You are literally driving away industry when your country bans coal, moves away from coal, but then has no problems selling it all to China to just use there instead. There are no standards for the left. The DOJ set up someone like Flynn to get caught in the dumbest of "lies" that even the interviewing FBI agents didn't really think were lies, they then leveraged going after his family vindictively to force him to plead guilty, and go after him and Democrats cheered that on. Now... all of a sudden, the technicality of lying under oath in a deposition is just no big deal...

I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying people with schizophrenia are incapable of making decisions about their lives. Obviously that's not true. What I'm questioning is whether we can reliably determine that the desire to die isn't itself part of the illness. That's what makes this different from something like cancer. If a guy has terminal cancer, the cancer isn't convincing him that his life has no value. It's killing him regardless of what he thinks. With schizophrenia, severe depression, and other psychiatric illnesses, hopelessness, despair, suicidal thoughts, distorted thinking, etc. can all be part of the condition itself. So how do you separate a truly rational, settled desire to die from the illness talking? And once you accept psychological suffering alone as justification for MAID, where does the line actually get drawn? You gave an example of someone with schizophrenia for 40 years. Okay. What about someone with severe depression for 20 years? What about someone who has been suicidal for 15 years? What about someone with PTSD who says they're never going to get better? Every time I hear these discussions, the line keeps moving. My concern isn't that people with mental illness have no agency. My concern is that we're asking the state to decide when a desire to die is a symptom that should be treated and when it's a wish that should be facilitated. That's a line I don't think anyone can draw with nearly the confidence people pretend they can.

This is my point. The person has no agency to make a life-ending decision then. Now you are promoting the system, declaring people's lives are not worth living.

These things are true. However, the largest cultural impact missing here is no father in the home. Statistics show, that broken homes, single mothers, are the greatest indicator of a child being involved in criminal activity and just about any other negative outcome in life from graduating high school, job, money, just about everything. We need to stop celebrating single motherhood as if it is some form of the greatest role in a persons life. Yes, single mothers who work hard and do all they can should be thanked, but the act of being a single mother should not be. We need to celebrate marriages, families, and the presence of fathers in kids' lives.

This is absurd. Many of these people are free to leave anytime they choose, to return to their home country. They are being detained because they have chosen to unlawfully remain in the United States, evade existing removal orders, and/or are actively fighting their deportation. It is no more a concentration camp than any jail or prison is for locking up criminals pending procedure. If leftists are so upset about detaining these ILLEGAL immigrants, stop funding their endless legal appeals that only drag out how long they are being detained. Help them leave the country and return to their home country.
