  1. Nationalize oil and gas. It would be hard to invent a more destructive ritual of national self-punishment. Year after year, we hand oil companies gigantic tracts of pristine land. They skin them of entire ecosystems. They vacuum billions of dollars out of the country. Their oversized power, sunk into lobbying and litigation, upends government law-making. And Canada’s return? The exploitation of the tar sands provides just two percent of our GDP. It has gutted manufacturing jobs and made a mockery of our emissions targets. And now that oil prices are crashing – as resource commodities predictably do – it is putting a vicious squeeze on government spending. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/true-north/2014/dec/03/want-a-green-energy-future-nationalize-canadas-oil-industry
  2. That he started a war and the only thing he won was higher fuel prices, some dead bodies and the Strait going back to exactly like it was before he started the war.
  3. You say government is the problem, but the solution is more government subsidized care.
  4. Every article based on any objective measures will point to American trade policy/tariffs being the main reason for the downturn in Canada’s economy. It’s going to be painful for years to come. To claim otherwise is delusional. As if we can tweak some red tape and Canada will be back on the economic track that it had been. Pure rightwing fantasy.
  5. You’re comparing the flag of Palestine to Nazis? Weird. Bit of a stretch
  6. Your doom and gloom scenarios of “taking back the country” are asinine. You lost the culture. No one wants your theocratic nonsense.
  7. Yes. Happy. No evidence that the sky is falling other than religious BS and rage-bait in the media.
  8. We can’t ask questions? Why are you afraid of that question? I explained why. There was zero evidence in the article of any wrongdoing.
  9. What happened to the deaf person? How do you know that it wasn’t legitimate? The family is making an accusation, but there’s no evidence. Are you in favour of capital punishment? I would say closer to 75% of media are lying rightwing rags. Even that CTV article only contains accusations and no evidence. It’s media rage-bait.
  10. I think a lot of the Con partisans absolutely lost their $hit after the Libs won another election. They saw their party up 20 pts and thought this was it and when the rug was pulled out, their heads exploded and they’re still in a rage. They hate the Libs more than they like Canada, so now Canada itself doesn’t deserve to be defended by these people.
  11. USA isn’t known for their advanced transportation infrastructure. In fact, they’re a dismal example of how transportation should be built.
  12. No one said we care what they “think”. I explained why they are one of the investment partners. But it makes sense not to fill up airports with short runs that should be serviced by train.
  13. Too many rightwing outlets are just making stuff up to try and further their anti-choice causes. It’s like the hysteria promulgated about abortions at 9 months, or some crap. Rightwingers lap up the lies.
  14. Who cares what the number is if they wanted to die with some dignity and not in agony $hitting themselves helpless in bed?
  15. I know what “kill” means. And if it’s just a matter of opinion, then it’s useless. “Turn the other cheek” isn’t “kill them in self defence”.
  16. Interesting that you are in favour of capital punishment while spouting your holy commandments. Thou shalt not kill only counts towards people you like? The ones you don’t like are fine to kill.
  17. Trump and Vance are no longer interested in regime change. They changed the goalposts to phantom nukes. So to recap: the war just made the regime more hardline and probably worse for the people living there.
  18. This is why Air Canada is one of the investment partners in this. They don’t want to do short domestic flights as it doesn’t make as much business sense. They don’t want airports operating at full capacity for less profitable short runs.
