Fentanyl OD’s are an epidemic because it is dirt cheap and easily produced compared to natural opioids such as opium and heroin. It has a lot more to do with economics of the drug trade than politics.

The US is the only country in the world with more guns than people, per capita, twice as many as the next two highest, Serbia and Yemen.

There are plenty of countries with far denser populations than the US which have very few gun murders. Like Japan and every Western European country.

In 2020, the US had 19,000 firearms homicides. Canada had 743 homicides of all types. With 8.5 times the population, the US had 25 times as many firearms homicides than Canada had homicides total.

Certainly not a paradise but you have 10,000 more gun deaths than traffic fatalities every year. We have twice as many traffic fatalities than gun deaths. We have plenty of people trying to immigrate to Canada and a lot of your illegals have kept on going to Canada. Illegals are not responsible for most gun deaths.

Tell that to the families of all those mass shooting victims. When you have a country of 330 million owning 400 million guns with little accountability, of course they will be easy to steal.

Not in the US. Almost all the guns used in mass shootings were bought legally, including the Buffalo, Uvalde and Tulsa Hospital shootings. In all three cases the guns were bought legally just a couple of days or a few hours before the shootings. In two cases, by minors.

It is a big deal because it just allows people to bitch about someone else without presenting any solutions of their own. Basically it's just being lazy.

The 10 states with the highest overdose fatality rates are evenly split between red and blue. The two worst are West Virginia and Kentucky.
