Firstly, Trump had no input into this document. He thinks the Monroe Doctrine was Marylin's physician. This is a man described by high ranking members in his first administration as "totally ignorant and uncurious" and "breathtakingly stupid" This is straight out of Project 2025's scheme to move the US backward. https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/trump-strategy-document-revives-monroe-doctrine-slams-europe-2025-12-05/ The National Security Strategy, which is released by every new administration... "The National Security Strategy, released overnight, argued that the U.S. should revive the 19th century Monroe Doctrine, which declared the Western Hemisphere to be Washington's zone of influence." Yes! Marching proudly into the 19th century! "President Trump's foreign policy is pragmatic without being 'pragmatist,' realistic without being 'realist,' principled without being "idealistic," muscular without being 'hawkish,' and restrained without being 'dovish,'" the 29-page document says." WTF does that mean??? ..."its traditional allies in Europe face "civilizational erasure" "...within a few decades at the latest, certain NATO members will become majority non-European." "Some European commentators said the document echoed talking points of far-right European political parties..." Ah... Cue the racism! "The document also alludes to China’s growing economic clout in Latin America." https://responsiblestatecraft.org/trump-corollory/ "Francisco Urdinez's “Economic Displacement: China and the End of US Primacy in Latin America” shows the reason China has made such significant inroads in the Americas is because of U.S. retrenchment, especially in South America." This administration has no clue about the importance of 'Soft Power'. China does. "That said, the very term “Trump Corollary” to the Monroe Doctrine recalls the “Roosevelt Corollary” coined by President Theodore Roosevelt to justify what came to be known as U.S. “gunboat diplomacy” which led to the U.S. invasion and occupation of several Central American and Caribbean countries, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Nicaragua, among others." In other words: Invade, suppress, pillage... "Yet the economic dimension should be as much of a concern. It betrays a woefully wrongheaded understanding of the nature of Latin American economies, how they interact with the rest of the world, and what needs to be done to foster the region’s development." Nuance? We dont need no stinking nuance! "Nothing reflects this better than the very last sentence of the section on the Western Hemisphere, which states “we should make every effort to push out foreign companies that build infrastructure in the region.” Though the document emphasizes how significant a resilient infrastructure is for the U.S. economy, when it comes to Latin America, there is an odd guiding thread pointing in the opposite direction, seemingly determined to stop in its tracks regional infrastructure expansion if a foreign entity is building it." Nothing I can add to that. To be fair, the US's treatment of Central and South America is not a Trump or Republican thing. Both parties act the same. But uplifting your client states would be better economics in the long run, a win-win on trade and immigration. P.S.: Canada's mining companies don't have the best history in the region, either.

So all those Canadians who spend a lot of time, money and effort holding on to their Scottish roots have no allegiance to Canada? Is Oktoberfest a problem? -

Yeah, those church bells are annoying. And of course, white Canadian men never raped women. That only started after non-European people started coming here... -

Yeah, that's what Conmen do! Thats Con 101. You're so gullible. Which reminds me, I've got some great investment opportunities for you. Get in on the ground floor. Quadruple your money in 6 months. But don't tell anybody else... You probably send money to Nigerian Princes... Saying Trump isn't a Conman is like saying Crosby doesn't play hockey. I'm surprised, sorry and ashamed for you. -

So you've been forced to pray in a mosque? Wear a turban? Get circumsized? Eat curry and couscous? Which immigrants are doing this to you? I'd call the cops if I were you. Are you ok with spaghetti and wine? (Damn immigrants making us eat and drink their slop!) And don't get me started on cricket and rap music! -

Conservative Amendment Defeated Yet another proof that PeePee can't do anything but play stoopid political games, waste Parliament's time and Candians' money and another reason why Canadians don't like him and he'll never be PM. He will always sit at the kid's table in Canadion politics. -

Have you seen the asslicking all his cabinet members give him at the start of every meeting? -
So now you can call for the deaths of one group if your millenia old religious text says it's ok? "The Bloc Québécois is planning to introduce an amendment to a Liberal government bill" You didn't mention that. "The reality is I don't think people should be using the Bible, the Qur'an or the Torah to escape from committing a hate crime or claim that the hate — what would otherwise be a hate crime — is done in the name of a religious text," Miller told reporters on Parliament Hill. Pierre Poilievre posted on his X account that the change would "criminalize sections of the Bible, Qur'an, Torah and other sacred texts." Poilievre doesn't get the difference? It's not the texts. It's people using the texts to condone hate crimes and get away with it. I think Quebec goes too far on religious freedoms and dress codes, etc... but this seems like it might be a good loophole to close.

OMG, do a simple google search on Stephen Harper scandals. Or how he routinely shut down Parliament when things weren't going his way... Is that like the Notwithstanding clause that Alberta and Quebec are so fond of? Allows them to do whatever they want? Does this override provincial powers? On the face of it this doesn't look good. It's like other countries are doing, centralising more power in the federal leader's office. How it's implemented will be very telling. " Division 5 of Part 5 amends the Red Tape Reduction Act to, among other things, authorize ministers to grant temporary exemptions from the application of provisions of certain Acts of Parliament and instruments with the aim of facilitating the design, modification or administration of regulatory regimes to encourage innovation, competitiveness or economic growth. Conditions: (3)A minister may make an order under subsection (1) only if the minister is of the opinion that (a)the exemption is in the public interest; (b)the exemption would enable the testing of, among other things, a product, service, process, procedure or regulatory measure with the aim of facilitating the design, modification or administration of a regulatory regime to encourage innovation, competitiveness or economic growth; (c)the benefits associated with the exemption outweigh the risks; (d)sufficient resources exist, and appropriate measures will be taken, to maintain oversight of the testing, manage any risks associated with the exemption and protect public health and safety and the environment; and (e)a feasible implementation plan has been developed. Public Information 14(1)Subject to subsections (2) and (3), a minister must, as soon as feasible after making an order under section 12, make the order and the following information publicly accessible: (a)a description of the decision-making process and a summary of the reasons for the order; and (b)a description of the process for providing comments or information to, or requesting information from, the minister in relation to the order." There are some guard rails. How would the Conservatives get big projects done? Will they reverse this if they get into office?
