The Climate Of Florida, boys and girls
Rebound replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What’s simplistic is to refuse to accept the findings of science and then to see climate predictions made two decades ago come true. All-time high temperatures. Massive, unprecedented forest fires. Increased frequency and power of hurricanes. Weather shifts, such as freezing temperatures in Texas. Melting of Arctic and Antarctic ice. It’s all there. All of it. The truth is right in front of your nose and you’re in denial. You’re lying to yourself. You’re an ostrich. -
As if 71 felony counts aren’t enough, Donald Trump himself stated today that he has received a letter from Prosecutor Jack Smith, stating that Trump is a “target for prosecution” for his efforts to illegally remain in power after losing the 2020 Presidential election. As a courtesy, Trump was invited to appear before a Grand Jury; his option. As Trump went on to explain, this letter means it’s almost certain that he will be Federally indicted for even more crimes, committed in Washington, and there will be no Trump-appointed wackadoodle judge overseeing the case this time. The traitor will go to prison.

Legitimately charge criminals for their crimes and try them in court. -
GUNS SAVE LIVES EVERY YEAR
Rebound replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
How many lives are saved because the gun held 100 rounds? How many lives saved because the gun was an AR-15 rifle and not a handgun? -
Are you suggesting that the US government should adopt the social policies of Western European governments?

Yes, we realize that the population of Florida was lower 100 years ago, but the frequency of major hurricanes was also lower. If you look at this thread, it’s the same old pattern with you people: You’re presented with a FACT which you don’t like. First you try to change the fact, which you can’t do, so then you start to make up or distort the facts, or invent ways to ignore the fact. But none of that works, because it’s a FACT: Human activity is warming the atmosphere, one of the consequences has been a massive spike in major hurricanes, and now multi-billion dollar insurers are exiting the market. You guys tried to question whether anybody was in Florida to notice a 300 mile-wide hurricane 100 years ago (answer: Absolutely yes), then suggest that construction costs are higher in Florida than anywhere else, and now you suggest insurers are leaving only because the population is higher. While there’s some truth in what you’re saying, it doesn’t change the fundamental fact that the frequency of major hurricanes in Florida and the Caribbean has increased tremendously, and the reason is the increased release of CO2 into the atmosphere. If we don’t address the problem more effectively, large portions Florida may become submerged or else destroyed by ever-higher storm surges in the coming years. -

EDITED 19 HOURS AGO BY DELUGE You were responding to the fact that Florida had eight hurricanes in 75 years and eight hurricanes in the last 18 years. -
Obviously you did not read those two articles, but I did. They don’t say anything about additional crimes. They only say the Feds were investigating whether Hunter properly paid tax on income he made overseas. It did not say that he failed to pay his taxes or that he underreported his income. So as usual, you’re making up nonsense.

Sure, but no invisible hurricane hit Florida in the past 100 years. Because if it hit Florida, it would have been seen. Settlement of Florida began in the 1500’s. It’s been well populated in the past three hundred years. Over half a million people lived in Florida in 1900. Surely one of them would have seen a frickin hurricane. -

Except that you're still a m0ron. -
Yes, so Trump will go on trial to prove his guilt or innocence. That's how it works. Meantime... let's read the Presidential Records Act, ok? You can actually read it for yourself instead of listening to the lies you're getting from Fox News or whatever. The term "Presidential records" means documentary materials, or any reasonably segregable portion thereof, created or received by the President. (B) does not include any documentary materials that are (i) official records of an agency (as defined in section 552(e) of title 5 USC [because they are the property of that Federal Government Agency] The term "personal records" means all documentary materials, or any reasonably segregable portion thereof, of a purely private or nonpublic character which do not relate to or have an effect upon the carrying out of the constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President. § 2202. Ownership of Presidential records The United States shall reserve and retain complete ownership, possession, and control of Presidential records. (g)(1) Upon the conclusion of a President’s term of office, or if a President serves consecutive terms upon the conclusion of the last term, the Archivist of the United States shall assume responsibility for the custody, control, and preservation of, and access to, the Presidential records of that President.

No, Al Capone was not convicted for filing his taxes one year late. Are you truly that uninformed? I remember one rally after another where he lead enormous crowds chanting “Lock her up!” I also remember former Governor and Federal Prosecutor Chris Christie leading that cheat at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Are you seriously suggesting that a Federal Prosecutor did not know about the imaginary “rule” that you just made up? Are you seriously suggesting that we forget the Whitewater investigations, the Benghazi investigations and the Hillary email investigations? The Watergate investigations? The Federal prosecution of presidential candidate John Edwards? The current efforts to investigate President Biden? So… YEAH, you are completely full of BS. Nothing you’re saying is remotely true. What is most true of all is there is no “rule” that politicians are immune from criminal prosecution. That would make them above the law. This simply is not true.

There is no argument here. A second grader posts a meme that says, basically, “Liberals are bad.” And, we ask over and over, “Why?” And your collective m0ronic answers are: “Because we say so.” And now you’re claiming victory? -

No, you’re just blowing smoke out of your ass. First you said that no-one has kept track of major hurricanes which hit Florida 100-125 years ago, and instead of conceding that isn’t so, you jumped to something else. This is Science versus Make-Believe Nonsense. NASA believes there is overwhelming evidence already of man made climate change due to CO2, and so does Every Single Relevant Major Scientific Organization On Earth. Thousands to top scientists from NASA to Harvard to MIT and on and on… and you have an “opinion.” Backed up by memes and your instinct. Can’t you understand that if your “instinct” is wrong and all those scientists are right… how f-cked we are? Just MAYYYBE… they could be right, and what that means? -

I don’t need to be specific. The guy presented a list, claimed they are all things which “the liberals” supported three years ago. So I asked what is wrong with those things. -

The dumbest? Like… NASA? Yeah, some yahoo who can’t even get a full-time job as a second grade teacher thinks he’s smarter than all the scientists at NASA. Riiiight…
