What Canadians, east and west, revere is good government, which in this age is a mix of basic freedoms, capitalism, and socialized programs that benefit the many and protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. These are thing you'll find in almost every every rich democracy.

Last year I worked on a really, really huge building being built by a bio-agriculture company. They are growing insect protein (mealworms I think) initially as animal feed but eventually to be incorporated into human's food. Sound like a good idea - Large amounts of protein grown quickly and efficiently without clearing more forests, or adding large amounts of waste products.. This is simply a type of farming. I'd rather have a bug than a cow's rectum in my hot-dog. And if private industry is willing to invest hundreds of millions in it, there must be something to it.
