This is what you answer to my question of why does it matter that women don't want to be cops or geologists. The inference being "We know what's good for them! They will go to the jobs we direct them to!" The depth of arrogance in that answer is just breathtaking. News flash: We do not 'recruit' people as immigrants.

People who are "old stock" Canadians have written of waiting up to two years without being able to find out anything about their status or when they might be called for training.

Recruitment shortage. Every time this sort of thing gets posted on another discussion forum I visit it draws a flood of complaints from people who tried to join and got nothing but roadblocks tossed at them, or waited 18 months for a callback that never came and gave up.

Not sure what you mean here. Canada doesn't choose its immigrants in that sense. We don't 'go' anywhere. We take what applications we get and process them without regard to what country or region they come from. And the more people come here from one country, the more applications we get from that country. If we were deciding suitability/best fit for Canada we'd get most of our immigrants from Europe. That is where the most economically successful immigrants come from. And they're likely to come with less cultural baggage and integrate faster.

We need better laws about harassment. We need better laws about speaking in support of terrorists or terrorism or genocide. We need to revoke the changes to the Citizenship act that limited our ability to take back the citizenship bestowed on newcomers. And we need better, stronger policing. Right now our municipal forces, all of whom are led by left wing municipal councils, are hands-off when it comes to these incessant and insane protests. I think we need a national force, like a branch of the RCMP that can be moved around to reinforce local police, or supplant them if they're not doing t heir jobs. Such a force should be specially trained for crowd control to maintain public order. I also think the organizers of these demonstrations, who are all Hamas supporters that celebrated Oct 7, should be investigated by CSIS and the RCMP to find out if they're paying demonstrators, and if so where the money is coming from.

Like the effort to get women into police forces and fire departments through special recruiting, lowering standards, and special training given to candidates. Or the efforts being made to get women to take STEM courses? Why does it matter if women don't want to be police or geologists?

I really don't understand this interest of people doing a long, multiple-page back and forth "You said this, no I didn't, you said that and I said the other thing. No, you said this and this and meant that." Why the hell do you even care? Surely you don't enjoy it or think you can win any sort of applause from weary-eyed bystanders?

People use the term 'woke' because everyone pretty much knows what you mean. Nobody is going to use 'extreme social progressives' to describe people who pull down statues or ban books or demand trigger warnings and safe spaces or want to learn criminal law but demand the teachers never use the word 'rape', or insist gender is fluid and a man can become a woman overnight just because he feels like he's a woman. It's not that your term is necessarily inaccurate (not totally as I think the majority of progressives at the very least support such things), but that it's too, I don't know, clinical. It also lacks the contempt with which the right has imbued the word 'work'.

OK My answer was already getting long and as I recall you don't like long answers. But it was implied in the latter part of the definition when talking about how white, straight people "must recognize their self-evil and beg forgiveness) and ordered to observe it in all things.." That included accepting whatever trans/lgbt activists or other identity activists told them. So if we're told muscular, bearded 300lb wrestlers with a penis are women we have to just accept that or we're bigots and hateful.

For what it's worth, when I and some friends (including 2 ex-military) were discussing what to be done to increase recruitment base housing was one of the main agreement points. Fix it up and build more. It would not only allow people to not worry about affording and finding housing wherever they were transferred but would build esprit de corps/comradery among the men, which would be a huge attraction to today's younger generation who, the polls and papers tell us, have few friends and suffer from loneliness.

Absolutely. If you compare them and firefighters to police and firefighters virtually anywhere else in the world they are wildly overpaid. There are a few cities in the US where they're paid comparable, and a couple of small countries in Europe, mainly the nordic ones and Switzerland. But Canadian police earn more than anyone else.

What do you mean it's not working? If you mean the progressives in academia and media have succeeded in getting it accepted by corporations and government, you're correct. Trans has become the holy grail for progressives and much of the Left. ANY disagreement on what trans activists want risks doxxing, accusations of hating 'lgbt people' and demands that you be fired or your company boycotted. But if you mean accepted by ordinary people, no. Ordinary people are willing to treat trans people with respect but there are too many elements of what trans activists want that people aren't willing to go along with. Including accepting sex as a completely cultural assumption that can change back and forth any day you want it to. The fact 85% told that poll I posted in the other thread they did not agree that children should be taught that sex was not biological should testify to that. The majority in that poll also don't believe trans women should be in women sports and don't believe in the new pronouns. The reason people aren't protesting this as much is they're just not paying attention. In that same pole they spoke of opinion on that teacher who called themselves Kayla Lemieux, the one with the giant fake breasts. Opinions on whether they should be allowed to teach were about evenly split for one group. When they tested the other group alongside a picture it broke 75-11 for no. Somehow, most hadn't even seen anything about that story. I think we get the idea on political groups like this that everyone is as informed as we are of ongoing issues, and it's just not the case.

Here's the thing about progressives. They have absolutely nothing but empathy and sympathy for the hardcore drug addicts in the street, the methheads and heroin users with fifty or sixty arrests for thefts, vandalism and violence. But let one guy who isn't even really conservative get hooked on antidepressants because his wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer and it's open season to ridicule him forever after. Even when he finally gets off them.
