What worries me about a Biden 2nd Term

How is he a dictator for one day that makes the Constitution go away? I am not dense, but you cannot articulate anything reasonable here to justify your fears. -
Israelis Are Hostages of Netanyahu
User replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Do you agree with the article then? Wow... where do you get such wild hyperbole from, to claim that nearly every pundit agrees Netanyahu is using the war to distract from and evade his legal problems? Never mind, that is merely an argument from the popularity fallacy. I do pay attention to the news. Thanks for your concern. So... your real issue is just one of semantics over the word provoke. Got it. You don't think Netanyahu "provoked" Hamas, you think he gave them the opportunity to invade by purposefully leaving the metaphorical door open. OK, fine. Back to the evidence part... if there was evidence that Netanyahu did that, why is the current opposition going along with him in the War Cabinet? Where is this evidence he acted so nefariously? -
That Bill was dead on arrival in the House whether Trump ever said a word or not. Either way, that is an irrelevant side point to the issue we are discussing here, which is the motivation as to why many in the GOP voted no. The lack of support for that particular bill doesn't mean there was no support for action. The House did pass comprehensive Immigration last year... which died in the Senate controlled by Democrats. My exact words were not that the total amount of votes for no were a small fraction, but the amount of those no votes that were opposed to the $$$ because they did in fact oppose $$$ going to Ukraine either way, was a small fraction. The point of my post was that many of those no votes were no votes because they wanted to see it tied to border legislation. What do you base calling it a lie on?

No, the facts are accurate. The National Debt trend increased substantially under Obama. Your argument is false because if it were merely the Bush tax cuts causing it, the pace would have remained the same, not increased as dramatically as it did. No, Bidens deficits are not substantially lower at all: 2017: 700 Billion - TRUMP 2018: 800 Billion - TRUMP 2019: 1 Trillion - TRUMP 2020: 3.1 Trillion - TRUMP (Also Pandemic $$$) 2021: 2.8 Trillion - BIDEN (Also Pandemic $$$) 2022: 1.4 Trillion - BIDEN 2023: 1.7 Trillion - BIDEN 2024: 1.6 Trillion - BIDEN - Estimated

I was just curious if you paid any attention to the debt and deficit spending while Obama was President? It does not appear you have at all. Since GW Bush, both parties have continued to spend more recklessly. Obama took what Bush started to new levels, and Trump kept at that pace, with Biden and the Pandemic spending accelerating it even more.

Israelis Are Hostages of Netanyahu
User replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
So, you use an article you disagreed with to support your saying it is clear from that same article that Netanyahu is prolonging the war for his gain? Interesting. So, your quibble here is that you didn't use the word provoke, but that you did clearly mean provoke? I am not sure that is a meaningful distinction to the point being made here. -

This was not a quote from the article. This was your added commentary: "It is clear that Netanyahu has every incentive to continue the war as long as possible to avoid the legal consequences he faces. Just like Trump delays his TRIALS." -

You have previously said here: "They are doing NOTHING to achieve peace with the Palestinians. Netanyahu was funneling $MILLIONS to Hamas for the last couple of years to drive a wedge between them and the Palestine Authority, and that backfired spectacularly. IMO, that, combined with Israeli KNOWLEDGE of Hamas plans, NOT being prepared for them, AND near total destruction of Gaza, proves complicity for the purpose of the goal or Netanyahu's extreme hard right coalition: eviction of Palestinians. Several of Netanyahu's ministers are OPENLY calling for that NOW. Additional evidence is the continual illegal expansion of West Bank settlements." -

A lot less healthy... how? Trump is out on the campaign trail non-stop, holding rallies and giving speeches, except when he is being dragged into court. Biden has to have his handlers escort him off stage or away from almost all questions from the Press almost daily. He had to be rescued from questions Easter before last by a person dressed up as the Easter Bunny. Trump is an old man and an all-around circus clown... but trying to pretend like Biden is somehow in better health when he is clearly not all there mentally or physically is just absurd on its face. How will Trump nullify the Constitution based on saying he would be a dictator on day one? I am not terrified by obvious figures of speech that Trump can't do, even if he did mean a real dictator. -
Immigration Enforcement Does Work
User replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Nothing new here. This stuff should be common sense. When you have someone like Biden and the Democrats take office, where they immediately enact something like 90+ Executive Orders to weaken our border security policies, they openly encourage illegal immigration through action and words. Guess what? More people flock to the borders. -

Israel is currently under a war cabinet, with the opposition party leader in that cabinet. This is little more than a left-wing talking point right now, trying to make it appear as if Netanyahu is some dictator. The man was elected to his position before this, and Israel has had an election every year or two prior. Israel is a Democracy. Netanyahu has been elected many times. -
Or... you might consider what those Republicans and many of their constituents are demanding: Serious legislation to secure our border. Yes, there is a small fraction of the GOP that, for any amount of flawed reasoning, does oppose sending more aid to Ukraine, just as there is that kind of fraction of the Democrats who also oppose aid to Israel. Most of the Republicans who voted no on Ukraine aid were doing so because they wanted to see an aid package and legislation improving our border security first or something more to control our budget deficit/debt.

Are there not enough moderators on the site to help manage this? I have been waiting for days now to have a post approved and it is not the weekend. There needs to be a better process to prove we are not bots. Note: I am still not approved as I am posting this message. -
Should Evictions for Failing to Pay Rent be Immediate?
User replied to a topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
No. Renting or leasing a home is not the same as buying a meal or other service. Your entire livelihood is tied to living somewhere. There should be a fair amount of time for the two parties to resolve their differences. I rented for a bit, and my landlord upped my rent, and my autopay was still set to the old amount. They immediately proceeded with an eviction notice the next day when I was short 25 dollars. Should I have been evicted immediately for failure to pay? No. I understand why they started the eviction process as quickly as they did. Even after the initial notice, they have to give you time, and they want to start that clock as soon as possible. -
Polls may not always be perfect, but they can be a good indicator of outcomes. Still, there is a way to go until the election; a lot can happen, but the current trends have been in Trump's favor, and compared to the polls from the last two elections, these are some of the best polling numbers Trump has had... and he won in 2016 with worse polls and was not too far off from winning some of these battle ground states in 2020.
