What Harper gov’t accomplished in 16 months!
sharkman replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ah yes, the tax increase the Liberals keep moaning about. Wasn't that concerning a small tax decrease by Martin that Harper reversed before it even had an effect? Of course spending is up, we have been in the hottest economy for a few years now. And in certain programs, like Employment Insurance, spending is down. Big deal. And what was the most recent federal surplus again? What does that mean exactly, spend down the federal surplus. Isn't the correct phrasing to spend down the federal debt? -
Iran Caught Red-Handed Shipping Arms to Taliban
sharkman replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
I thought it was the misinformation of the CIA that got them into Iraq. This report is more than speculation, obviously the U.S. Gov. is being careful of what they offically say, but it's not uncomon for them to deny and also accuse. -
Shame on the Left and its Vicious Hatred of Israel

Interesting, tell us, what savagery have you committed? Personally I don't commit savagery, I believe in letting live. -
Bush Orders Secret War Against
sharkman replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
That may be true, but there are certain members of the press who have made it their calling to damage Bush any way they can, plain and simple. They hate him and everything he does. They will leak anything, and Bush's political enemies know this and use these members of the press. When you have a situation such as this in the media, what do you do? This strategy of war by other means against an enemy of the U.S. (Iran) should have been kept secret. I hold the position that the Bush Admin. didn't leak it as it gives Iran a heads up. It was leaked by yutzes in the media who got it from Dems and it heavily reduced any benefits that might have been achieved. Aiding the enemy because you don't like the president's politics! -
Dion Now Getting His Own Make-up Man
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's interesting. If the Conservatives win a majority next time around. That will be the argument, that it was all one big conspiracy by the Liberals. A conspiracy to set the stage for Gerard Kennedy, or whoever is the next leader. I don't believe it though. The Liberals believe they have a G*d given right to run the country. Taking a break would be defying the wishes of G*d. I could be wrong, but in looking at the field of the last Liberal leadership race, there really wasn't much in the way of heavy hitters. The movers and shakers new that there was no way the Libs could win anything so stayed away. How else do you explain a result such as Dion? -
Iran Caught Red-Handed Shipping Arms to Taliban
sharkman replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
Well why not, they already arm the Islam terrorists in Iraq. Iran needs to get their chain jerked, but no one seems able to do it. -
Dion Now Getting His Own Make-up Man
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wonder how Dion's remake is going, he still seems like a high school teacher to me. He's so underqualified it's like the Liberal brain trust knew they were going to have to spend some time on the outs and so let a wimp have the leadership for a time. Talk about accomplishing a goal! -
Muslims Protest in Pakistan against Islamofascism
sharkman replied to M.Dancer's topic in The Rest of the World
If this is a movement, I wonder how long it will be allowed to continue until the Islamist radicals decide to punish those countries as they have obviously done to the U.S.? -
Countdown to Israel's destruction has begun
sharkman replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
There is an ancient expression that I first read in the Bible that says something along the lines of he who is putting on his armour should not brag like one who is taking it off. Whatever Ahmadinejad's agenda, he is making a strike on his country more likely. -
China Again Caught Using Dangerous Ingredients
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in The Rest of the World
It's true, the powers that be in the West decided that China was going to keep our economy humming by pumping out cheap products to keep our inflation low. But it seems we have given the beast its head, and where we end up is anyone's guess. One thing is for sure, it will include China as a major player. I keep wishing North America could do some form of a European Union thing to counter China and the EU, but it seems unlikely. -
China Again Caught Using Dangerous Ingredients
sharkman replied to sharkman's topic in The Rest of the World
I've actually stopped buying chinese goods whenever I can. I have increasing concerns with Walmart, because so much of their products are made in China, so I don't shop there much anymore. But so much is made in China, it's alarming. -
A poisonous chemical has been found in Chinese manufactured toothpaste, and it will now be stopped at the border. This is all of the proof needed to begin stepping away from trade relations with China. Thousands of pets were sickened and put down as a result of eating food contaminated with product from China a couple of months ago, and now this. They obviously have no problem in cutting corners and making profit the only concern, and their workers suffer as well. Chinese manufacturers have also been pirating DVDs, CDs, and ignoring copyright and patent laws. They rip off the West and poison us. Will anything be done about it? Probably not.

This is what they do with the Palestinians, educate them to hate Jews and the West, otherwise keep them dumb and poor, a surefire way to keep unrest growing. If Americans or Canadians would have emigrated to an empty Palestine 50 years ago, it would be a thriving region by now with a peaceful people spreading spin off benefits to the entire area instead of wars and bombings.

... What a cruel and stupid comment. (from M.Dancer, I presume.) How many women and children does M.Dancer want killed? What's his body-count target of innocents to satisfy his bloodlust? But even as stupid as the idea of bombing Tehran is, does it compare to the stupidity of braying vicious foreign policy about a country you can't even locate? M.Dancer's title for this thread reveals an astonishing ignorance of geography -- HELLO! Iran is EAST of Iraq, not west. Oh, and HELLO, Iran is WEST of Afghanistan, not south. Wouldn't it be better for someone so ignorant of such simple basics to STFU for a change and let the grown-ups talk? He might even learn something. (...Okay it's a remote possibility, but it could happen.) And then bomb the Saudis. Edit: Well, aren't you getting uppity! Perhaps you have trouble handling the stress of thinking you are always right.

Venezuela nationalizes oil industry.
sharkman replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in The Rest of the World
The protests will probably result in no difference down there with Chavez's ego and paranoia preventing reason from carrying the day. At least the people can still get worked up about something, us Canadians are a pretty apathetic bunch. -
Rosie is convinced there was a conspiracy to get rid of her! When added to all of the other theories she believes, it's obvious she suffers from paranoid delusions, among other things. She's not brave, she's just another idiot.

Racism in Lethbridge Causes National Boycott of Tim Horton's
sharkman replied to Catchme's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
That's not a firable offence. People are far too sensitive, aren't they? Boycotting the whole chain over one young employee's idea of a joke is such a knee jerk reaction. -
It may or may not be an issue (how long have we been there?) , but when the election gets called and the Tories roll out their finely tuned attack ads, sound bites will rule the day, just like the famous "beer and popcorn" soundbite.
-
Sweet, they should make the attack ads in a collectible form, I'd love to keep them on my hard drive and watch them again and again. Anybody want to trade a Dion Weak Leader for two Mr. Dithers?

10 Things Christians and Atheists Can and Must Agree On....
sharkman replied to M.Dancer's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
So how would you feel if Pat Robertson ran for President and won? Maybe even Jim Bakker. And now Mitt Romney is in the race and has openly made his Mormonism a part of his candidacy, right down to his mormon underware. Newsflash, there's been a born again person in the White House for 6 years, and the last time I checked, no virgins had been sacrificed. Pat Robertson tried a couple times to run for prez, and he just couldn't get past first base, so stop worrying already! -
10 Things Christians and Atheists Can and Must Agree On....
sharkman replied to M.Dancer's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Here's most of number 6 from the original link, and I think atheists need to live and let live: Cyberpunk author Neal Stephenson wrote in one of his books - and this was probably just moments before the character was split in half by a robot weilding a samurai sword - that the only real sign of intelligence was the ability to detect subtlety. Anybody can memorize facts. But you remain a clumsy, intellectual oaf of a person as long as you keep looking for sheer black and white in every situation. That's what's so frustrating about politics, the way everybody wants to paint the two parties as angels vs. devils. And if you just said to yourself, "Yeah! Those evil ________ are always trying to polarize us that way!" then, guess what, you just did the same thing. So please, please, please, when we get into these atheist vs. Christian arguments, can the atheists stop acting like Christians want to abolish all science and live in grass huts? Just because some Christians reject the science on evolution, doesn't mean they reject all science. I mean, give me a break. America has been full of Christians since the day we invaded it, and has been a scientific and technological freaking superpower. So please stop waving your arms and warning that if Christians get their way, we'll all be sacrificing virgins on altars and replacing surgeons with priests. -
10 Things Christians and Atheists Can and Must Agree On....

Dancer, ignorance is bliss, isn't it? Atheists just can't realize that they worship at a shrine just like all of the good religious folk. -
10 Things Christians and Atheists Can and Must Agree On....
sharkman replied to M.Dancer's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Huh? Here is a definition of religion, from Wiki... A religion is a set of beliefs and practices generally held by a community, involving adherence to codified beliefs and rituals and study of ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction. Since I have neither beliefs nor practices, no rituals , no personal faith, no mysticism....I am a member of a religion? Talk about nutty. No, of course you are not a member of a religion. You are a member of something else. -
10 Things Christians and Atheists Can and Must Agree On....
sharkman replied to M.Dancer's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Atheism is a just another type of religious belief system. Fundamentalist atheists are as dogmatic as any radical christian or Muslim. Mao and Stalin singled out people who practiced traditional religions in their purges because they were a threat their atheistic ideology. Well spoken. -
So I take it that you agree with me that a "lie" is different from an "overrepresentation of facts" This is exactly what the fearmongers do with facts. I said nothing of the sort. You took it and added your bias and made it into something it is not.
