It's a big enough story and it's on social media enough. And teenagers talk. This isn't a matter of right and wrong (notwithstanding those terms are open for debate in numerous ways, although apparently not this one). This is a matter of fundamental science and narcissistic bullshit. You cannot say it's 'wrong' to politely state your opinion in a discussion that involves the very topic you give your opinion on. How do you hold a discussion on a topic if no one is allowed to disagree upon pain of expulsion? "Okay, kids. We're going to have a discussion about transgender issues. By the way, if anyone disagrees they're going to be expelled. So, let's talk about it, shall we!" Come on. You've made many, many posts on transgenderism and you're definitely what they might call an ally, if not a fanatic one. Do you not realize how ironic you're writing this is in light of what you just said or was it meant to be ironic? I don't care what your books say. I'm paying for this shit with my Canadian taxes so I think I have a perfect right to be unhappy at supporting anti-Canadians. We're discussing the details HERE. If we tried to do it in a school right up through university, or at most workplaces, or on most websites I'd be expelled/fired/banned for daring to express a view contrary to that of the progressive regulatory environment IN SPITE of the fact only a small minority of people actually supports such a regulatory environment. It's very much like life in a brutal dictatorship where everyone has to stand and chant and wave their fists and enthusiastically agree with whatever the stupid ideology/religion is or else be punished. You are incorrect. He was suspended for disagreeing. Then he was served with an order to stay away from school because of 'safety'. No, he was arrested for trespassing AFTER being suspended and told to stay away.

There was a whole class of kids there. They're not bound by legal fears and someone would have talked, even if anonymously. Do you honestly think it's any different in Canada? I always find it interesting how little tolerance these policies designed for 'tolerance' are. In fact, the people who seem to be most in favour of tolerance towards beliefs they hold seem to be the least tolerant of anyone expressing beliefs they don't hold. Another way the Left is like Islamists. Because you hold the same views. The welfare artist expressing her contempt and disdain for Canada, Canadians, our culture, heritage, and values has much the same mindset as the Leftists who infest schoolboards expressing their similar disdain and contempt for Canada, its traditions, heritage, and values. I, on the other hand, am a taxpayer who funds both and doesn't like funding people who despise everything I believe in and would spit in my face if they thought they could do it without instant retribution. I realize you're reasonably content with all of that. Everything I've seen you write suggests you're a globalist type who'd be just as happy living in Thailand or Tokyo, New Dehli or New York. Someone who has no real attachment to Canada, in other words.

I always found it odd how the language and attitudes of the extreme Left so often mirror the language of the Trumptards and the far Right. Both express an absolute confidence that their vision is perfect, and anyone who disagrees is absolute garbage. They even feel a sense of glee at their anger. And neither side accepts the slightest disagreement with their vision, nor even tries to defend their vision except with broad talking points usually gleaned from the internet and various slurs and insults. No one is suggesting this kid shouted. No one has said he cursed or threatened. He even said he never misgendered or deadnamed anyone. The discussion was ON the subject to which he contributed. There is thus no comparison to someone shouting racial insults in a diner or anywhere else. He disagreed with the established story and was punished for refusing to bow his head and meekly accept the narrative. Despite the fact three quarters or more of the country agree with him.

I have seen no contradictions to what is laid out in various articles. Of course not. If he was derisive, insulting, obscene, etc., that would justify suspension. But given the discussion is on gender and bathrooms I would think even in a non-religious school setting, even on the subject of biology he would have a right to politely express his belief (which is likely shared by the vast majority of Canadians) that there are only two genders. I have seen no polls here, but the one I found from the US last year says 75% believe there are only two genders. So how does a school justify an opinion shared by three out of four people getting you banned from campus as a safety threat? How do school boards justify shutting down meetings and calling police whenever a parent dares to question their fanaticism on this subject? And btw, anyone who says that merely speaking about something causes an 'unsafe environment' should lose their right to vote, never mind run for office of any kind. Because clearly, their emotional fragility puts them below the minimum needed to be considered an adult.

While what you say is true, the chain of causation still follows that he wound up being arrested for this view. He was suspended for taking part in a class discussion on the issue of male/female bathrooms. He was booted out of class, out of school, and then later served an 'exclusiion' order to not come back because trans students felt unsafe due to his opinions. All of which is pretty outrageous, in my view. Should he have tried to go back anyway? No. But when he showed up he was arrested and taken away. “It was about male students using female washrooms, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding. Everyone was sharing their opinions on it, any student who wanted to was participating, including the teacher,” Alexander said. “I said there were only two genders, and you were born either a male or a female, and that got me into trouble. And then I said that gender doesn’t trump biology.” https://canoe.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-catholic-high-school-student-suspended-then-arrested-for-saying-there-are-only-two-genders/wcm/b4a7230b-bfaf-4b1d-a29f-f340fb3eb00f

United Church Affirms Support for Trans Youth
I am Groot replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Religion & Politics
About 5% of them are transgendered because they suffer from gender dysmorphia. The other 95% suffer from a variety of emotional and psychological illnesses or are kids following a fad and looking for attention, an excuse, or to get sympathy and praise. -

I agree. But the mere fact there is no discussion permitted on this topic is what is building up such anger. A kid was basically tossed out of school a couple of weeks ago for daring to express his opinion that there were only two genders. He was then banned from campus because the school said trans students didn't feel 'safe' due to his opinion. Police were called to school board meetings twice in the last week in Ottawa because parents dared to ask questions about this topic. The mere act of daring to question, never mind disagree, has been deemed by the fanatics, otherwise known as the school boards, to create an 'unsafe' environment. You can be banned from many social media sites for disagreeing with the narrative. In some countries you can be arrested for suggesting only females are women. Where is that pluralistic tolerance you speak of? -

It's not like the United Church believes in God anymore. Or the bible. Or... anything. I don't think it's ever not going to be controversial to tell six-year-old girls they might just be boys, or vice versa, or encourage ten or twelve year-olds to change genders while keeping it secret from parents. I'm with this chick on the subject. I suspect the proliferation of this sort of nonsense is likely to put Trump or a Trump substitute in the White House in a couple of years. -
There are no neutral, unbiased media in Canada that I'm aware of. And I don't think you get a better picture by ignoring everything the 'biased' media put out. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, realize they probably won't outright lie about anything, though they'll only mention the facts that support their narrative, and browse them all to get something like a true idea. Yes, the postmedia papers all have to carry the publishers recommendation at election time. But in their day to day coverage they are not nearly as uniform as American conservative media, or even the outfits like the Star. I routinely find stories and opinions in them which are what right-wingers would call 'woke' Here's one from a few days ago. Basically saying we should welcome all the migrants at roxham road and more besides. https://ottawacitizen.com/opinion/penny-canadas-refugee-issues-can-be-managed-with-sufficient-political-will

It's even worse than this because when comparing us to most other nations we're ignoring much of the high cost of the public healthcare system. That cost is at the provincial level and provincial debt is not included in the calculation and comparison to other nations. Yet most other nations' healthcare expenditures are at the national level and are included in their numbers. On total government debt Canada is at 134% of GDP. That's not quite as bad as the US, but they have a lot of financial options, levers and abilities we lack. The UK is at 120% and they don't seem to be doing well. Australia is at 84%. Germany is at 77%. And those wonderfully efficient Swiss are at 41%. Of course, the Italians and Greeks are worse than us, as are the Japanese. But all the well-run Nordic countries are much lower than we are. And yet the Liberals brag about our low debt to GDP level. We're the 34th best out of 41 developed nations! Woo hoo!

Letting an MP your security services believe is a Chinese agent remain in caucus is bad practice, too. As for proof. Well, everyone knows who has the evidence. His name is Trudeau. And he refuses to answer any questions or divulge any of the information given him or his party apparatchiks. He says some of the information is wrong but won't say what it is. His party apparatchiks are doing everything they can to prevent House committees from questioning his chief of staff about what she was briefed on because if she lies to them and CSIS or other agencies have it documented she's in real trouble. I'm willing to accept that what CSIS says is not proven in a court. But the way Trudeau is acting strongly suggests CSIS has more than enough evidence. Simply because if there really wasn't enough to prove anything he'd be able to say that and use it as an excuse for doing nothing. He hasn't. Instead, he keeps squirming and twisting and dissembling and refusing to answer, none of which is impressing the public. His own actions condemn him, his chief of staff, and his MP.

China's interference in Canadian elections
I am Groot replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Do you honestly think a guy like Dong would obey such a directive? And how can you require cameras with MPs who are constantly meeting with constituents on private matters like immigration or passport issues, not to mention meeting tons of people at various cultural festivals and religious get-togethers? The problems of Canada's fisheries lie in the fact the central government mostly doesn't give a shit about fisheries because all the votes are in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. I would agree that the provinces should look after fishing but no government ever gives up power over anything. -
China's interference in Canadian elections
I am Groot replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Global News Sam Cooper broke the news the other day that Vincent Ke was the Ontario MLA through which the Chinese consulate in Toronto funded the eleven federal candidates in the ridings they wanted to control. The money went from the consulate to a Chinese-Canadian businessman, was then sent to Ke who disbursed it to the ridings, while keeping some for himself. Unlike the case with Han Dong, the Liberal MP named by CSIS, Ke was quickly forced out of the Ontario PC caucus. Which begs the question: Why is Dong still a proud member of the Liberal caucus? https://globalnews.ca/news/9430612/chinese-government-canada-election-interference/ -
Hell, the local school board called the cops on some parent who tried to talk about transgender issues at a public meeting. They adjourned until the person was removed saying they didn't feel safe. Gah! Seriously, these are the kind of people pushing these kinds of dumbass ideas. Fanatics. Straight men have no interest in sex with people who have dicks. Nor do gay women. If you believe otherwise you might reexamine your sexual preferences. In addition, anatomy is only one of the differences. The very violence, the threats, including threats of rape, the physical intimidation and violence that we see coming from so many transgender activists demonstrates their aggressive male mindsets. A lot of them simply do not think like women. In my opinion, a substantial number of them are not only not really suffering from gender dysmorphia but are legitimately suffering from various mental illnesses.
