Not that simple - read carefully: CNBC June 27, 2025: The U.S. and China have confirmed details of a trade framework that seeks to allow rare earth exports and easing of tech restrictions, according to a statement released by China’s Ministry of Commerce on Friday afternoon. China will review and approve export applications for items subject to export control rules, while the U.S. will correspondingly cancel a range of existing restrictive measures imposed against Beijing, a spokesperson for the ministry said in the statement, without elaborating. Donald Trump said Thursday at an event in the White House that “we just signed with China yesterday.” A White House official later clarified that the administration and China had agreed to “an additional understanding of a framework to implement the Geneva agreement.” While China’s latest statement is “encouraging,” it is important to temper expectation, said Alfredo Montufar-Helu, senior advisor for the China center at think tank The Conference Board, pointing to the lack of details on which rare earth export curbs will be relaxed, other than magnets. As both sides view the rare earths as “a crucial bargaining chip in future negotiations,” trade in these goods will likely remain constrained, Montufar-Helu added. Seems like they only reached an agreement to try to come to an agreement. Lot of weasel-words there. The strange part is why the US won't apply a DST. 2 or 3% would bring in so much money, and why should digital businesses making huge profits not pay at least a small tax. Oh yeah, Zuckerberg and the others give Trump hundreds of millions. That's why. Their excessive greed is is astonishing.

So you're blaming Carney because King DonJon the first is a temperamental 7 year old who only knows the last thing someone told him. And all those someones are moronic toadies or grasping greedy tech giants. PeePee never would have let this happen! Serves us right for thinking we have our own country!!!

Dare you to actually leave the house and say that to a first nation person. Racist. A new report from the Atlantic Economic Council last week showed just how strong the region’s Indigenous economy has become. The report put the total economic impact of Indigenous businesses and communities at $6.2 billion of GDP in 2021, about 4.5 percent of region’s total output. (The available numbers are a few years old the but the trends have continued.) The sector supported 89,000 jobs, about eight percent of Atlantic Canada’s total and contributed $2.1 billion in tax revenue to government coffers. Overall, the Indigenous economy is 27 percent bigger than agriculture, double the size of the aerospace and defence industries, and has roughly 13 times the economic impact of international students attending university in the region.

Barquentine replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Why stop there? Arrest anyone with a nose ring, drawn eyebrows, pierced earrings, gaudy makeup, dyed hair, no hair, beards, false eyelashes, sunglasses... F*ck it, arrest anyone you don't like the look of! -
Prediction: Poilievre will never be PM

If that's true I won't cite him again. However I did hear Andrew Coyne say Poilievre's numbers were sinking. Just couldn't recover the quote. Oh well... -

Wha?? Carney-68% approval Poilievre-33% approval (https://www.ekospolitics.com/index.php/2025/06/june-2025-political-update/) 54 days since the election. WTF do you expect, finger snapping miracles? -
Prediction: Poilievre will never be PM

I actually voted Conservative in our last provincial election, but I've had occasion to second-guess that. Not worried. Just the opposite - glad he lost. If we had one I would be. -
Prediction: Poilievre will never be PM
Barquentine replied to Barquentine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Only worried for the Conservatives. Believe it or not I would like to see them as a strong sensible centrist party. But another reason PP won't succeed is because he will have to suck up to the far right, the way things stand. -
So he's gonna win his safe seat in Con country - too cowardly to run in Ont. But what if he wins by a smaller margin than they got in the general election? And he has to face a leadership review in Jan. (Of course he won't step down after blowing their huge lead.) Hopefully there's one or two Conservatives with the heft and sense to challenge him. And if he survives that he'll still be the unlikeable guy Canadians rejected and have that losing track record. PeePee better hope some world wide disaster causes huge inflation, or we find out Carney's a closet cannibal. Otherwise he'll never be PM.

I'm actually surprised! You're more of a liar and a much bigger sack of sh!t than I thought. You haven't provided one iota of proof and you're still lying about it. Kinda jealous though. Must be comforting to be so blissfully ignorant, to believe you're always right when you're actually wrong at least 70% of the time. Those of us who live in the real world don't have that smug contentment.

Any proof that he hid anything from ethics commissioner? In 2023, at least 128 of Canada’s 338 MPs — 38% of Parliament — own rental or investment properties, including 61 Liberals, 53 Conservatives, six Bloc Quebecois, four NDP members, and both Green MPs. This is your definition of a 'major scandal'? You reek of desperation. How many Conservative ministers had scandals in the last 10 years? Oh yeah - none - 'cause they can't win an election!
