  1. All that shows is a single city cannot isolate itself from a national madness. It also demonstrates the stupidity of cities like Toronto that think banning handguns on its own will actually do anything.
  2. Firearm fatality rate by state. Fatalities per 100K pop Mississippi 28.6 Louisiana 26.3 Wyoming 25.9 Alabama 23.6 Alaska 23.5 Missouri 23.9 Illinois 14.1
  3. Chicago is in Illinois.
  4. The first thing Ted Cruz did was accuse Democrats of playing politics when they proposed better background checks. Those kids were massacred in that scumbag's state for crying out loud.
  5. Going out to beat someone for fun = massacring 19 little kids and their teachers. We know who one whacked out Canadian is.
  6. No, but 9 of the top ten for gun fatalities are red and Illinois isn't one of them. The one blue state is New Mexico. !9 of the top 25 are red and Illinois isn't one of them either.
  7. Illinois has the same firearms fatality rate as Texas.
  8. Have to carry a firearm for personal protection. Turn businesses, schools and public buildings into fortresses. Body armour and bullet proof backpacks for kids. Arming teachers. Those are the opposite of freedom. It is amazing how many real freedoms the gun gang are willing to give up, just to prevent proper background checks so people who shouldn't have guns, can't buy them legally. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
  9. Sort of but not very effective. Any strengthening of federal checks has been vehemently opposed by Republicans.
  10. Keeping people off the street so they can't make more victims is not hatred.
  11. It has been very effective in preventing war between its members. The rubes are people who get suckered into believing in the politics of division.
  12. We have few consequences anymore. Judges just give conditional sentences and when those conditions are breached, they just follow them up with more conditions. Charges take years to be laid and even more years before they the reach court. Any consequences are booted way down the road and criminals just keep carrying on business as usual.
  13. Being held hostage to your own fear is not freedom. Or does the idea of carrying a gun just give you a woody? You wearing a seat belt doesn’t endanger someone else. Seatbelts don’t kill.
  14. The illegal guns for sale in Canada, come from the US. I don't care if the Land of the Free pays a price, I do object to us paying a price for their lunacy. BTW. If you have to carry a firearm for protection, you aren't really free.
  15. Of course they could. There were plenty of people who knew this guy was unbalanced. A real background check would mean interviewing a few people who knew him. Do you do everything with your eyes closed, just relying on faith or something you read on the internet.
  16. His guns came from the US, not Canada. While sharing a border is one of our biggest advantages economically, it is also one of our biggest curses.
  17. The majority of firearms in the US are sold legally, it doesn't matter where they came from. Perhaps they should start jailing people who are careless enough to let their firearms be stolen. In Canada and many other countries they would likely be charged with unsafe storage. Why isn't this an issue in every other country with sane firearms regulations? Only in Amurica.
  18. He will get ostracized by the self anointed "patriots". MH was right, the US has become so rapped up in culture wars it is no longer capable of solving any domestic problems.
  19. What exactly is your point? Because arms come across the border illegally we should just open the border to them? We should drop all restrictions ourselves? The US has by far the highest firearm homicide and suicide rates in the developed world. This is one area we definitely do not want to be like them. When have I ever advocated grabbing guns? https://www.voanews.com/a/cdc-report-us-gun-homicides-spiked-35-from-2019-to-2020-/6568305.html 79% of all homicides involved firearms so let's stop the BS about knives and falling down stairs. Only in Amurica.
  20. Petty crime and theft but most serious crime relates to drugs. Even most theft relates to drugs.
  21. It used to be that way but not anymore. Getting caught has few consequences other than conditions that when breached are just followed by other conditions. Our snails pace legal system boots any real consequences years down the road.
  22. Bullshit. I don't know how assholes like that sleep at night.
