  1. No big surprise there Monty... the rightwing tends to only understand very clearcut "rules" -- black and white; with us or against us; good or evil... very clearcut, very simple.
  2. Yes, we are going to end up with a toll to get to work. Great. Yet no toll on the new highway to Whistler... a highway only used by the wealthy -- those who can afford to go to Whistler, who can afford to attend Olympic events.
  3. In 1492 an idiot thought he sailed to India... and he called the natives "Indians". He was wrong. Indians are people who come from or reside in India. A friend of mine from India laughed and said "But I'm not from Eastern India!".
  4. Paper route targetting is possible and much cheaper than Canada Post. The papers that stuff the flyers manually have the option to do individual routes (so a business could do as few as 60 papers if they wanted to). You got that the wrong way 'round. Community papers work the best for small businesses with small budgets. Where the expensive dailies work well for Costco and the like. The Province for example, goes all over the Province so it makes sense for a company like Costco, with many locations all over the province, to advertise. But not much sense for Grandma's bakery in Abbotsford... as they will not draw any customers from, say Fort St. John. For them, the community papers are their only affordable advertising venue. Trust me. I do this for a living -- and have since 1991. ;-)
  5. I generally try my best to find the most cost-effective advertising -- an ad in the Langley Times for example (quarter page) runs for an average (I say average, cause cost depends on number of runs) of $350. This ad then reaches the whole market of approx 40,000 households. A flyer, on the other hand would be approx. $40 per thousand -- $1600. So unless the flyer is full glossy, colour, or multiple pages, I recommend the client do in-paper ads.
  6. Yes. Most of my clients prefer using the free community papers rather than the paid subscription dailies. It's all about reach. The community papers are cheaper to advertise in and have more circulation than the dailies. Wouldn't make much sense for a small bakery in Langely to advertise in the Province, for example.
  7. Yes, the dailies are delivered in that manner for the most part. But community newspapers that come out twice a week or so are still delivered (for the most part) by kids. My son hand delivers 66 papers by hand. Takes him about an hour. The "adult" carriers drop off his 66 papers at our door. They will be waiting for him when he gets home from school today.
  8. And how would you, Charter, teach a child a work ethic? How would you teach him dedication? How would you teach him that life isnt' a free ride?
  9. Paperroutes don't pay well. So what. It's not about how much money a kid can rake in but teaching them committment and dedication. Life is about working -- if you don't work you can't live (very comfortably) so one of the most important lessons to teach your children is the value of committment and hard work. My kid has had his paperroute for four years and was able to save up and buy his own computer (and leave mine alone!) He is now saving for a Wii -- when he gets halfway there I will kick in the rest. When a kid is simply given everything he wants he has no respect for it.
  10. Clearly, jbg, you missed this part of his post ... I have to agree... it's not much of a stretch (IMO) for a heterosexual woman to orgasm with another woman, but (once again IMO) a heterosexual male would have a difficult time getting "ready" let alone having an orgasm.
  11. Hey, if you do (or say) something stupid, expect that it will come back to haunt you -- especially if you want a career in politics. All is fair in love, war and politics
  12. ...if you have to ask....
  13. I personally don't know anyone who is gay. At least that I know of. And I know a lot of people! So if both you and I have never run across a gay person, I guess it's safe to say you are safe from their influence...just don't be wearing a blue baseball cap or sit with a wide stance in a bathroom stall! edited to add: Monty`s now in the clothes closet tossing out all his blue hats...
  14. But you said this: You said you "have seen"... So I had to assume that you have some homosexuals in your sphere of influence... ones you have actually spoken to perhaps. But you've been hiding behind the duct tape all along!
  15. Funny how those people can believe they are inherently (made that way) attracted to the opposite sex, but beleive that homosexuality is a "choice". If homosexuality is a "choice", then heterosexuality is also a "choice" -- so I can assume that many heterosexuals simply (or maybe they agonize over it) make a "choice" to supress their attraction to those of the same gender. I don't know if there is a "gay gene" or not. But I seem to be inherently attracted to those of the opposite sex, so I assume that homosexual attractiveness is also inherent (rather than "learned" behaviour).
  16. Hey, we were having good conversation until you decide to butt your redneck head in... So here goes: if the woman carrying the alleged gay gene is homosexual then she won't be breeding will she? Of course women are not "really" homosexual are they? When 2 women get together you consider it a spectacle for you to get off on -- fun fun fun! But when 2 men get together you get all disgusted... hmmm...
  17. why? So folks like you won't mistake 'em for women and accidentally breed with 'em? (just kidding) Monty, I'm not seeing where you're coming from... why do they need special "identifiers"? Heteros don't "accidentally" bed homosexuals...
  18. But if mental illness is passed on genetically (not environmentally induced) then I am correct in believing that if homosexuals are left to be homosexuals (non-breeders) then this "mental-illness gay gene" will eventually die off.
  19. Lesbianism has been thought of as "erotic" by many men and not frowned upon (by men) in the same way as two gay men are. So women switching back and forth is not thought of as a "big deal" in our culture. This is the (unfair) reality of it.
  20. Then we need to look at the abuser as the villain, not the victim. IMO, attractiveness (what you find attractive) is built-in... For example, it makes no matter that my first husband hit me, that event did not "turn me into" a homosexual. I am still attracted to male human beings. For a man, da' penis must rise -- so if seeing an attractive man makes your penis rise, then you are homosexual. If seeing an attractive woman makes your penis rise then you are heterosexual. Of course, those who deny or fear their homosexuality (not you though Monty!) would get that rise when they least want it.
  21. Do you believe that you are A. inherently attracted to women or B. do you believe you make a conscious choice to be attracted to women? I believe I am inherently attracted to men -- that my heterosexualness is built-in. Isn't yours? If yours is built-in (which I think you do believe), then why would you think that the same would not be true of homosexuals -- that they are inherently attracted to those of their own gender. edited to add for Oleg -- if a man were stranded on a desert island with a sheep... well you get the drift. Moot point.
  22. Here's my take on the future of homosexuality: In the past, homosexuals have had to deny their sexuality and as a result many of them married and had children thus passing on the homosexual gene. Today, homosexuals are not forced to have children -- and the rightwingers will love this part -- in a few generations, with no homosexuals masquerading a heteros and breeding, the homosexual gene will just die out. So the rightwingers should be encouraging gays to come out, not to masqerade, but to be themselves in homosexual relationships and stop the homosexual gene from reproducing. By forcing gays into hetero relationships, the rightwing has inadvertently made the gay gene continue.
  23. Please explain how I am going to end the world! I am so eager to find out how I can have so much power -- its makin' me giddy! ... and makin' you froth at the mouth -- and I am having fun now -- let's continue m'kay! Nope, those who are abnormal are those who would see others harmed for no reason. Soon, like in 5 years or so, there will be no more children as all people will become gay -- gayness is like the flu -- you get it from touching something someone gay has touched or breathing their expelled air. The only solution is for those who don't want to become gay is to get into the basement and duct tape the doors and windows -- 'tis the only way you will be safe from the "gay virus". Your fear makes me laugh. Sorry.
  24. That's why I think tuition should be based on grades. The your grades throughout highschool, the lower your tuition should be. Back inh 1988 I took a $20,000 college loan, but, because I maintained a high GPA, I only had to pay back 50% of it. the $20,000 was for 2 years tuition and books plus living expenses. I bought a beater car, paid a year's rent and worked part time as a waitress while I went to school. My first job (working in my field of study) -- nobody else would take it... was for $5 an hour. Best thing I ever did was take that job for that summer. Everything I've ever done since stems from that Marketing Assistant job.
  25. You really need to call the Dog Whisperer... you are using your agressive dogs as penis replacements and that's really not fair to the dogs. They don't want to be agressive - you've made them that way because of your own insecurities. Way to go Who cares that gays don't generate life? Shall it be "open season" on all the heteros who have never had any children? After all, according to you, they are useless unless they procreate.... "Hey you babyless s.o.b! Me n' my buds gonna beat you senseless 'cause you aint got no kids and that makes yer penis usless so I gonna cut it off you." Does that sound about right? Does that sound like something you would like to say to childless people? No wonder I rarely read what you post... edited to add: It takes a really "big" man to walk a poodle... "little" men own aggressive dogs as "extensions" of themselves --- relax Oleg -- it was probably his wife's dog anyway and you are all in a tither over nothing.
