally - and yet, you're arguing like as if I said otherwise. I say you can't even pin your point, and here you claim to have a valid point? They're sound. They're based on logic. Yours, are not. Well, if you found my articles flawed - wouldn't that be a perfect opportunity to discredit my claim? Wouldn't you say, "AHA! your article says blah-blah-bl;ah.....but that's faulty, because this source says it's this-this-this?" I would, if I found your source, faulty. So....where's the flaw? Be specific, and tell me which paragraph it can be found. We are! Right now, we're discussing about you........... contradicting yourself! Go read my responses to you. I've explained this to you a couple of times already. No matter how you re-phrase your question (about this so-called contradiction)....the answer will not miraculously change, James. I'm surprised that this seems to be the only so-called contradiction you can give. For the sake of a lively discussion - go to an atheist site and take from their list of alleged contradictions. Otherwise, one of these days....I'll do just that. I'll be rebutting from their list! -
Not only are we hooked to support so many......now, they want a Muslim-only cemetery! http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/voters-reject-quebec-city-area-muslim-cemetery-project-1.3505505 They're going to fight for it. I bet they'll get it too.....

These So-Called "Contradictions" In The Bible.

That's my point: it's difficult to establish the time-line since we're talking God's time-line! We're getting some clues about time-line of creation thru the help of science. Like I said, "The beginning," is ambiguous. The heavenly bodies were already created before the first day! Genesis 1 is simply a summary of creation. 24-hour day (time), was created on the third God's day. Genesis 1 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: We don't know exactly how many human years is in God's day. A couple of verses refers to it as "a thousand years," but we don't know if that's a figure of speech that simply means God's day isn't like a 24-hour day. -
