  1. Sure seems that they have the US by the short hairs...
  2. So being able to spew your little thoughts and comments in rapid fire succession because of voice dictation is being smart? I don't think me or anyone else is restricted with how much or little can be said because we 'type' it. Just involves a bit more time for lengthier comments, surprisingly. Why the emoji with the tongue hanging out....again?
  3. You definitely have me confused with someone else...
  4. Possibly if you would have matriculated beyond that noted Grade 6 education you'd have realized we're not talking about China. We're talking about your comment on lesser trade with the US. Pay attention little guy... I know exactly what the reduction of trade with the US means and why it declined last year.... do you? To my original comment... significantly high tariffs are meant to discourage trade, and the reason why we saw lesser trade with the US last year specifically in the steel, aluminum, auto and lumber sectors. Following along...? Stay focused.... we're not talking about energy, China, the HSR project, or Champaigns wife. Let me know if you're not following why our trade with the US declined last year....
  5. It's the other way around... we were the ones who were provoked which is why we looked to China and that opportunity. Mexico sells over 300K Chinese vehicles. Obviously Trump doesn't want us building cars...we need to look at other options, not roll over. The unions will want to build cars from any country if they're not building them for US companies. I'm sure that if a vehicle can be built to Chinese manufacturer spec using Canadian made parts and labor nobody is going to have a problem with that. Not sure what the chances of that happening might be though... I'm glad you or anyone who thinks alike is negotiating this, or anything else for us. So what if it's uncomfortable...that's part of negotiating. The #1 rule though is to not bend over willingly as you suggest we do... Clearly we're not bowing to him, or a deal would be done right? Of course we don't hold all the cards, but we do have a pretty good hand that is playing well right now with the cost of living pressures Trump is facing from his constituents. Don't forget the fact the US relies on us as both a customer and supplier...
  6. Hopefully the people negotiating this for us know that... Where are we? Last I saw from the US guy not all concerns will be resolved by July 1, but most will. Waiting only benefits us with more pressure on Trump.... no revival of manufacturing jobs, just tariff inflation.
  7. Not everyone 'gets it' like you do... Ever stop to think that exports are meant to lessen trade when a country puts significantly high tariffs on another? We had a 6% decline in exports to the US past year and an increase of 17% to non-US countries last year. We'll get normalized with the US whenever that may be, but we need other partners, obviously...
  8. That's a good one!!! The power of positive thinking 👍 😂
  9. Yikes... Keep loading up on BN and you'll be fine...eventually.
  10. Why do we need the US to explain who we should or shouldn't trade with. We're not antagonizing the US with bringing in a Chinese vehicle when ~20% of Mexico's EV sales are Chinese built. We're both part of the NA auto supply chain so any comments were just that and to be protective of their business. Trump even said earlier this year that he was open to seeing China invest in plants in the US and with US labor. And hell yes we should do that here if the opportunity came about and be damned what Trump says. Competition is a good thing, and a good way for Canada to pivot more into EV production. You're of the opinion we should bow to the US and do as Trump says. Fortunately we elected a guy who doesn't think that same way.
  11. No, your beliefs that it's just one big conspiracy doesn't work for me. If it helps to ease the sting of losing though, have at it.
  12. Yep, our Finance Minister, Governor BOC, CPP investments, leaders of big six Canadian banks, leaders of our largest financial services.... and all not having the country's best interests at heart. Maybe they didn't think anyone would notice the trip...?
  13. But they would be the best damn pipelines and refineries you've ever seen... We absolutely should be going all in, with the electricity MOU a good place to start by connecting all provinces to a national grid. Usage is expected to double in the next 25 years while oil will be on its way out, if not already. Time to get ahead of the game rather than playing catch-up.
  14. Yes I am. I'm curious why you think separating is good for the 'province' when the clear consensus is that separation would severely hurt the 'province' with economic, fiscal and logistics challenges.
  15. I'm curious to hear your reasoning of why Alberta shouldn't remain part of Canada. End of the day it's a moot point because it's not going to happen for a myriad of reasons.... then what, do you leave or stay and keep crying all day long?
  16. She stated the incentive; she's "heard clearly from constituents that you want serious leadership and a real plan to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy."
  17. It was a monumental chore and cost but they did get their pipeline which as you note is expanding, and my 2 cents, good enough with maybe the exception of revisiting Keystone. BC salmon never got/gets the national attention Alberta gets with oil so not surprised in the least Ottawa would say it's our fish when you don't have the wider audience being critical of policy. I'm curious if a proponent is in the background for a northern pipeline or if one will come forward, but I think a real argument can be made that oil's longer term status took another big hit with this US/Iran war. Asian countries who are feeling this more than energy rich countries and you'd have to think that ramping up their investments in renewable energy is going to be the priority moving forward which will only help oil demand peak out earlier than that 2030/35 timeframe. That's not going to stop Alberta from lobbying for Ottawa's help in building them own any direction they can, and blaming them when it can't happen.
  18. Absolutely.... crying, complaining and pointing fingers is getting real tiring and only goes so far.
  19. No doubt that our federal government did little to nothing to support the province's resources, so can see their argument to a certain point. It's exactly that culture war and intellectual garbage that you note for the reason I can't get my head around how and why people think they way they do...for the AB separation and a lot of society today. Being from Ontario you're probably in a good sized part of the population that is from elsewhere besides AB...
  20. I think you're bang on in that this is a FO message to the federal government, but can't see any way this will gather a great deal of support in a referendum. I've read the same that people have signed to have that voice to the federal government, but the economic reality is that it would cripple the province.
  21. Very... They seem to be oblivious to the fact that a mass exodus of capital and people would leave the province immediately, taking all that revenue with them. Moot point.... this isn't going anywhere except for identifying 177K + fools.
  22. They obviously don't share the same concerns by wanting to amp up the finance and trade relationships. Look at the positives though... Assuming you've worked (?), CPP Investments will again be allocating a larger portion of their fund mix into China. They're watching you...
  23. So, you were just being dramatic again with the 'national suicide' thing... No need for me to tell my kids anything. They're old enough and smart enough to understand and make their own choices of who they support politcally.
