  1. So you’re pointing out that there isn’t really substantial differences between the two parties?
  2. Can you refuse the vaccine? If so, then no one is forced, so I wouldn’t use that word. It’s like saying people are “forced” to get a licence to drive on public roads…. I suppose, in the loosest sense of the word, that it’s true. But no one has to get a licence.
  3. Is it useful to have a discussion where people are using different meanings of the same word?
  4. They wouldn’t need to arrest people…. Just clear them out of the vicinity. Or have barricades to prevent them from going there. I’m glad we can agree that these protestors do indeed infringe on the rights of some of the patients.
  5. Don’t we already have those things? I was thinking of future legislation, not legislation that has already been passed for the last 25 years. I don’t think we need another GST…
  6. 5 blocks of people …. Do you think it’s realistic for police to arrest 5 blocks worth of people every time there’s a protest near a hospital?
  7. What kinds of legislation do you think the Libs and Cons would both be in favour of?
  8. So you think thousands of people should have been arrested? Is that realistic?
  9. You mean a fine for not checking the vaccination status? Like they’d be fined if they didn’t check a minor for ID to buy booze? Do you think most people would use the term “force” in that way?
  10. Do people have to pay money if they choose not to be vaccinated?
  11. “Wednesday was Faulds’s 51-year-old brother, Ed Prentice’s, second to last day for chemotherapy. But because of the massive crowd, she had to drop her immunocompromised brother four or five blocks away.”https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/09/02/bc-cancer-patients-walk-protesters-appointment/ Do you think that a protest forcing a cancer patient getting chemo to walk 5 blocks through throngs of unmasked and unvaccinated protestors could pose any risk to the cancer patient?
  12. You think hypothetical questions about people’s competing rights are dumb? Do you agree that people’s rights do come into conflict on occasion? If one doesn’t try and think about these things beforehand, how could one determine the correct course of action?
  13. Xul, are you a Canadian? In Canada?
  14. If one doesn’t have to get the vaccine, then how is one forced to get the vaccine? Did you just change the meaning of “forced” to try and prove your point?
  15. Any idea what a hypothetical question is?
  16. So then only some lies are free speech. Some lies should be illegal, according to what you just said. What about inciting violence? Just free speech?
  17. But if there was a conflict…. Say the noise from protests right outside the hospital is hampering someone’s ability to recover, whose rights do you think should prevail…. Ther protestors, who can protest elsewhere? Or the patient who is stuck in the hospital?
  18. Did you think O’Toole talking about “canceling Canada Day” was a scare tactic, or did you take that message seriously?
  19. When someone says “prove Bigfoot doesn’t exist”, do you take them seriously and go about trying to disprove Bigfoot? Or do you tell them…. “Heyyy…. Wait just a minute…. You have to prove Bigfoot, not the other way around”?
  20. I thought you were in favour of free speech, even if you don’t like it?
  21. Do you think the Conservative base would want them to vote with the Liberal government?
  22. Again…. Labels. I think it’s better to debate the ideas, rather than labels. Don’t you?
  23. 1 - But, pastor or not, he’s allowed to say it, right? The courts didn’t say he can say it because he’s a pastor.
  24. We agree on a lot! Do you think it’s productive in a conversation to refer to blanket statements about “the left” (or right, or whatever), or do you think it’s better to talk, and disagree, about the ideas?
  25. Do you think mentally abusing your child should fall under the purview of allowable speech?
