  1. Who am I to question your expertise in the field? You obviously are an objective expert in this field. Thanks for sharing. You are something special.
  2. Cross Canada Via Rail Trip. Something every Canadian should do before they die. A little pricey depending on accommodation desired but a life long experience.
  3. I do not know. Why not ask them? I speak for no one but myself.
  4. Not sure what this has to do with the Israelis targeting human rights groups looking to shield Palestinians from Israeli aggression. But, I do think this indicates that Rue is not a fan of Big Guy. Big Guy is truly disappointed. He cannot seem to get through to Rue's conscience so that Rue can appreciate the extent of the damage that the Israeli spreading cancer is doing to innocent Palestinians. Big Guy has shared some of Rue's "views" with Big Guys Jewish friends. They not only disagree with Rue's representations but suggest Rue is some rogue extremist Zionist giving rational Jews a bad name. They also suggest that he may be an anti-Semite anonymously creating a particularly distasteful character on this board to turn people off Jews. They may be right because he is certainly not painting a very pretty picture. But, fortunately, Big Guys Jewish friends are very nice people so his attitude towards Jews has not been clouded by Rue's ravings.
  5. There are the bigots whose answer to the causes of radicalization is the Muslim Faith. That theory has been discounted as simplistic, a waste of time and only adds to anti-Muslim sentiment which is destructive in our society. Those without prejudices, who have the professionalism, neutrality and intellect to have studied the phenomenon, have made some interesting conclusions: Conclusions But why deal with objective analysis when you can just spout your fear of the unknown.
  6. Perhaps, it is a good ideas that the posters here are anonymous: Targeting Human Rights Groups "Israel is behind it," Jabarin alleged. "Criminals, all the time, they are afraid. When you start searching and looking to identify them, they will become afraid. For them, it's easy to defeat politicians, but it's not easy for them to defeat the human rights defenders." Looks like Big Guy is saving himself from a few letters, calls and other threats.
  7. Even our aboriginal community has radical groups within it. When the confrontation in Caledonia first began, an RCMP friend warned me that this was going to get serious. He stated that Mohawk Warriors were flying in from different parts of North America. Many young disenfranchised aboriginals from all over Canada flocked to the site and continue to live on that occupied land.
  8. Do you really think we are talking about you and me? Teenagers have been seeking answers, hunting for causes and looking for affiliations in all generations. For a while, Hare Krishna provided some answers to some. Some youngsters join communes or biker gangs to fit in. In the USA, young teenage blacks got tired of being told they are not good enough so along come the Black Panthers who not only tell then they are good enough but also scare the hell out of white guys who are putting down the blacks. These Muslim kids do not have the Bloods or Crips or Triads or ... to join to express their frustrations so they join ISIS. I suggest that most of these kids have about as much knowledge of the Koran as do the folks on this board. Young, unemployed, berated and angry is a good combination for radicalization. Racism is damaging be it shrouded in intellectual jargon or blatantly hateful.
  9. Surprise! It appears the reason for radicalization in Canada is intolerance, bigotry and prejudice against minority groups. Intolerance And these folks who are just using "their freedom of speech" as an excuse to rationalize their questionable views feel that they are not really doing any damage. Guess what - you are part of the problem.
  10. I think Trump has already given up and is planning for the future. His new advisers and their specialties suggest that Trump may be setting up for creating a really far right wing media empire. He can use the campaign as a shrouded publicity for his new business. If he does get his 50 million votes then he will have an instant viewership and readership. Trump has never been one to miss an opportunity.
  11. I am convinced that you really believe that. If you did not then, you would not post those insults. As I have suggested in the past - you do not speak for anybody but yourself. For you to have the arrogance of speaking for "most posters" perhaps indicates how isolated your views are.
  12. Certainly, they should be allowed the prestige of being on the right side of issues. It would be like members of the KKK with their hoods on cursing immigrants for daring to enter Canada. But be careful, when you call someone moronic and a simple minded simpleton you are saying that YOU think that person is moronic and simple-minded simpleton. When others know the individual who are are disparaging is not what you say they are, does that then make YOU the moronic and simple-minded simpleton? That happens often on this board.
  13. I still contend that it will never happen. British parliament has to trigger it and there is not enough support to do so.
  14. My last name is difficult to pronounce for those who understand English only. Even in the 1960's when my peers were preparing for the work force it was common for immigrants to legally change their names - mainly to gain employment. This is nothing new. Still common to-day. I know a guy whose last name was Drumpf and he changed it to Trump. It appears to have helped him in business but apparently not in politics.
  15. No, the sky is not falling. I have listened to the same arguments supporting Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan, Korea and now this civil war in Iraq and Syria. It is fear mongering that has no basis in fact but serves only to rationalize the use of Canadian blood and treasure to support American expeditions. We have more people killed in lightening strikes than by terrorists - whatever definition one uses for "terrorist". And their goal to "invade"?? Their families have lived there for centuries and they are "invading"? It is the West which is invading.
  16. A resume is an application for an interview. People take courses on how to create a resume and how to adapt it to the particular job and/or company doing the hiring. Once you receive the resumes, the first thing you do is separate out those who have the basic qualifications. That is often done by the office manager or whoever does the "filtering". That process will often pare down the number greatly since many will apply only to have the company keep their resumes on file if/when a job opens up with examples of thousands of these - none having anything to do with race, religion, politics or assumed ability with the English Language. Once the interviews take place, then a whole number of different criteria kick in. I agree with BC_chick on this one. To make assumptions based on name would wrongly disqualify potentially excellent candidates and your company would suffer for it.
  17. I would probably disqualify a person who submitted a resume printed in pencil or lipstick. But I guess it would depend on the kind of job I was offering.
  18. First, please get the wording right, - It is "Do you want to fight them there or do you want to fight them here" - originally used during Vietnam war and more recently by our former government describing Afghanistan. How did we do in Afghanistan? As to ISIS and Canada, I suggest that they may first need a large tank or even something that flies in the air. At the moment, their air force is made up of folks flying kites and their navy consists of logs tied together guided by a guy with a long pole. None of these potential invasion nuclear weapon transportation devices will make it easily across the Mediterranean Sea and I doubt they can get across the Atlantic Ocean. No, I do not think they will come to our shores.
  19. Congratulations to another female Canadian winner - Bronze medal for Fine Lady 5. This filly was able to take a third place even with a 50 year old, over-the-hill, Eric Lamaze hanging on to share her success. I do question horses getting medals but I guess if sailboats and other kinds on inanimate objects can get those medals then horses should not be excluded. Looking forward to the future where they change the rules and allow monkeys to jockey these horses. At least they are entertaining as they ride pigs, dogs, cats and the odd pony.
  20. Fortunately, there are people around the world who are outraged at the way the Israeli government is treating the Palestinians; Protest At Soccer Game As more and more people get disgusted with the suppression and war crimes applied against the Palestinians, the closer Canada is to washing its hands if the Israeli state and stopping the Israeli cancer from absorbing the last remaining remnants of Palestinian soil.
  21. Why are you assuming that what you are told by our military is true? I lived through the Vietnam war. If you were to believe the American military daily briefings then they killed everybody in North Vietnam 2 times. We were winning against ISIS in 2014. We were winning against ISIS in 2015. We were winning against ISIS at the start of 2016 and we are kicking the hell out of them right now. We should be winning against them for the next few years until we declare victory and go home. Hey, it worked in Vietnam. The land ISIS controls is their traditional home. ISIS is made up mainly of Sunni former Iraqi Republican Guard and their families live there in the past, live there now and will live there in the future. This latest American "excursion" will end just like Vietnam. Same invader, same kind of warfare, same tactics - so why not same result? Get our Canadian troops the heck out of there before they start being shipped home in bags.
  22. My major disappointment in these Olympics is the lack of spectators blowing their Vuvuzelas. I remember watching the World Cup of soccer as these horns bleated, people were pulling their hats over their ears, announcers wearing ear muffs and TV fans watching with the sound turned off. Oh those good old days ....
  23. The cab driver who was caught in the crossfire is not happy. Apparently, he was sitting in the driveway for 5 minutes waiting for his fare before he came out, sat down and the shooting started: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/08/18/aaron-driver-taxi_n_11584396.html He might have a point. The police could have moved in before he exited the house. It appears that the police used the taxi to get this guy out in the open where they could deal with him. "Why did the police put my life jeopardy? They did absolutely nothing to help me at any time,'' Duffield told the newspaper. "They did absolutely nothing at any time to prevent me from getting in that situation.'' Does not appear a big deal but I wonder how you would feel if the cab driver was your husband, son, bother or other relative.
