Since you brought up the issue of the notwithstanding clause while quoting my comments, I assumed you disagree with my comment and feel this is the way Harper could bring in abortion laws. While pointing out a strawman, I see you avoided the issue completely. How many times has the notwithstanding clause been used? Are you going to avoid the question again?

Would you mind giving a link showing at least a left-wing kook swearing this is true, or better yet a link with actual evidence that Bush tried to overthrow Chavez? This is the guy(Chavez) who wants to shut down an entire TV station because it wasn't friendly to him during the last election. Actually, he's forcing it off the air when its current license expires, and has a war going with many private radio and TV stations. Has Bush done anything remotely like that. No, of course not. He believes in democracy, not socialism. And this guy calls Bush names. He's a danger to freedom of the press.

Ian't believe you would pull out that stale bullshit once again. If his only baggage is that people like you deliberately, disingenously dismiss context to misrepresent something he actually didn't even say, then he has no baggage at all. He said he helped create a legislative environment that facilitated the development of the Internet. If you can't tell the difference, nothing you say has any credibility. Gore's actual utterance was, "I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Seems plain enough for me. But it seems a touchy subject for you, maybe you should avoid threads where Al Gore is discussed, because there's plenty more. He makes Bush Jr look like a genius at times: Al Gore "Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children." "The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century." "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." "I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future." Just google Al Gore quotes for laughs.

Good grief! Enough with the knicker twisted knee jerk reactions. A party can't just 'bring in a law'. There is the small matter of the Canadian Constitution and our Supreme courts which would slap down any such law they don't feel is in line. We've had abortions in Canada for a generation, the courts are not going to abolish them period.

Look dude, their religion is not based not circumsicion. Their religion is based on following Jehovah's laws. Picking one at random just because it tickles your fancy does not make it so. That would be like picking on the Muslim faith and saying it's based on cutting off the hand of a thief. You obviously need to get out more.

An analyst had this to say about Obama, Hillary and (yikes!) Al Gore, a black man and a woman with baggage may not be appetizing for an American public. Someone who's been around before, like Gore, could be an attractive alternative. I say Gore's got baggage too,("I invented the internet) but what do I know.

Obama would make a good president and, at least in the Democratic primary, make an important challenge to Hillary. 2008 may be more exploratory and dry run for 2112 or 2116 - but then again, it may just be his time!!! Its a long way to the nomination and a longer way to the white house. Hillary wants it pretty bad.

How about you stay on topic, frog. The wacky Iranian prez has spoken publically on Israel a good half dozen times. Put all the quotes together and you get an accurate representation of what he wants you to think of him. I no longer think he's so stupid as to utter racist hate speech just because he thinks so.
-
Wow dude, what a profoundly stupid thing to say. Your time here will not be long if this is the typical kind of contribution you will be making. There's no point even debating the point. Thelonius, it may look like sabotage except for the fact that the delta force wasn't tricked into crashing on their rescue mission.

Bush's Canadian 'Clone' in Jeopardy
sharkman replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2007/011707a.html Not so fast. the article is obviously out to lunch with the description of Harper as a hard line conservative who models his conservativism on what the Republicans have done. It is Bush who is completley against gay marriage, while Harper prefers civil unions, and Bush is a born again Christian, while Harper isn't. This article is just more left wing trash, trying to round up Bush allies who have gone down to defeat, but ignoring Australia and misreading Great Britian(who did not get rid of Blair after his strong support of Bush), and Canada. Canada got rid of their PM who actually opposed the U.S. in the war on teror, namely Martin. A journalist who doesn't let the facts guide him or her is not worth reading. Further, this 'journalist' mentions the bounce the Liberals received after electing Dion, but fails to mention that all parties get a temporary surge in the polls after a leader is elected. Also, CURRENT polls show both parties leading, depending on which poll you read. -
I, several 100,000 others, and all of Arkansas had heard of Clinton before he got put on a ticket. I will agree that there seems to be an establishment that anoints political leaders, however. BTW, I've never mentioned it, but sometimes I've given you a hard time over your conspiracy theory stuff. It speaks to your character that you don't tell me to #@* off or something.

note, after America left, means after the war and NOT as you suggest, during finally, I don't believe, not for a second your claim about the name calling --- I'd like to suggest rather, the word comes to your mind every time you look in the mirror .... "sphincterboy" .... well, that's my best guess I think I understand now. English is your second or third language. Good for you!(Smiling and nodding, as if what Guthrie just said makes perfect sense, Sharkman carefully steps backward and away.)

Whatever Guthrie called you doesn't have shit to do with me. I have not called you anything at all period. "Blacky" is a racist slur, which I'm sure you are well aware of. Is there a problem with you debating with civility? It seems that you have a serious problem with reading comprehesion and/or an inability to counter intellectually. I stand by everything I've said, including Bush is the worst president in American history who led America into the worst military blunder in our history, but he did not do it by himself. Given that you appear incapable of honest civil debate, you "leaving me to my wild accusations" is a very good idea. About the name calling: I know you never called me any names. That is why I said,"No Duh you haven't called me names". The ONLY reason I mentioned that the name calling had ensued was because as I mentioned, Guthie had called me names. You are innocent of the charge, except you were never accused of it. As to Blacky, I am often shortening up long names when I communicate on these threads, others do it as well, but I will call you coal instead since you have a point about Blacky having racist overtones. My original post poked fun at you and Guthrie for bemoaning how the Bush administration had ruined the U.S., and then talk about Obama like it could be quickly reversed. My orginal point, which August1991 immediately understood and agreed with, still stands. You are condescending, insulting, and rude. Any time someone disagrees with you, out comes the sarcasm. If you want respect from other posters, give respect.
-
No duh you haven't called me names. Let me direct your attention to the post immediately previous to the post of mine where I state the name calling ensues. It is a post by Guthrie where he calls me a clown and a few after it where he calls me a backward looking loudmouth, whatever that is. If you don't have the cajones to admit you think Bush has ruined the U.S., fine by me. The weight of all your rants in all of the threads begs to differ. It's just hypocritical to assert this, and then talk about how wonderful things would be if Obama becomes president. Since this is lost on you, as well as the name calling(even though the namecalling was in the post IMMEDIATELY preceding mine), I'll leave you to your wild accusations.
-
My first post was not a direct response to your first post or blacky's. My comments were independant and compared what you and blacky have been going on about on this forum in general about the U.S. My comments were simply referencing several points you and blacky have made on this forum(several threads, not this one!!!) Man you are thick. This thread is where you say: Tribute? like oil? like the right of way to build pipelines? - or are you suggesting that tribute has to be jewel encrusted statues of birds? and: like all tribute, it goes in the pockets of those in power- how much have the buschistas pocketed from this war? hundreds of billions! unquote.
-
Guthrie, I think you missed this post where I stated even though it was obvious, that I wasn't inferring every point I made came from you. But you certainly can't deny it was you who brought up the tribute to the U.S. thing. If you can't admit that then you fibbed when you said given a fair argument( here it is again, you are the one who brought up the U.S. is collecting tribute nonsense) you'd give one back.
-
Ah, it was you that brought up the whole U.S. collecting tribute idea. I misrepresented nothing. Perhaps you need to straighten your memory out. Get a clue, I am not attributing every single description I made in my first post to you, since I included Blacky as well. I usually don't bother arguing with those who are too dogmatic to see anything but their own views, but I do point out hypocrisy when I see it.
-
You two fellas are pretty funny. You go on and on and on about how Bush has single handedly decimated America, even called it the end of the American empire or some such thing. He's lied and schemed and taken tribute from the world. Good will and friendship towards the U.S. has been poisoned beyond all repair. And then you comment on this topic like all will be forgiven of the U.S. and the empire will miraculously rise from her death bed if only Obama can be the next American leader, by which I assume you mean president. Perhaps things aren't as bad as you two nay sayers are letting on.

Here's more evidence from Jimmy's past and shows a decided lack of researching an issue before rendering his verdict. On this instance he came to the defense of a member of the SS, a full fledged Nazi guard who had been deported from the U.S. in 1987. At that time, a U.S. Justice department official received a letter from Jimmy Carter, asking specifically for special treatment in this case. Quote: “On the upper corner of the letter was a note signed by Jimmy Carter saying that in cases such as this, he wanted ‘special consideration for the family for humanitarian reasons.’ “I didn’t respond to the letter – the case was already over and he was out of the country – but it always stuck in my craw. A former president who didn’t do what I would expect him to do - with a full staff at his disposal – to find out the facts before he took up the side of this person. But I wasn’t going to pick a fight with a former president. We had enough on our plate.” “It always bothered me, but I didn’t go public with it until recently, when he wrote this book and let it spill out where his sentiments really lie,” Sher said. “Here was Jimmy Carter jumping in on behalf of someone who did not deserve in any way, shape or form special consideration. And the things he has now said about the Jewish lobby really exposes where his heart really lies.” End quote The evidence they had on this SS Nazi was a a roster book that was kept by the SS which documented every execution they carried out with the name of the victim and name of the SS guard who carried it out. Plus Bartesch admitted to the court that he had voluntarily joined the Waffen SS and served at the death camp where the execution took place. And Jimmy wanted 'special consideration'. Either he didn't do the research and came off as a buffoon, or he did, and found that a former SS guard didn't do anything worth deportion, which is scary.

The teacher's union, which deals with working conditions and issues, has neither the mandate or the know how to make any such 'suggestions' whatsoever to teachers in their union. That they are abusing their power to influence what teachers cover in the classroom is what is concerning here. If they were trying to similarly influence teachers to cover religious morals in a positive way perhaps those who shrug their shoulders about the Israel topic would see the light.
