Really? So the claim is that skin color can change in just a few generations? If so, why is it that African Americans are still dark-skinned? They have mostly been on this continent since the 1600’s and 1700’s. That’s many generations, and besides intermarriage, there is no evidence whatsoever that the color of their skin is lightening due to the environment. In fact, this is rejected by the theory of evolution. Evolution posits that SURVIVAL characteristics determine which genes pass on, not environmental characteristics. Your source is decidedly wrong, and the skin color of African Americans prove that, after a few generations, or even 20, skin color does not change.

Nazis systematically rounded up over six million people and gassed them to death. We use the word Nazi to mean almost anything, but almost never do we mean the systematic extinction of an entire group of people. What happened to black people in America did not end in 1865. It certainly continued into the 1960’s and many believe we still have vestiges of it today. We had a black President and three back Supreme Court justices, and while that is progress, it does not mean that racism is over. I don’t like the fact that Massachusetts and Oregon elected the first openly-lesbian governors, because I believe we should be past the labels. One of them was interviewed on TV, and was asked, “When did you first realize you were attracted to women?” Have you EVER seen an interviewer asked a straight male candidate when he was first attracted to women? I don’t vote for people because of their race, gender or sexual identity, and I think that if all the minority groups in America coalesced around the single goal of true equality for all, the Democrats would never lose another election. But that may never happen, because each group has unique needs, and separate leaders arise who articulate those needs. Not surprisingly, we tend to filter out all the rational things they say and make a huge deal whenever someone says something stupid.

De Santis vs Trump 2024

If Trump runs for President again, he will lose again, and Congress will fall along with him. -
Convicted abusers are rarely awarded custody, although that too happens sometimes. But imaging being stuck in a marriage with a violent abuser because getting divorce cleans you’ll be forced to hand over 30% of your gross pay to your abuser. There are states where judges can’t consider domestic violence as a factor in an alimony award.

Laws vary by state, and I don't know the law of all fifty states. But if the perpetrator is the breadwinner, then the victim and the kids face substantial economic impact of a jailed spouse and even an un-jailed spouse. If the survivor is the breadwinner, then he or she faces the prospect of paying support to the perpetrator, possibly for life. Very few states exempt a domestic violence victim from paying alimony. In both instances, the situation creates a substantial economic barrier to divorce.

I wasn’t going to solve the classroom situation by calling politicians and asking for changes to divorce laws, was I? See, I’m a lot more conservative than you think. I had a situation to deal with, and I dealt with it. I solved the problem. I got sh1t done. That’s what matters. As for this kid… he had a mother who was struggling, and she went way, way out of her way to get her kid into the “nice” elementary school. I don’t know how she pulled it off, but she did, and then she drove extra far every day to get her kid there. So there’s something positive going on there. Imperfect, but positive.

You did change the headline, a-hole. STOP LYING. The title of the thread is not the same as the title of the Fox News article you linked. If you cannot admit that simple fact, then you are a delusional person. Besides, you obviously didn’t even read the article, because you think the person who made the comment is a man. If you read the first two sentences of the article, you’d know she’s a woman.

How can you fix the cause? We were in our particular situation. We couldn’t fix the world or even his own family. It seemed to me that the boy was heading towards social ostracism, and the result would be his continually-growing anger… and that would mean higher risk for my kid. By bringing him into the community and inviting him, he could experience acceptance and happiness. And it worked out. The behaviors subsided and he graduated and got along. There are situations where children have extreme behavioral disorders, and different remediations are required. I am extremely familiar with that.

YOU ARE A LIAR. You did not quote Fox’ headline, you created your own. And even Fox’ headline was misleading, because she made the statement before she was a DoE official, so they should not have used the present tense. You call yourself “Reason” but you create bald-faced lies and then you lie about them. That’s called gaslighting. “I didn’t change the headline.” Yeah; you did. You’re stupid and you’re a liar. You have no integrity. How can conservatism be a superior point of view when it is based upon a premise of lies? When we dig to the facts, your statements never hold up. Don’t you see that over and over? Your entire philosophy is made up of lies.

When my daughter was in first grade, there was an African American boy who had significant discipline issues, and he was violent. And his mother was substantially poorer than the average parent there. There was a parent school meeting and parents were very upset. After many of them said some very harsh things, I pointed out that this boy would be in school with our kids for the next 11 years, and we’d all be better off if we started including him in birthday party invitations, and play dates, and other outings. Because ostracizing him would only exacerbate the problems. Cooler heads prevailed, and that’s what wound up happening, and his behavior problems went away.

Are American elections rigged?
Rebound replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Do you have any evidence of the allegations which you’re making? I’ve noticed that there are MANY billionaire donors to Republican causes. Theil, Mercer, Koch, and many others. The Democrats appear to have only Soros, and I don’t think he even donates to US Democrat candidates. So where’s the evidence of all your claims? I believe that people vote Republican because they are conned into believing imaginary conspiracy theories. I suppose a “woke” person is someone who realizes that these conspiracy theories and hoaxes aren’t real. -
Pennsylvania is the DUMBEST state in the union

Can you explain to us what critical race theory is, and why a legal theory that’s taught in graduate school is some sort of threat to elementary and secondary school education? -
You’re the one using race language. It certainly matters when she said it. And the context and what she meant by it, versus the meaning that Fox News attributed to it, also matters. We all went to college and did stupid things in our lives. Some, for instance, cheat on their wives, pay porn stars for sex and pay hush money to cover it up. Some threaten their girlfriends with physical violence if they refuse to get an abortion, then campaign as anti-abortion. So in the entire Department of Ed, Fox found one official who may or may not have once said something stupid? Stop the presses! We need an armed revolution! Somebody said something stupid a long time ago! As to her statement, I cannot say if it was stupid or not. Her claim is that black children are disciplined in school in a disproportionate manner. I have no statistics on that. But her main point is that she believes schools can create better systems to treat misbehavior, and her remedy is not race-based at all.
