  1. To be fair, majority of the votes went to the opposition.
  2. I am still undecided on seal hunting. I don't think I would support an all out ban. That said, there is a difference between protesting what your government does/supports as opposed to what another government does. So I don't think comparing black rhino's to seals is a fair comparison.
  3. That's the MP that called Nelson Mandela a terrorist. He should be laughed at for that.
  4. While the struggle between the military power and Egyptians continue, an interesting story has been developing in regards to Egyptian Christians and Muslims. Just recently, Coptic Christians in Egypt became the victims of attacks blamed on an ultraconservative Muslim group. Not long after this, I read a story about Muslim groups forming a human shield around Christian Churches in different parts of the country during mass while Christians were forming a human shield around Muslims praying during the protests in Tahrir Square. I found this story to be quite inspiring as it sent a very strong message to the extremists and to the world that extremist Muslim groups do not represent all Muslims in Egypt. Here is an article and some photos.
  5. So to you it's not about whether what was done was wrong but about who the guilty party is?
  6. Pat Martin is wrong about how he communicated his frustration, but the frustration is justified. The Harper government has shutdown debate on many of the bills. That's not what I want to see in my government.
  7. I love the CBC. Especially CBC radio.
  8. To add to that, we should also take into account the voter turnout which is around 60%.
  9. It's astonishing watching an average citizen being okay with this.
  10. The British had the technology at the time to bring the oil out, but the oil did not belong to BP. From what I have read, despite Mossadegh's insistence, BP was not even willing to go 50/50 on the profit of the Iranian oil. Even though they had such deals in the Arab states. Any country and its leader should be commended for standing up for itself in such a situation. Mossadegh was an important figure in the Iranian history. One of few who championed democracy and put Iran above the interest of foreign powers. He was the only politician that was able to push for real democracy and the British and Americans worked together to end that. I am not sure why you would be in favour of the British and American actions to overthrow such a person.
  11. I've searched but couldn't find the thread. If you remember what the title of the thread is or who posted it, I'd appreciate it.
  12. No need to get defensive. No one said greedy bankers are confined in the United States and that Greenspan and Bernanke only have friends in the United States. This news came out in July and I'm surprised that it's not the biggest scandal in the last century. $16 trillion is above United States' GDP. this is the mother of all scandals.
  13. "The first ever GAO(Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill(HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out. Ben Bernanke(pictured to the left), Alan Greenspan, and various other bankers vehemently opposed the audit and lied to Congress about the effects an audit would have on markets. Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve’s nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander’s webpage earlier this morning: http://sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/news/?id=9e2a4ea8-6e73-4be2-a753-62060dcbb3c3 What was revealed in the audit was startling: $16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and foreign banks everywhere from France to Scotland. From the period between December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations, and governments. The Federal Reserve likes to refer to these secret bailouts as an all-inclusive loan program, but virtually none of the money has been returned and it was loaned out at 0% interest." Link This news floored me. I knew there was abuse in the FR, but I didn't know it was this bad. I am curious to see how the media will handle this. If there is no big uproar about it in the media, then we should all start wearing our tinfoil hats.
  14. Please explain. Iran's oil was the property of someone else? What did Mossadegh do that put people's safety in danger?
  15. Canada does need to replace its jets but the F-35's just did not make sense. Not only are they millions of dollars more expensive than other better options, but they're not suited for the arctic, which should be the focus at the moment. It's like buying a rear wheel drive sports car to drive in Regina's winters. The commission that the lobby groups will lose on this would really burn.
  16. I thought I saw somewhere that you agreed to the $3 billion U.S. gives to Israel which goes mostly towards military. Why the double standard?
  17. The democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran? How was it a great idea?
  18. Heavy Jewish/Israeli lobby and the Christian voters who believe in the rapture.
  19. I don't think justice = heavier punishment for those who smoke marijuana than those who are pedophiles Justice also does not = a failing system that has already been admitted by several lawmakers (including republicans) who used what Harper wants to do in this bill. Don't be afraid of information and facts:
  20. Iran routingly rapes people? Do you have sources to back this up or are you one of those people who routingly makes things up? You can fault the Iranian government for its systematic abuse of rights for freedom of expression but you cannot use that as a reason to justify or suppress criticism of Israel which is made by not only Iranians, but the whole world. You have a strange way of trying to argue points.
  21. According to sources from U.S., Iran and Israel, it was Mossad who was behind the explosion. Is this a green light for Iran to start shooting its Shahab missiles at Israel? According to Derek and Argus it is. In fact, Iran should have done a pre-emptive strike when Israel created its nuclear program over 50 years ago.
