It's not weird at all. It's how we pay for police, fire, emergency services, schools, parks, recreation and culture, water, garbage removal, etc... You (or the bank) owns the home, but pay for these services. Not sure what happens if you refuse to pay property taxes but doubt they would 'take' your home but rather put a lien on it or have you apply to defer your taxes with interest until you can pay them, or the home is sold.

I understand the pay when doors are closed that I gather is industry practice but haven't dove into enough. Totally agree. The now typical political divisivness appears to be part of America's very core. For the life of me I can't see how that benefits the country and the people short or long time. In fact, it has and will continue to lend itself to a lesser global leadership position and weaker ally relationships as the divisiveness grows.
