  1. You are not disagreeing with me by saying that. My point is that they're NOT being like us.
  2. True. You know why? Because we've considered taking care of the elderly has been a low skill job forever, and it has paid very poorly. And while there have been a few increases it is still a poorly paid job that is easy to get into. And the reason the old folks homes haven't had to pay higher still is because of those immigrants. Same goes for all low wage jobs. Immigrants are here to keep wages down. The Trudeau government even bragged about it. As for the hospitals, I've seen some there. Mostly as PSWs but I've seen some nurses, though very few doctors. I've only ever seen (as in was a patient of) one immigrant doctor. She was east Indian, I think, and I saw her at a clinic. She was very good.
  3. And I never understood why. We were better off with 18. Every list of the best countries in the world to list is almost entirely those with small populations.
  4. That it was a rushed vaccine that despite its flaws, still helped us get through covid. And we're not talking about covid here, but the long proven vaccines we've given every child for generations.
  5. I don't insist it is all-encompassing. However, I bet almost anything else you can think of flows from the hierarchy of importance and the demand for apologizing for the existence of white history and success and that we were mean to people's ancestors (as their ancestors were mean to others). Lots of conservatives dislike Trump, including me. It is the hierarchy I mentioned, and the numerous times you have adhered so strictly to it on subjects like trans and the rest of the rainbow, including drag queens, as well as on subjects like Muslims, and until recently immigration that makes people question how conservative you are. The Post has not pulled away from covering the stuff in schools that Fat Ford has done nothing about. In fact, his ministry is participating in it by embracing critical race theory and demanding all teachers be indoctrinated in antiracism. I agree. I think his focus will be mainly on economic issues. He will probably slash the DEI stuff in government, and the requirement the government puts on suppliers and universities to adhere to it if they want business or grants. I think he will cut the money going to mainstream media and, I hope, cancel some of the stupider stuff Trudeau has done and is doing, like his online hate bill. I don't really want the CBC eliminated. I would prefer it be reformed, and the CRTC largely eliminated. Or at least, its powers slashed. It started with the universities. The rot in academia has to be addressed. It could be, if Poilievre really put his mind to it. He could demand unbiased teaching and withhold grants to the universities if they don't follow through. If he really wanted to go after them he could use some kind of carrot and stick thing to encourage the provinces to act, as well.
  6. Trump is not and never has been a conservative.
  7. I think we all recognize what woke is. It's the division of people into separate groups based on sex, gender, religion, and race, and the elevating of certain of these groups on a sort of hierarchy of importance to the point they are put ahead of those at the bottom (straight white male christians) in acceptance for colleges and universities, in hiring and promotion in corporations and government, and qualify for government grants that are restricted to them and which exclude those at the bottom of the hierarchy (straight white male christians). They are given softer or non-existent sentences for criminal acts, including killing people, and treated in all things as if they were sacred beings and any protest or disagreement with them requires punishment. In fact, they are so deified there have to be special classes in school on what wonderful people they are, and adults are put through special indoctrination lectures where they are taught the hierarchy (including that as oppressors, white people are at the bottom and must recognize their self-evil and beg forgiveness) and ordered to observe it in all things. Right, like the major media person from the CBC who quit and then talked about how they had to fill out diversity charts for every news piece and interview, and were strongly encouraged to always find someone racialized to interview, or at least female, on all subjects. Or the CRTC order that says the CBC must devote 30% of its English language programming on independent shows and documentaries to producers who self identify as one of the preferred identity groups, to rise to 35% in 2026. Those preferred identity groups, need I say it, do not include white people unless they identify as gay or trans. Maybe when Poilievre gets in he'll get rid of the CRTC, or at least drastically prune back its powers. Maybe he'll even do something about the ridiculous level of DEI in the government. I have a friend who's very liberal bordering on progressive and is all into respect for racialized and gender groups etc. He also has a son who's been a star baseball player since he was nine. He played on the higher level, more intensive teams, the ones that travel around a lot, including to the US to play. He tried out for the university team only to fail. You know who didn't fail, a guy from his last team who was pretty much the worst player on that team. When he was telling me about this and how he couldn't understand how that kid had been selected instead of his I asked him if the kid was white. He suddenly went quiet. He hadn't even thought of it. Then he realized what DEI meant, and that his kid had been screwed out of a position on the university team by someone not nearly as good as him but who checked off a box. That's how people stop wanting woke. When they start to see how it negatively impacts them and their families.
  8. The only time Muslim nations have been at peace has been when their non-neighbors were too strong for them to attack. And the only time they're at peace within a single state is when they're in charge or too small a minority to demand special rules and considerations of the majority (else you get terrorism). Uhm, no it's not. Most of our immigrants now are Indian and Chinese. So the fastest growing religion in Canada is Hindu.
  9. You really want to turn the conversation in that direction, you gullible twat? And society, which is made up of people, should also have the right to choose not to associate with low intellect fools who don't believe in science and want to infect everyone else with the diseases they and their children will get. Go live in Ecuador or somewhere they don't have vaccines. Oh, wait! They do! Otherwise, you die of tropical diseases!
  10. Uhm, except that the odds of bleeding out if you're bleeding heavily are pretty high; certain if you don't stop it quickly. The odds of being harmed by measles, mumps and rubella vaccines are negligible. We've been using them for many decades. Adverse reactions almost never happen, and when they do they're with people who are immunocompromised or suffering some other disease. And even then deaths are extraordinarily rare. The odds of a child dying from these vaccines is lower than being hit by lightning. The risk is too low for vaccines to be taken into consideration. You can't legitimately compare it to someone bleeding profusely. All rights in the Charter can be limited on grounds that are 'reasonable' in a free and democratic society. Section 1 states this clearly. No. I don't accept that the 'rights' of an individual to be free of a minuscule chance of dangerous adverse reaction from a vaccine - while taking upon themselves the usually worse odds of getting the disease the vaccine was intended for - trump society's need to avoid being swept by communicable diseases every year, which would be the inevitable result of you getting your way.
  11. That could be problematic. Then, instead of wanting every Jew dead, they'll want them dead and then reanimated so they can kill them again.
  12. They voted in a terrorist group that promised to destroy Israel and kill all Jews as their government. And Hamas has had 18 years in control of all media as well as the school system. They cheered and supported the Oct 7 attack. I don't think it's possible to make them MORE inclined to hate Jews.
  13. The problem is that's exactly what they have been doing. It failed when Hamas was able to hit sections of the fencing with overwhelming force and numbers. You can never be strong enough all along a fifty-kilometer-long border that this won't succeed without devoting tens of thousands of men to guard it, at enormous cost.
  14. People like you, you dumb twat, throw that term out at anyone who disagrees with your identity politics, despite the fact that assumptions and actions taken in the name of identity politics are openly and defiantly racist.
  15. No, he's mostly right. Coyne's related to Trudeau. His father was governor of the bank of Canada. He went to UofT's Trinity College, then the London School of Economics. On economics, he's pretty good. But when it comes to any and all social policy issues he might as well be marching up the street with arms linked to Trudeau and Singh singing Solidarity Forever. He's a strong supporter of the Century Initiative. Which is why he never mentions immigration as a possible source of the problem Canada is facing with lack of production.
  16. He's not a liberal. He's a progressive and a proponent of identity politics. There's no humor in them. These are the people who drove comedians off college campuses, then follow them to town and demonstrate in front of their shows.
  17. I can also not tell you what their reactions will be to aspirin or Tylenol, or any other drug they might wind up being required to take in their lives. I also can't say for a certainty they will not die during a necessary operation. So what do you want, everyone to be like the Christian scientists and reject all modern medicine in favor of prayer? I can absolutely say for a fact that the reward for having everyone, or nearly everyone vaccinated massively outweighs the risks for a society or community. It is absolutely a demonstrated fact that it is better for the community as a whole. And that is why the community requires them. If people don't like that they're free to find a community elsewhere that is willing to put up with repeated epidemics for the sake of individual freedom.
  18. It's not a party line. It's an agreement that vaccines protect children and protect society and a recognition of the reality that they've been doing so for generations now. The evidence is crystal clear and absolutely undeniable... by anyone sane. We know what society was like before vaccines. We know about the deadly epidemics that swept through the population for as long as recorded history, from Rome to London to New York to Toronto and Montreal. We are not returning to the "Bring out yer dead!" days because of some flat-earthers who read something on the internet and now think they're molecular biologists.
  19. This is like demanding proof that if I drive my car at 160 down the road and rip through every stop sign and red light I will definitely have an accident. Or proof that if I drink a lot of alcohol like I want to I will definitely hit someone on the way home in my car. What are my chances of that just from driving drunk? Nobody can know for a certainty who is going to get what disease. What we do know for a certainty is that if people stop taking vaccines a lot of them will get measles and mumps and then progress up from there into TB epidemics like the ones that used to kill so many people. What you're arguing is personal rights vs society's right to protect itself from being continually swept by diseases that kill thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands. Being a part of that society requires compromise and living under the laws society has dictated. Society has long decided that personal freedoms can be compromised for the good of the state. You can't beat your children. You can't rape your wife. You can't even paint your garage door the wrong colour in some cities, or put a fence in that goes to high. There's a myriad of laws society has imposed on its members by the general agreement of the elected members of that society. If you don't want to take vaccines then you have to remove yourself from that society, just like society removes other people who refuse to abide by its laws - into places called prisons.
  20. You're the guy who wants to commit genocide on Israel and you accuse me of lacking humanity? Oh, yes, yes, I know. You don't WANT to commit genocide against them! You just want policies that let the Arabs move in and commit genocide. Then you can shake your head sadly and say "Well, they shouldn't have done that." And then get on with your life. Riiight. The proponent and defender of identity politics says I'M obsessed with race.
  21. You defend that like a character in a poorly written comedy. The meme is, of course, an unfunny (The Left generally lack any sense of humor) and nonsensical excuse by people like you that attempts to portray the pushback by the right against your identity politics as unjustified It leaves out the first panel, that's the panel where every sort of minority is hired and promoted ahead of him due to their race, where people of other races are admitted to colleges and universities ahead of him despite lower marks, where he's constantly being lectured by guys like you about how the white race is inherently racist, invented racism, is the only group that is racist or can be racist, and that the white race is responsible for every problem on the planet. All while flooding the country with millions more immigrants who, due to their race, will immediately be put in line ahead of him while the government apologizes to them for your and your ancestors' racism.
  22. That's the kind of answer only those on the far Left would offer up. "Why are you against this freedom we're giving you at the end of a gun barrel? Take it, or else!" Yes, the freedom to let the state decide what your child's gender is, even if that is opposed to biological and scientific fact and will lead to lifelong misery. The freedom to sit in a room and be harangued by commissars informing us of the realities of the new ideology, and be fired and cancelled if you offer up the slightest objection. The freedom to watch others with less skill hired or promoted ahead of you due to their race while not daring to object. The freedom to have your children indoctrinated by the new ideology from kindergarten right through university. Such freedom you offer, comrade!
  23. Andrew Coyne's headlined article is more than a little depressing as it points out that Canada is, in comparison to other nations, falling in wealth as others surge past us. Our per capita GDP is lower than it was in 2014. And while our GDP itself rose last quarter, that's an illusory figure, brought about entirely by our increased population. The reason is a decades-long failure to grow productivity. And that has two sides to it. The first is a growing desire by politicians to buy votes by offering up more and more social spending and lowering taxes on the lower-income - lower producing - population, which means raising it on the higher-income- - higher producing - workers. That has helped drive many of the more skilled, talented, and high-production people out. Something like three-quarters of a million Canadians are legally working in the United States. And they're not digging ditches or cleaning floors. These are generally highly skilled people. And that's the second side. Canada has replaced them with mass immigration since the 1980s. And the bulk of those coming in are low-skilled, low-production workers, if they work at all. The influx of people working low production jobs, driving cabs or uber, working at fast food restaurants, cleaning floors, working in retail and hotels has helped those businesses but avoided the kind of wholesale changes needed to increase productivity. Or as economist Doug Wright put it last year lack of cheap labour "forces employers to pay higher wages, provides better working conditions and drives the creative destruction that leads to higher productivity, more valuable products and better business models.” Added to all this are the myriad new laws, regulations and brakes on business and industry which have increased the cost of business. The Trudeau government has been particularly enthusiastic at producing such laws and regulations. https://archive.is/LO3jk
  24. The Macdonald Laurier Institute did a survey and asked Canadians what they thought of the PM's woke beliefs that are being pushed onto us by the academics and unions and now the corporate elites. Surprise, Canadians don't approve! 85% are opposed to teaching children there is no such thing as biological sex. 92% don't believe in separating children in schools into 'privileged' and 'oppressed'. 70% don't agree that Canada is racist. Two thirds of Canadians oppose removing statues of Sir John A MacDonald. The same numbers oppose transgender women in sports And, when separated between Left and Right, the study makes it very clear it's the Left pushing identity politics and cancel culture. https://macdonaldlaurier.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/20240129_Culture-wars-Kaufmann_PAPER-B-v2-FINAL.pdf
