  1. No, he's being prosecuted because he's a crook. There was a reason Trump didn't have Hillary Clinton prosecuted for whatever the hell it was the Republicans were shrieking about for several years. It's because there was no evidence of a crime. If there had been they'd have prosecuted. Bill Barr said Trump could never quite understand the Justice Department wasn't his own personal legal department like in the Trump organization, where he used to launch SLAP suits at everyone and anyone who challenged him. He wanted to charge people in the same manner. Traditionally, when a President loses and election he goes away. He doesn't scream about it for four years, refusing to pay any attention to the evidence, producing ZERO evidence of his own, slandering people left and right. Nor does he demand his people go down to Congress and there fight like hell to protect democracy. Nor does he tell them to hang his loyal vice president. No. I just think that decades of right wing media and the towering arrogance and sneers of the Left who have run most public institutions for the last thirty years have produced a populace that simply doesn't care how bad a man he is as long as he'll attack those they hate. And they hate the Democrats and the Liberals and all the others who regarded them as 'fly over states', ie, not worth bothering about, and who look down on anyone who works with their hands and doesn't understand intersectionality. There's a sizeable portion of his supporters who WANT him to take over, become a dictator, close down liberal news media, and throw them and Democrats and all those effete academics into prison. See Oftenwrong for an example.
  2. Thousands of pro Palestinian/Hamas protesters gathered in New York to protest against... a cancer treatment center that they say is 'complicit in genocide'... Let that sink in for a minute. Why would so many people target a cancer treatment center? Because a Jewish billionaire donated $400m to them. And this Jewish billionaire had earlier denounced the antisemitic statements from some Harvard student associations and vowed not to hire anyone from them. Therefore, the cancer treatment center is 'complicit in genocide'. That's as nutty as our local anti-semites on this site and their illogical and laughably inept denunciations of Israel and 'zionism', which they piously insist has nothing to do with Jews. Now, regardless of what you think of the Palestinian/Israeli issue this probably strikes you as batshit crazy. So how do you get thousands of people to protest there unless someone is paying them? https://nationalpost.com/news/pro-palestinian-protesters-new-york-cancer-centres?utm_source=ground.news&utm_medium=referral
  3. Trump has been a crook, a liar and a cheat all his life. His employees, his customers, his lawyers, and everyone he ever worked with says the same. He just floated under the radar until he became President. The investigations of his conduct both before and during him being president were inevitable once he became so notorious.
  4. And when was the last time Quebecers voted for a candidate not from Quebec when it had Quebec candidates available?
  5. Maybe direct this nonsense toward the people who make such references.
  6. I said at least six years ago that if the Democrats wanted to crush Trump all they had to do was find a strong-seeming ex-military candidate with moderate views. An ex-general or admiral. Preferably white. Trump would have lost so badly last time around he wouldn't even bother complaining and wouldn't have come back this time around. Just about any such candidate would kick Trump's ass. The problem is the Democrats have Biden, and just about any Republican candidate not named Trump would kick HIS ass. In terms of federal policy, the only thing really hurting Biden is his inability to control their borders. But Trump couldn't control them either. It's an ongoing issue and the numbers are driven by the conditions down south and the information being passed around about American tolerance at the border. The US ratified the same treaties Canada did about those claiming asylum, though, so unless they're willing to change those laws, and neither party has voiced any interest in doing so, they have to let them in and give them hearings. It would be a real shame for the US and its allies, not to mention democracy, if a raging incompetent dementia case like Trump gets elected - again. But there's a good chance that will happen, mostly due to the hatred so many have for these identity politics policies. As for Canadians who like Trump, I can only assume they do so out of hatred for those same policies and utter ignorance about the man and his behaviour while in office.
  7. I don't think anyone believes they're going to try to march into Toronto, or even Yellowknife. But our economic interests and sovereignty are worth protecting. Not to mention that if we have the ability to fight for them Russia is much, much less likely to just walk in and b1tch-slap us and take them.
  8. Martin Luther King's views are no longer respected by Democrats and never were by Republicans.

People who are connected to truth, regardless of their political affiliations, respect his legacy.  I heard part of his famous speech this morning and I was moved to tears.  He was a prophet, and the deep state could not allow the truth to be told, so they killed him.  Same with JFK, Malcolm and others who were persecuted, railroaded and otherwise shut down by the FBI or CIA.

The bill for this evil is coming due this year.

  9. They don't have to travel thousands of km to decide their claim to the Arctic supersedes ours and simply take it much like China has done in waters near them. And what are we going to do about it? Not one damn thing other than protest. Because we can't even get to those areas in the winter anyway. They can walk in, plant a flag and start drilling for oil and there's not thing one we can do.
  10. SaskPower is providing 153 MW of electricity to AB this evening to assist them through this shortage. That power will be coming from natural gas and coal-fired plants, the ones the Trudeau government is telling us to shut down (which we won’t).

Privatization is why Alberta’s grid is failing.  This never used to be a problem and they had much longer cold snaps than this in the past.  I guess you could blame Trudeau and Notley.  That will save you from facing the real issue.

    3. Army Guy

According to the experts Alberta's energy demand has increased rapidly to the point this recent cold snap almost made it fail...adding electrical cars to this equation is only increase that demand , instead of investing in lithium bats we should be improving our grids to handle the increase load...So yes it is Justins fault his climate change plan sucks, and so does his lack of vision to meet all the problems we will have in the near future.

Under Notley, all of Alberta's coal fired power plants were retired, up to 30 years ahead of schedule.  Their capacity was partly replaced with green power.  Wind and solar.  During the cold snap, the wind died and there went a large percentage of Alberta's electricity supply, putting people at risk of death.

I drive through southern BC to Alberta, and there were over 200 of these stupid wind turbines as of about 3 years ago.  They are not a dependable source of power.  When the wind dies so does the electricity.  How stupid can you get?

  11. The last poll I saw said almost 40% of Quebecers, which means pretty close to a majority of Francophones, still support separatism. Their only reason is language.
  12. Sometimes vengeance can be justice. Can't say the same for 'social justice'.
  13. Maybe because those who have a fundamental belief in justice realize that 'social justice' does not fall into the same category. None that are credible. And remember that green energy is not just what we're doing. We're punishing intensive users of energy and domestic industries, encouraging them to go offshore. We're making energy deliberately more expensive when energy is the lifeblood of industry and the economy. And we're transferring billions of dollars abroad to third world countries allegedly to help with their climate warming fight, though how much of it winds up in Swiss bank accounts is anyone's guess. And remember, when it comes to green energy, it can abandon you just when it's needed most
  14. While I accept that money and pressure, along with an ideology that has become somewhat fanatic in places has twisted the science I believe the overwhelming consensus as well as the evidence of a warming world. I don't know that I ever really doubted them so much as doubted the degree of harm that would befall us. And as one noted dissenter pointed out the media always seized on the worst possible outcome of several outcomes the scientists offered up in order to scare people and generate interest. But it's become more and more obvious that the solution proposed would only work if every country in the world joined in and it's become equally obvious that's just not going to happen. In part, that's because those who designed the various treaties on carbon reduction seemed to be operating from a social justice and equity perspective more than that of flat out equality. Thus the wealthy west was expected to make massive cutbacks and also transfer hundreds of billions to the rest, while the rest built coal plants.
  15. Well, if the alternative was nuclear war... yeah.
  16. We sort of have for the last forty years. But we like to keep up the pretense of sovereignty.
  17. Nuclear weapons are not cheap. And they're kind of useless unless they think you're insane enough to use them - despite the overwhelming response you'd get - just to protect say, an arctic island or two or three, or maybe oil fields off the east coast. Or Atlantic Canada. You still need a military, in other words.
  18. I know it's almost reflex for those on the Left to dismiss anything coming from the Sun. But a little googling of the names involved, particularly the wealthy Americans mentioned, produces a report from the New York Times revealing the many ties to China of these two Marxists, and how they've been working as China's mouthpieces and funneling money into various non-profits in pursuit of China's aims in the United states. There's a similar report about what they've been doing in India.
  19. Not altogether a surprise now that more and more people feel free to speak out on immigration without fear of being canceled. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to dramatically increase immigration — and allow a flood of temporary workers and international students — without providing proper support has created a laundry list of economic problems, including higher inflation and weak productivity, chief economists at Canada’s biggest banks said Thursday during a wide-ranging panel discussion in Toronto. How do you rebut these people by simply screaming racism, xenophobia, and anti-immigrant? You can't. And the worst is we know they knew this was going to happen. They knew two years ago that it was going to cause huge housing issues and they pushed ahead with ever increasing immigration anyway. They were warned as far back as 2017 in another immigration department report that even the much lower but sustained numbers in 2017 were already causing economic problems for immigrants, housing issues, and expanding ethnic enclaves while reducing integration. And they ignored that too. Immigration was only 300k then, but they kept jacking it up as fast as they could. Trudeau botched immigration surge, Canada’s top bank economists say | National Post
  20. I understand why you might think a politician is lying but I'm not sure what gives you the idea I would bother to disguise my beliefs here given some of the other things I've said on all kinds of topics. It's not like I'm shy about saying something politically incorrect here. I've never denied that global warming is happening, nor that a significant element of that is carbon emissions. I've argued that what we're doing is not going to significantly reduce carbon emissions, or probably reduce them at all on a world scale and that only technological development and innovation is going to accomplish that. And because of that I'm opposed to punishing our economy and costing people untold economic distress just so Justin can stand on his self-made pedestal and pose for his admirers/

  22. We get rid of the Liberals and all their ludicrous regulations hamstringing our industries. Then we drastically cut immigration and figure out how to persuade employers to increase training and technology probably through either punitive taxes or tax relief. Spare me your sanctimonious "I was right you were wrong" crap. You've been wrong from the start. And the only thing most of us denied was the wisdom of putting trillions of dollars into an obviously failed idea that would accomplish nothing. Making our energy more expensive while two thirds of the world goes on a coal plant building spree was always an insane idea that was only going to drive production offshore. And has. You don't like the way things worked out with world warming? Complain to Dehili and Beijing, not Ottawa or Edmonton. I didn't miss your fantasy fiction. I just ignored it. Adaptation is not going to be more expensive in Canada and unlike anything else we've tried has the benefit of likely working. Spending more than a trillion dollars on a scheme that failed before it started is not my idea of a workable solution.
  23. Apparently the military has gone all-in for diversity and equity in a desperate hope of pleasing Trudeau and his minions. Maybe they hope they'll get more money this way? But the nonsense written in their official military journal is enough to make even liberals groan. Instead — in a signal of just how far the Canadian Armed Forces has embraced far-left “anti-racist” ideology — the entire issue is devoted to how the Canadian military is a racist, patriarchal den of colonialist oppression that needs to be torn down and remade from scratch. “With this special issue we provide readers with insights and recommendations for meaningful military culture change,” reads an introduction. The issue lacks the journal sections typically devoted to strategy or military history. Instead, it’s a series of 13 essays all devoted to what an introduction describes as a “feminist intersectional trauma-informed approach to reimagine and transform CAF culture.” https://nationalpost.com/opinion/first-reading-the-canadian-militarys-all-in-embrace-of-far-left-anti-oppression-dogma
  24. I'm not sure who he's referring to when he says that. I very much doubt the government has learned a thing. I believe they're just ignoring this until after the election and then will cancel it.
  25. Why on earth would we want to import poor people? Especially the uneducated ones who don't speak English?
