“My side” didn’t do anything. A mob of people did something bad. They aren’t “my people,” they aren’t “my side”, they aren’t “my team.” I didn’t send them a “I love you” tweet. Who asked them to come to Washington? Nobody. Who organized planes and buses to bring them there? Nobody. Who arranged for the President to address them and encourage them to stop Trump from taking office? Nobody. I feel sorry for you that you think these random street punks are somehow the same as the organized mob who stormed the US Capitol for the first time in its history. I don’t really understand how you get through life if you equate these things. The mob on January 6 was there because Donald Trump told them to be there. They marched on the Capitol because Donald Trump told them to. And then, the GOP leadership refused to admit those two obvious facts.

It was not coordinated by any political leaders. No Democrat sent them a Tweet saying, “I love you.” It was a mob of criminals, who were arrested, as they should be. January 6, 2021 was a deliberate effort of Donald Trump to illegally and unconstitutionally remain in office. HE SAID SO HIMSELF: “We are going to stop the steal.” It was insane! He had been told in no uncertain terms by his advisors and by 60 judges and the Supreme Court that he had lost, but he insisted he won. He told his supporters the election had been “stolen” from him. We have Bannon on tape stating that if Trump lost he would do everything to insist he won and to stay in power. Five police officers died because Donald Trump lied to his supporters and his supporters believed him. He is a sick man.

What are you talking about? No mob sacked the US Capitol to overturn the election of Donald Trump. Barack Obama did not claim the election was fake and he didn’t try to stay in power.

Science is not a religion. Facts are facts.

Religious leaders have always hated science. But where do they turn to when they’re sick? Who cures their lung infections, their tooth decay, their burst appendix? Who gets them to work? Do they pray their way to work, or do they drive there? God is God and you cannot change God. No science can change God. No science can disprove God. With everything we know about Big Bang Theory and Evolution, does it mean God played no role? No! Science does not disprove God. But does science prove that the world is billions of years old, and that biological evolution and DNA are the tools of our creation? Yes, definitely so. Of course God could have been behind this; science only explains the mechanisms. By doubting obvious scientific facts, you doubt God.

Genesis does not mention lesbianism. In his Sermon on the Mount, if you read it not microscopically, but you take it in as a whole, what Christ is telling us is that we should live moral lives in modesty, and that judgement of our moral behavior is up to the Lord, not mankind. He tells us not to pray loudly at temple, or on the street corner, but instead to pray modestly, at home. Because our relationship to the Lord is between the individual and the Lord. It is not for governments to impose upon people. Christ tells us not to divorce; don’t even have impure thoughts about another person. Those are the things that are inconvenient. Telling others how to live their lives is religion of convenience. There is the difference.

Well said. In the 1970’s, scientists discovered that gasses called CFC’s, which were used as aerosol propellants and refrigerants, were destroying Earth’s ozone layer. This would lead to excess UV radiation, leading first to excessive skin cancer but eventually destroying vegetation, which is the basis of life. So CFC’s were banned worldwide. They still are. We came up with alternatives and we use them. We didn’t have the GOP senselessly ignoring the science. In another example, Southern California became enmeshed in a form of air pollution called smog. This was caused by pollutants from cars becoming trapped in LA Basin and interacting with the sunlight. It was so bad that you could barely see across the street!! Really! So California created their own emissions standards, and after fifteen years, the air cleared up. It worked! These photos show LA enmeshed in smog in the 1940’s and 1950’s.

A mob of thousands attacked the US Capitol because they were conned into thinking an election was “stolen,” even though they had been shown absolutely no evidence whatsoever of fraud. How do you call that smart?

Unbelievably stupid if you to think the price of petroleum is not priced globally. Exxon and Chevron ship US produced petroleum worldwide to whoever will buy it. There’s not law keeping that oil inside America.

Dude... We aren't going to decommission every power plant in America overnight. We don't need to. Nobody is saying that. Gasoline is very expensive right now. Why? Because Demand is greater than Supply. So... if all increased electrical production shifts to wind and sun, and then wind and sun generate an additional 10 to 15% on top of that, petroleum and coal demand falls. And with lower demand comes lower prices. Get it? Same thing with the cars: If another 15% of the cars on the road are electric, gas prices drop, because demand drops. And carbon emissions drop as well. So if lots of OTHER PEOPLE drive electric cars, your gas prices will fall. But, in any event, there is no practical pathway to stopping all petroleum consumption... there will be jet engines, and legacy engines, and need for lubricants, and military jets, etc., but who is telling you that we stop all petroleum use? Who is telling you that any of these green technology shifts will make your life any worse? Here are two things I know: Wind and solar can make for cheap, abundant electrical power. And that means a better lifestyle for all of us. Second, electric cars can be FASTER than gas-powered cars. Like... much faster. And far more reliable.

What on Earth are you talking about? In thirty years, we've developed the technology to make wind the cheapest, cleanest, and most effective way to increase electricity production. We can easily double or quadruple our wind generation. And next time Saudi Arabia or Iran or Russia wants to stop shipping oil, they can go screw themselves.

Speaking of fools... do you have any clue whatsoever of how many gigawatts Nine Percent is? America generated over Four Trillion kWh of electricity last year. That means windmills generated Forty Billion kWh of electricity last year in the US alone.

Now, you ought to be able to figure out that we aren't going to tear down all of our electrical plants overnight. The Nine Percent becomes Twenty Percent and then Fifty Percent. This isn't Harry Potter; these things take time.

For one thing, a solar panel is not a mirror. But.. yes, if wind already powers half of Denmark and half of Iowa, it can power virtually any nation. I mean, it's wind. The great thing about wind is that one windmill does not consume another windmill's energy.

If someone is prideful or boastful, we don't judge. That is the Lord's job.

Half of the electricity generated in all of Iowa comes from wind. Nine percent of all total electricity generated in the United States comes from wind.
