Doug Ford pausing ad that prompted Trump to cancel trade talks | Toronto Sun Ontario Premier Doug Ford will pause his U.S. ad campaign featuring a province-produced television spot that sparked anger in the Donald Trump White House, after a chat with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Yup, carney caved again. Trump didn't like what he saw and Carney got a talking to and now ford has gotten a talking to. Apperently they already paid for the world series spot so that'll still happen but then it's back to "heel, sit, stay".

Copium Why look at you, managing portmanteaus and all And they say the american school system is so bad Same way we do now. And right now most of that money goes to us manufcaturers. Canada is the largest US export market for passenger vehicles and light trucks: US exports of $23 bn USD in 2024 – more than US exports to Germany, Mexico and China combined. $23 billion a year is a lot of money to attract other countries car manufacturers It's also a lot of money for American car manufacturers to lose Most of those cars were made in Canada. So one way or another it turns out we can make cars that people want to buy. I'm sure china would love to make $25 billion a year selling cars made in Canada. Sorry kiddo, trump and you badly misunderstood the numbers on that one. Canadians are EXACTLY the type to agree en masse to stop buying us cars and buy canadian made subaru's and toyotas and volkswagens and kia's and bdy's. In fact the last 3 vehicles i bought, one was a ford and 2 were toyota. I won't miss the us manufacturers at all

Donald Trump's a Dictator Because...
CdnFox replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
harris would have been far worse. She was an incompetent candidate and was being controlled by people behind the scenes, they would never have known who was really in charge Trump makes a lot of noise, but things are generally better for the usa. Fewer wars, the economy seems to be coming around, inflation under control, etc. -
Carney did nothing months ago. The provinces aren't working with each other at all and in fact some have raised their tariffs on their neighbors since then. Carney promised that he would substantially end inter provincial trade barriers by leading the provinces and working with them to find new relationships and arrangements. He has done none of that. The problem is he's incompetent. He could see that free trade amongst the provinces was something that was necessary but you didn't understand the politics involved and he didn't have the relationships built over the years to bring everyone on board So he made a promise he couldn't keep because he thought people like you would vote for him. It's reprehensible. He sold Canadians on the idea that he could handle trump, which he couldn't. And that in any case he could eliminate trade barriers for provinces so that we did a lot more business in Canada. And he couldn't You need to understand that this guy is every bit as much of a disaster as Justin Trudeau was and our economy is going to suffer accordingly

You could live without it but Quebec would not. And that's why we're not hearing the details, carney has to be careful about things that will cost him the next election but he doesn't want it to appear that he's being careful for that reason. I've never heard of negotiations going on this long without comment as to what the issues are and how they're going. When doesn't want to do all this negotiations in the public forum but businesses and Canadians deserve to know what the issues are. In any case I think we have to accept that at the very least the automotive industry will be largely lost and the question now is how do we recover from that I suspect the supply management simply can't continue either. It's a sore point for trump and he will win that one if he keeps at it

Meme/Cartoon of the Day

Mark Carney talks to Canada's youth about the budget and sacrifices they may have to make -
He could move to granville street and get shanked by an immigrant with mental health issues, that's pretty much a weekly event now. That' would spike my irony meter as well
-
Well not necessarily from asia, it might be possible to talk a few European car manufacturers into expanding operations here as well. But something. The problem is it's not just manufacturing the cars but also the parts But yeah, basically finding new markets that would be interested in opening up here to build would be a good solution. But that does take time and Ontario is going to get beat up pretty badly with the loss of the industry

Jeez don't pass him off on to us for god's sake!
-
See? Told you that you'd forget shortly, that's the best part of having cognitive memory failure So you're lucky there!
-
I suppose that would indeed fit I have said many times that the left is all about violence and hatred these days.
-
Got you crying again though i see LOL Really having a bad morning aren't ya little guy Well don't worry, you'll probably forget by this afternoon
-
It really didn't. It just stated why he was pro free trade. Nothing in there ever suggested there was no time when restrictions aren't warranted. It's an ad, it's not a history lesson. The ad isn't misleading or lying, that's over the top. It's fine to point out that reagan did believe in appropriate tarffs where necessary but he was still pro free trade and that was why.
-
LOL no it wasn't And there's nothing wrong with that, reagan can have one viewpoint that's appropriate in his day and age and trump can have a different gameplan suitable for this day and age and they don't have to be the same. Yeash, everyone knows Reagan was pro free trade, that doesn't mean every president after him has to be or even SHOULD be
-
Yeah you've seen that before. Must be your short term memory issues kicking in again. That can happen with heavy drug use
-
Two things can be true The third and most likely one is the isp shut it down entirely to prevent legal liability. That does happen fairly regular.
