Do you agree with Kyoto - or not?
sharkman replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nonsense. China won't be paying, (as well as others that have been mentioned) and they are going to be polluting far more than anyone else. On top of their coal fired plants, it is a fact that I linked to on another thread that they will be building 15 nuclear fired plants in the next several years. Further, you mentioned that all those buying Chinese crap should stop and this would stop coal plant production. Wrong again. It's too late for that since the Chinese population of over 1 billion will be buying their own products. Given that Canada is already on the forefront of restricting pollution, our behaviour should be rewarded, not penalized with having to buy pollution credits. -

VICTORY in Iraq now in sight
sharkman replied to blackascoal's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hey Poly, why don't you tell us about a conspiracy theory in Disneyland. I just know that Mickey is up to no good. -
So a couple of thug nations throw a hissy fit about the U.S., and blackascoal thinks this means the whole world is lining up against the U.S.? Blacky, you are out of touch with reality. It sounds like you hate your nation. Perhaps you should try Iran. The Euro's advances are not remotely similar to Chavez or Iran agreeing to hate the U.S. It's international commerce. The Euro has more weight behind it now because most of Europe is using it. If the U.S. could get North America to do a similar thing as the European Union, North America would be back on top.

Several New Polls: Hillary is Fading
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Since my previous comment said there wasn't just one type of simple minded voter, you can go ahead and assume I am asserting that every candidate could have simple minded voters. Of course Bush is in that group. The evidence of this is overwhelming. But you seem to be missing the main part of my comments. Your comment, 'are bush supporters simpleminded groupies', infers that you are asking are all of his supporters simpleminded groupies. This further infers that you may think my previous comments on Clinton simpleminded groupies meant that all of her supporters are simpleminded. On both counts this is, of course, incorrect. There are smart and dumb supporters of every candidate under the sun. But since this thread is about Hillary, her supporters are closer to the topic. She has liberal followers in areas of the U.S. that are strongholds of liberal thought, such as NY and California, to name a couple. She also has kool aid drinker simpleminded groupie followers in all parts of the country who would follow her anywhere. The point of this thread is to point out that recent polls have shown her support declining, and one reason is the Obama juggernaut, who she has been making snide remarks about, showing that she is concerned about him. Her trip to Iraq is at least partly a strategy to shore up her numbers, but I think she may have waited too long to enter the presidential race, 2004 may have been a better option for her. The other thing is as a woman, her chances of actually winning the office are pretty slim. -
Several New Polls: Hillary is Fading
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ok, help me see what is there. Outside of NY and Cali, is anyone who supports any candidate a simpleminded groupie? Are Bush supporters simpleminded groupies, for example? Look again at my most recent post. Concentrate on the part that says, 'you are looking for something that isn't there, simpleminded groupies for one candidate only.' -
You know Poly could well be high up in the organized conspiracy to make 911 look like an inside job. He's been tireless in defending the 911 conspiracy theories, which of course cover up the true conspiracy, and he bobs and weaves like a politician when the questions get too probing. Good job Poly, but I just don't believe you.

Again you are looking at something that isn't there, simpleminded groupies for one candidate only. I only mentioned the simple minded Clinton groupies since the topic is hillary. -
Is Terrorism Fine When the USA is Behind it?

Is Terrorism Fine When the USA is Behind it?

Uh, China did indeed support the North Vietnam effort. And are you referring the hostilities between China and Vietnam which occured in 1979, several years after? -
The Conservative agenda and the ethnic vote

*yawn* If there are so few differences between the two parties, then why are you liberals so hell bent on getting Harper out of office, hmm? -
Is Terrorism Fine When the USA is Behind it?
sharkman replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yeah, well the left wing rhetoric is the same, that's for sure. The two wars have big differences to the objective eye. Vietnam was an actual land war with campaigns to drive the enemy back and free more of the country. Iraq's land war lasted about a week, with mostly a gorilla style terror campaign since then. They know they can't beat the U.S. army face to face, so they dress up as civilians and sneak around looking for stuff to blow up. Why? They figure if they make things difficult long enough, the U.S. will go away and they can have the power. But there's no benefit to Iraqis in merely replacing one dictator with another. Another Big difference is thus far there is no major power in the region aiding the terrorists. Iran is doing some, and maybe Syria, but not on the scale of China in Viet Nam. -
What should we do if US withdrawals from Afghanistan
sharkman replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But being that this thread is about Afghanistan, what Bush says about iraq is off topic. If you are going to start a thread whose topic is sourced by 'someone said' it looks like you are talking out your ass. Hillary Clinton is going there in the near future and is arguing the US should put MORE troops there. -
Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam) Does the Dip and Dive
sharkman replied to jbg's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
He is a public figure and he may fear a reprisal. I would if I was him.He is in a no-win situation and all he can do is promote peace. He would not call Hamas what it is? In the US, wouldn't that put him in some danger from radical hard right wingers? While criticizing Hamas would expose him to the ire of Muslim hard lliners. But if he had integrity, he would speak his mind and let the chips fall where they may. -
Simple Question for Those Who Dislike or are Neutral to Israel
sharkman replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
What the Palestinians do with their land is entirely up to the Palestinians. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the evil of Israel. In a thread that's 4 pages long, you choose to address a comment made in the second post on page 1? Keep trying! -
Who sold out to become...Conservatives. And only then did they beat the Liberals. Politics is full of such deals, becoming CPC was a kingmaker deal. I don't believe Reform could have ever won the PM office since it was wwaaaaay too regional. But within a CPC framework, reformers can do much good, like win a majority and rescind that silly gay marriage law.
-
Not really. It's quite self evident to most CPCers that Jack's a self promoting political wind chasing spot light hogging hard left winger, who instead of saying few words and having people consider him a fool goes on and on and proves it. So now he's hot and bothered about the environment? Yah right, he's hot and bothered about power. Might as well give the beast his head.

Several New Polls: Hillary is Fading
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yep. California and New York are chuck full of "simpleminded" Clinton supporters as opposed to the profound thinkers in the South who would "no way in hell elect a woman president." Apparently you misunderstood my post. I made a distinction between New York and California voters, and simpleminded Clinton groupies who would follow her anywhere. Good point, however, on narrowminded bigots in the south. -
VICTORY in Iraq now in sight
sharkman replied to blackascoal's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It seems you need the context of my little campaign to chastise the author of 4 threads all simply bashing bush(Figleaf). I posted comments in all four giving said author the hint he was making multiple threads on the same type topic, which btw got almost no posts. The main point of my above comment was to inform a newbie his post was too long. I will call out any poster who has Bush derangement when they go over the top. If you don't like such posts, ignore them. -
I don't think that if you leave religious based hatred alone, it will disappear by itself. Hatred modeled by the parents only gets instilled in the children, just like racism or physical abuse does. This is obviously a touchy subject that many people would rather ignore and hope it goes away. France is reaping the consequences of that kind of head in the sand approach.

Blackascoal, you need to shorten your posts, dude. And get a grip about Bush.
