Harper's Second Recession: More Than GDP Decline
Hudson Jones replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You're dancing around the meaning of a recession and nit picking, by using one month as the reason to try to invalidate the truth. It's been almost 10 years and Harper has had 7 consecutive deficits. When are you going to accept that your Economic God is a farce? It should be reminded that when Harper came to power, he actually took a Liberal surplus and turned it into a negative before the world economic meltdown.- 29 replies

American Export To Canada: Left-Wing Advocacy
Hudson Jones replied to kraychik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
He is actually quoting himself from the blogger site. The double standards and inconsistency that drips from people like Kraychik are borderline humorous. In one breath, Canada's economic record, which happen to be one of the worst in Canadian history since Harper took over have NOTHING to do with Harper's management and all to do with global economics and the price of oil, but Alberta's oil industry woes have everything to do with the NDP government that just came into power in Alberta.- 18 replies

There you go buddy. Blame the media. It's the media's fault that the Conservative MP's have been ordered by the Democracy God to not speak to them or hold debates.
-
Typical. More excuses. Just like the economic god, himself. He doesn't take responsibility for being one of the worst, if not the worst, Prime Minister Canada has had when you look at the economic record. I'm hoping that at least a few of the 36% who voted for Harper, can finally accept and admit that Harper has been terrible at handling the economy. The rest will continue to be in denial.

Our Economic God has Canada in a recession after consecutive years of running a deficit. Recession confirmed as Canada's GDP shrank in 2nd quarter Link

1 - What figures? The ones that were posted by someone else? The figures do not back up your claim 2 - You know very little about the immigration system, the new programs, criteria and the changes that have been made in the past few years. If you did, you wouldn't make such blatantly misinformed comments such as this:
-
That won't happen without the blessing of Uncle Sam. Even the Gaza carnage was first coordinated with the Americans before it was launched. Attacking an actual country, with a military is something Israel will not and cannot do without U.S.' backing.
-
You have no idea what you're talking about. There is no point in debating with you, when you are unaware of the immigration system. I suggest that you look at the immigration programs and the changes that have been made in the last few years which show that we actually DO emphasize on bringing in younger immigrants. Majority of immigrants are going to be coming into Canada through the Express Entry system. Have a look at the criteria so I don't have to waste my time correcting you all the time: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

? Statistics are showing that you're wrong. Number of people going into retirement outnumber those going into the workforce. Your opinion is not going to change the numbers: In 2011, census data showed for the first time that there were more people aged 55 to 64, typically the age group where people leave the labour force, than aged 15 to 24, typically the age group where people enter it.

You'll get a much better return if you buy Iranian Rials. I was just looking at the exchange rate before and after sanctions and with all of the countries lining up and ready to invest into the country, their currency rate will for sure go up over 100%.

What callous, selfish, immoral and inhumane way of thinking. Not only is 800,000 people a drop in the bucket but we owe it to humanity to help each other out. Screw your way of thinking! Another wise contribution by Argus. They're all coming for our free welfare! Your racism, bigotry and ignorance disgusts me. I take comfort to know that most Canadians don't think the way you do. These people simply want a better life for themselves and their family. Why not seek it just like your ancestors and mine did by coming to Canada? From Joe Brennan: When you next ponder posting a 'funny' piss off we're full picture or a Britains First post about migrants being scum, parasites, swarm of thieves etc. look at this father with his child escaping from Syria and imagine looking him in the eye and pushing his boat back out to sea.

Hockey comparison? Okay. We're not comparing Crosby to Maruk. We're comparing Crosby to a player who was playing 10 years ago. Which is a fair comparison. The economic record of Stephen Harper to the prime minister right before him and every other prime minister since WW2 is inferior. It's quite odd for you to be saying this anyway. Because you are the one who has been comparing Mulcair to an NDP premier from over 20 years ago. Try to keep consistent, will you? And please stop being a total Conservative fanboy and then come here and say that you're "objective" or "non-partisan".
-
That's right. Harper, your economic god, has had the worst economic record of any prime minister since WW2. Oh yeah, the link.
-
It must be amazing to have the power to see the future. I would ask for the list of red tape and regulations that Mulcair is going to shove down our throats, but you know.. not all of us are here to back up our opinions.
-
That's good. As expected, more hot air and no substance. So conclusion: Harper has had the worst economic record of any prime minister since WW2. End score: Reality wins (but Canada loses)
-
You continuously forget to take into account the ratio of those going into retirement vs those going into work force. Because if you did, your argument would fall apart. This can become a big problem in Canada just like it has in Japan. If we don't have enough workers and taxpayers, not only will we not be able to replace those going into retirement, but we also will not be able to replace the taxes they paid. Someone will have to pay for our roads, healthcare and other services.
-
How convenient Argus. Your tireless attempts to cover for your irrational and illogical argument is somewhat amusing. First you try to dismiss Harper's poor economic record, when it comes to ALL previous prime ministers by saying that you cannot compare Harper's record to someone in the 40's. Then, when I mention that it's not just the prime ministers in the 40's, but ALL prime ministers before him, including the last two, then you try to dismiss his poor economic record by saying that it was a different "era". Like Martin and Chretien were from so long ago.
-
It's a percentage, so we're not talking about dollar value. Yes, you can compare it. Of course, I am not comparing it to just the prime minister from the 40's. I am comparing it to ALL of the prime ministers since the 40's. Including the last 2 Liberal prime ministers. Good try though.

You're obviously not reading the comments properly and carefully. It's difficult having a discussion when you're missing comments and are only replying to bits and pieces and then asking questions where I've already addressed them. I am here to debate, but I'm not here to hold your hand and take you through each post several times.
-
Yet.. what? where did you get? Even though I said: "the terrible NDP party in B.C." ? Does that sound like I said all left wing governments are good? It's important that you read the comments properly before responding. I did give credit to Wall's success beyond the good times. I clearly wrote about it. But of course, having potash, oil and gas suddenly go up in price was a big boost to the Saskatchewan economy. You should probably blame her for it. Or at least blame the party she is a member of, The Liberals. Not Mulcair and his policy. Your generalization is another reminder that you are once again displaying your "partisan hackerism". More commentary and no substance. Let me know if you have some links or stats to back up those claims. Of all of the prime ministers, Harper's record under Average Annual Real GDP Growth was 1.6%. Under Martin as prime minister it was 2.9% and under Chretien it was 3.5%. You can check the other claims you've made from the link below. You can check how Harper's record has been the worst or one of the worst in the following link. Source I still have not decided who I am going to vote for. I do know that Harper will not be getting my vote as the only supposed strength he's had, the economy is all a myth.
-
You keep saying that you're non-partisan, but your constant cherry picking shows something else. If all parties have had terrible records in provinces, then why only use the negative history of provincial NDP as your reason not to support Mulcair? What about how Romanow saved Saskatchewan after Devine ruined it? Under his NDP government, he made a lot of fiscally responsible choices. Devine's Conservative party morphed into the Saskatchewan Party, the same party you are giving credit to. How come Devine, Mulroney and even Harper's terrible record do not define the Conservatives but Bob Rae in Ontario and the terrible NDP party in B.C. define the federal NDP? It makes no sense. So why is it that you don't talk about Harper's terrible economic record? Pretty much in every category, when compared to other prime ministers, he has the worst record or one of the worst records. I like some of the things Brad Wall has done. He was also fortunate to come into power during a time where the abundance of natural resources, such as potash, oil and gas, suddenly jumped in prices. His fortunate timing in office aside, the reason why I like him is that he has not sat back to ride the natural resources wave. He has invested and nurtured other sectors as well. He has also pushed to bring many skilled immigrants to Saskatchewan. Something that's hard to do, considering that most immigrants prefer to live in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. So Brad Wall is a different kind of Conservative, with different policies, than Devine or Harper. Just like Bob Rae NDP and his policies are different than Mulcair's NDP. For you to sit here and fear monger only shows the opposite of what you're saying. You are displaying "partisan hackism".
