America's Federal Police Farce - The FBI
I am Groot replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
As a Law and order Conservative, I've always been a strong supporter of law enforcement agencies - as has the Republican Party over the entire history of my life until Trump became president and it continued to try to enforce the law, even against him and other Republicans, who he felt should be immune. The FBI is a notoriously conservative agency known for the similarity of the dress style, hair style and attitude of its agents even today, after they've been forced, kicking and screaming, into letting in minorities and women. It has long been a known fact that the great majority of its agents and employees are Republicans. The current head of the FBI, Chris Wray, is a registered Republican appointed by Donald Trump to replace the previous FBI head who was also a registered Republican. Donald Trump's victory in 2016 was in part ascribed to Comey's decision just before the election to reopen the Clinton case because of new emails found on an employee's computer. This precipitated a fresh wave of "Clinton scandal" stories, which, in a razor tight campaign, could easily have cost her the election. -
The degree of exception I take to a statement depends on my perception of the statement, or what lies behind it. Like all Nationalists, I take particular exception to statements that I see as going against my country, or the cultural identity and values represented by it. Antisemitism goes against that cultural identity and values, and is thus not to be tolerated.

The statistics, as quoted by the Globe and Mail editorial, say otherwise. -

So you have no comment on the rise of antisemitism in Canada? -
Canada's dangerous slide into antisemitism
I am Groot replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, bigots come in all political shades and stripes. But the small number of far right people in Canada who hate Jews has been a minor thing for a long time. What has risen in the last few decades and particularly of late are two things. 1. The number of Muslims coming here from countries where antisemitism is the accepted and widespread cultural norm. Coming here with no screening, I might add, and no suggestion by the Canadian elites that they should change their culture and adopt Canadian values. 2. The rise of a simplistic 'oppressor/victim' belief system among the Left which automatically ascribes malice and evil to whomever is termed the oppressor, and complete innocence and lack of agency to the victim. Jews have been assigned to the 'white' category, and are thus part of the 'oppressors' despite a history of being the victims of hate. This is largely because they do well economically here. And as the Jewish community has a lot of support for Israel, which the Left has demonized as an evil Capitalist colony supported by the evil West, and as it's fighting 'brown people' then anyone who supports Israel is evil too by default. Therefore, Jews are evil. Hatred against them is therefore entirely proper and the concern for incidents against them is about what it is for the scores of churches set on fire. There is a general view from many elements of the Left that they deserve it anyway. -
Canada's dangerous slide into antisemitism

Once again, I and the editorial are speaking about Canadian Jews. People who live here. -
Comparing immigration today to immigration a century ago is a fool's errand. A large percentage of those coming to Canada in that time period were actually British citizens anyway. And Canada was a British dominion whose people used the British passport when going abroad. Others were from elsewhere in Europe, and required to support themselves or die. Education levels were roughly similar to Canada, and there were many, many jobs to be found without having a full (or any) grasp of English. There were no social programs so unless they became criminals they were no burden on the state and fellow citizens. Things are quite a bit different today.

What was racist about his post? What was even anti-immigrant about it? Are you incapable of understanding the difference between being against mass immigration and being 'anti-immigrant'? And for a guy whose response to a topic on antisemitism is jeering laughter, you have a lot of balls calling someone else a bigot.

Who said anything about Israel and hostages? My entire post was about the treatment of Jews in Canada and you reply with the standard far-left rant about Israel. Thus taking the same position that most of the protesters take, that Jews and Israelis are the same thing, and that all Israelis are responsible for their government and thus equally guilty of condemnation (and attack). Congratulations on having the same philosophy as Hamas. -
Canada is not giving billions to Israel. As far as I know we're not giving them a damn thing. Though we are giving tens of millions to Hamas for some reason.

The Jews have always been a kind of canary in the coal mine as far as freedom is concerned. If they're not free to live and go about their business and act in a lawful manner then the rest of us need to start looking over our shoulders. And they're not. Canada has freely imported millions of people from places where the general cultural and religious sentiment is hatred of Jews without doing the slightest to screen them. And we're just starting now to see them flex their muscles, and with a government which is notorious for always catering to votes not principles. There are now six times more Muslims than Jews in Canada, and that number is rapidly growing. And so their flexing is being allowed, accepted, and tolerated by generally liberal governments (including locally) who have long suffered from the bigotry of low expectations. Meanwhile, immigration continues, grows, with no screening to weed out extremists of any variety. Millions are coming, and already the government is catering to them, and trying to bring in laws to restrict freedom. It does not care about churches being burned or synagogues shot at but by God if you dare to criticize Islam online they will do their best to punish you. Antisemitic acts have been occurring in Canada in ever-increasing volume since the Oct. 7 massacre of 1,200 Israelis by Hamas terrorists, and the kidnapping of 250 more. In the weeks that followed Israel’s military response to those crimes, a Jewish school in Montreal was twice fired upon, leaving two bullet holes. A Jewish delicatessen in Toronto was fire-bombed. An Indigo bookstore in Toronto was vandalized, because the chain’s founder is Jewish. Protesters in Toronto, Montreal and elsewhere opposed to the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza have targetted Jewish neighbourhoods, synagogues and businesses. Homes have been vandalized with antisemitic images and words. https://archive.is/CNrIh

Would you say it's unfair, foolish and discriminatory to be one-sided when discussing Adolph Hitler? Vladamir Putin? How about pedophiles? Should pedophiles be allowed to have their kiddie porn? Are you one-sided on the subject of whether ten year olds should be given the vote and allowed to drive cars? What about slavery? Are you one-sided or are you seriously willing to consider the benefits of slavery? Sometimes, in other words, being one-sided is just the thing moral, intelligent thing to do. Should we reward the rape, torture and murder of women and children? Nothing Israel is doing hasn't been done in every war man has waged. You're just getting it shoved in your face on a daily basis by a hysterical progressive media, and a lot of online left wing news site plus a bunch of left wing activist groups likely financed by China or Russia or both. By the way, the claim of all those women and children dying has been disproven purely on a statistical basis. I you believe the claims you have to believe the Israeli bombs and bullets are somehow veering around all the male civilians just to kill the women and children.

The only medium for obtaining such information, such opinions, such judgments from those we presume to know better than us is the media, both mainstream and online. And much of it is suspect due to ideological preferences. But it's all we have. It has been a defense in law, though. I might be banned from some group by an obnoxious woke moderator but I can't be brought before some government body for saying something true. But under this law, I can be. Which means it will be a huge deterrent to anyone having that dialogue you want on key social issues unless they approach that dialogue from the far left.

The courts don't see an issue. As far as they're concerned everything is wonderful, and most of the people brought before them are merely the sad victims of a neglectful, oppressive, systemically racist, and colonialist government and only need a gentle pat on the shoulder and a stern finger wag to go out and become productive citizens. Even if they already have 160 previous convictions and just killed a woman in a home invasion you get the judge's sympathy, not anger.

It can be made to sound reasonable. Except in this day and age the term 'hate' is used for almost any opposition to the far-left identity agenda. You can be termed guilty of hate for almost anything these days. I was permanently bounced from a group elsewhere for 'hate' because I dared to point out in a discussion of the highest crime areas in Canada that the areas with the highest crime rates were those near native reserves. Which is an absolute fact. But under this legislation, truth is not a defense. I could be charged just for saying that online.

Sure. I don't disagree. The problem is that the people of Palestine have been indoctrinated with hatred, absolute raging hatred towards Jews and Israel since birth. That's particularly so in Gaza under Hamas. And not a lot better in the surrounding Arab states (as per PEW polls and surveys). To the point an awful lot of them, maybe even the majority are quite open to the idea of slaughters like Oct 7. Meanwhile, people who've grown up in Israel have lived with the knowledge since birth that all around them is this great, seething mass of Arabs who hate them and want them dead at almost any cost. All of them waiting just beyond the wire, just beyond the walls, just beyond the barbed wire and mines. And if any had any doubt about that Oct 7 crushed that. Oct 7 was their background fears come to blinding, crystal-clear light. A significant number of them hated the Arabs right back even before Oct 7, and they will never EVER trust them to hold to a ceasefire or a treaty or an agreement. And how do you think you convince them to let the Palestinians have a state? Especially given Iran's influence and the likelihood of an Islamist state taking shape the moment they pull out? Would you, if you lived there?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali's take on the Western liberals and their tolerance for Palestinian brutality vs their horror at Israel's retaliation seems rooted in the reality I see from discussions like this. Immediately, for instance, it was forgotten that the greatest display of deviancy in this conflict came from Hamas. More than anything, October 7 illustrated in a single day how swift the descent from civilisation to barbarism can be. On that day, the heinous acts themselves were manifested in the massacre of innocent, unarmed and totally unprepared civilians. These were young people at a music festival, many of them peaceniks. Family members were shot, stabbed and mutilated in front of one another. Women were raped, homes were burned, and the perpetrators revelled in their acts. Their GoPro cameras were set to record, for they knew large audiences at home awaited that footage. Celebrations ensued, not only by Palestinians but also by many Arabs, Muslims, and fellow travellers on Western university campuses. Top university administrators displayed a shocking level of moral confusion in response. The three Women of the Ivies could not even take courage before Congress simply to say: “This is not who we are. We condemn this.” The ensuing demonisation of Israel for waging what is historically a standard siege, and the relentless calls for a ceasefire, have followed. And these calls have been so effective that now Israel’s great allies in the UK and the US are twisting Israel’s arm to concede. But even without the appeasement of a complete ceasefire, we know full well that it is only a matter of time before Hamas and her helpers reorganise and repeat the atrocities of October 7. We know it because this has been Hamas’s pattern. Attack, provoke a retaliation, complain of disproportionality. Then acquire the world’s sympathy, and negotiate ceasefire, aid, and the time to plan the next attack. https://unherd.com/2024/03/the-west-has-a-deviancy-problem/

If YOU thought they were human you'd treat them like you do other humans, like other white humans. But you don't. You have the bigotry of low expectations which you think makes you tolerant. By the way, are the Sudanese human? A million of them face starvation. Mass slaughter is taking place, millions forced out of their homes. And nobody cares. Maybe because they're black and the people doing it aren't Jewish.

Do you realize what a sad attempt at a rebuttal that was?

This article relates how China operates through its students there, how it keeps them under its control, how it uses its embassies and consulates, the United Front organization, and Confucious Institutes embedded within colleges to control not only their students, but also professors who study and teach about China, and others whose subjects merely occasionally touch on China. And it's about how universities kowtow to the wishes of the Chinese government and students to silence and punish teachers who offend them because they want their money so badly. The story is in the UK. But if there's anyone here who thinks things are not only just as bad but, given the notable cowardice of our governments and universities, even worse, they're living in dreamland. All of the organizations mentioned, like the Confucious Institutes, the Chinese Scholarship Council, the United Front, and Chinese students associations are all active on Canadian campuses. The problem, however, is more complicated than a bunch of young chauvinists making noise on UK campuses. As the charity I run, UK-China Transparency, has shown, the CCP has institutionalised its presence at British universities. Chinese Students and Scholars Associations (CSSAs) are present on roughly 100 British campuses. Most are formally registered as student societies under the authority of university student unions and typically describe themselves as “branches” of a central UK CSSA based at the Chinese embassy in London. This acts as an overseas office for an organisation controlled by the CCP’s United Front Work Department, which conducts influence operations abroad and was name-checked by MI5 in 2022. Most CSSAs publicly admit — though sometimes only in official documents published in Mandarin — that they are under the “guidance”, “control” or “leadership” of the embassy, which runs training programmes and networking events for CSSA leaders. And if that’s not “surreal” enough, consider the China Scholarship Council’s footprint in Britain. This Chinese government body gives stipends to hundreds of PhD scholars in the UK, selecting them on the basis of their political leanings as well as their academic merit. British universities then pay these scholars’ fees. Like CSSAs, scholarship recipients are formally obliged to accept “guidance and management” from Chinese diplomats in the UK — with penalties imposed on them and their families if they fail to do so or otherwise negatively impact China’s national security. As with Confucius Institutes and CSSAs, all these expectations are spelled out in official documents — in Mandarin. The Chinese students policing Britain's universities - UnHerd

Again, your vast ignorance of the politics involved, which requires Netanyahu's minority government to cater to tiny, often fanatical religious parties, is showing. Under Israel's system when you make a deal with other parties to form a majority the minority parties don't just sit there like lumps. You have to give them places in government. That includes cabinet positions. This is why you often hear members of the 'government' saying stupid things that are not government policy but merely the opinion of religious fanatics. Right back at you, you far left twat. They've moved large numbers of people without the media finding out? Perhaps you have a particular connection to Hamas or one of the other terrorist groups there that gives you better insight?

No doubt you are intimately familiar with that sound.
