In about 10 seconds you could dump both mags - that's likely 60 life threatening hits. Pull the next two and you've got the crowd running away in terror and easy pickings. So what happens is they've made laws (in various provinces) making it neceessary for stratas to allow rentals. Now individual investors can buy a condo and rent it. it doesn't matter. They're renting them out. Which means the number of homes available to live in hasn't changed. And the prices are driven by the market which is driven by availability. So foreign ownership makes NO difference at all. Air bnb makes a far bigger difference to be honest. Again - this is very very simple math. If there's more homes than there are people then prices go down for purhcase and/or rental. and it doesn't matter who owns them. If there are not enough homes prices shoot through the roof and it doesn't matter who owns them. If we had enough homes the foriegners could buy whatever they liked, woudn't matter. AND - they wouldn't be INTERESTED in doing so because the prices woudn't be skyrocketing. Build enough homes and this all goes away. Unfortunately the way things are designed currently that's not really possible.
