The Canadian Military has problems but the men and women serving do so willingly. They do as they are told. The Military members can do and have done a great many things with less and done it admirably. Now, the DND, has always been a political pawn and played the game for whatever party was in power. That is what a government department does, whatever the in power politicians say. Was the same when conservatives were in power.

As an old timer ex military, I can assure you that we did have more than just white straight males, in the Air Force anyway. I had a crew of aircraft mechanics that were 50% women. Great techs too, Still friends after all these years Problem/issues with women in the aviation trades is that they did not stick around long for various reasons and marriage and kids were priority. If they stayed, being deployed was also a big reason for them getting out. There were always a lot of women in the logistics, administration and medical and several other fields. Yes, there were (and are) few in the combat occupations but, the physicality of those occupations makes it difficult for most of them but as a whole, there were always women in the Military.

Nope but I did not lobby the government to lessen imprisonment and rehabilitate in the community. Having said that, my initial comment was to question the assumption is was a released criminal when there was no report of that in the article.

I read the quote. It has long been an issue of keeping people incarcerated too long. Activists and others have demand they be released and rehabilitated in the community. Parole was deemed more punishment. So, they are released. The"people" are organizations and activists that have lobbyed the governments and won. My comment to the OP was that the article did not identify who the attacker was so they cannot and should not make assumptions they cannot support.

I have told you that I took and will take boosters because of my fight with cancer. Chemo, radiation, surgery ,more chemo have left me somewhat immuno-comprimised as well as with post cancer issues. This is a proper precaution for me. There are billions of people that have taken vaccinations for reasons known to themselves and they did what they decided was best for themselves. I have never besmirched anti vaxxers and only said they made a choice and suffer the consequences of their decisions. I have besmirched those that adamantly have made fun of or tried to embarrass those that did get vaccinated. I have always said the choice is yours and live with that choice. For every anti vax statement or link you produce, I can easily provide a pro link. It can be a never ending pissing contest. There is no lose in the health of people issue. People have to decide for themselves and calling people names that disagree with you is not in the best interest of their health.

The government makes the laws. Police enforce the laws (if not defunded) People commit the crimes. Yes, the overview is what is in the Bill. What is the problem with the Bill? It is what the people wanted.

I am from Vancouver. Downtown East Hastings was a crap hole of a place when I was growing up many decades ago. It is just a bigger hole now. Allowing camping out in Stanley Park only invites the right people doing the right things? LOL Crime, stabbings, shootings etc happen all over and has been going on forever. I took the vaccination for myself, for my reasons, to protect myself as my fight with cancer is tough enough without worrying about a serious virus. Billions took it for their own reasons too.
