Don't then but I'd say preparedness is one possible solution when all others don't work. But as to this: Do you realize you're arguing against yourself? Those guys represent the protection you've got. Those were the local police. Not much were they? The same thing happened in Parkland. Remember Parkland's 'Officer Smugly' or whatever he was called on every liberal talk show for weeks then it turned out his incompetence and his officer's cowardice was a major part of the death count. He got fired. Hope they're better prepared now because, yeah, preparedness is an obvious reaction when nothing else works.

I'd say caution but right back at ya...so what. There are more guns than people in America and some of those people are dangerous. You can't grab all the guns and new laws are useless so be the good guy with the gun that knows how to use one safely and properly. I subscribe to this girl on YouTube: American Gun Chic: I started subscribing to her years ago when she'd decided she didn't want to be scared anymore so she thought she'd learn about guns. Now she's pretty much an expert and she travels around America teaching women who are where she was when she started. She calls them Honey Badgers.

That will never happen without totalitarianism. Maybe not even then. If you think it can, tell me how. If you can't, it's off the table. Bullshit. Only three percent of mass shootings (using the 4 or more hit rule) used assault rifles. It shows strict gun laws aren't working in Chicago. For example...did you know there's an "assault weapons" ban in Chicago. Not Illinois. Chicago. And yet the murders in Chicago continue. But speaking of Illinois weren't you the one that was going to save America from gun murders by increasing the waiting time to possess the gun after purchase? Illinois has such laws. Like somebody said here, Illinois is the middle of the pack of state gun murders. So is Texas. Texas has instant background checks Illinois slows the process down. Neither seems to be better than the other. -

Yes, but it's not all of Illinois. Cut the 'fun with figures' crap. Nobody doubts the finger was being pointed at Chicago not all of Illinois. Again Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country, perhaps in North America. Every new law you could want is already active in Chicago. And none of those laws are working. -

Yeah...let's pretend we're not talking about Chicago which has among the strictest if not the strictest gun laws of any locality in the country. Perhaps North America. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/2021-ends-chicagos-deadliest-year-quarter-century-82032244 -

Texas uses the National Instant Criminal background System (NICS) as authorized by the FBI. Here's how the NICS claim they work: So if NICS is not providing "INSTANT" background checks then that goes to what I've stated before on this thread. Part of the problem is existing laws and services are not performing as advertised or enforced up to snuff or at all. And if anybody is interested here's the other side of the gun control debate from the Vice President for Gun Owners of America. The claim is Biden and his secretarial pool in the Mainstream media are lying to you about key factors governing this issue. -

Actually, it wouldn't. You're wrong. The reason I know that is using the Wikipedia definition for Universal Background Checks Texas already has them: https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/background-check-procedures-in-texas/ You can get around them by using a private dealer but the Texas shooter bought his guns from a public firearms dealer. https://nypost.com/2022/05/25/texas-school-shooter-salvador-ramos-purchased-guns-legally/ Aristides may have a point that something more than an FBI NICS Instant background check might have helped but there was this: Uvalde school district was part of AI program that rooted out potential mass killers and monitored social media for threats and potential shooters But spell it out: do you really have improvements to existing laws that would have stopped this tragedy or do you just want to pretend you could grab all the guns and that would solve everything. -

I gave you the quote. How many times would you like me to quote it? Wortman skirted the law. I believe the Danforth shooters gun was traced to a B&E in mid America somewhere. Just yesterday I was reading a story about a guy who lives along the border letting his dog out late at night. He surprised a guy who was picking up a stash of guns or a gun coming in on a drone. Or to quote myself again "criminals do crime." It's what they do. Laws don't stop them. You'll never be able to grab their guns. And that's just one reason why you won't be able to grab all the guns. There are more. That's a good one though, because if you can't grab all the criminals guns whose guns would you want to grab? But you tell us you don't want to grab guns. Very well, what's your point then? I told you mine. Tell me yours. Is it just that you don't like guns? Good enough point taken. Anything else? It you're not suggesting gun grabbing to stop mass shooting what exactly are you suggesting? Hmm...that question sounds familiar. Seems like I might have asked it before. -

I believe That was my point. And I quote: I don't see how grabbing all the guns solves that. Assuming, you could - but you couldn't. I always find myself having to explain the obvious to Progressives. Criminals do crime that's why they call them criminals. They wouldn't give you their guns and they'd steal or otherwise appropriate the ones your masters keep. For what they call their security and such. -
Sometimes I think some people enjoy a horrific mass shooting of say...innocent children. It gives them an opportunity to go out onto the street and flaunt their self-proposed virtue by attacking convenient enemies as perpetrators. This one below has to be the funniest thing I've seen all year. Phonies.

There was a suicide by cop thing in the Scarborough district of Toronto a few days ago. Apparently some guy was luring cops by patrolling around schools with some sort of AR-style pellet gun or something. Twisted minds will find twisted ways to do twisted things. -

Didn't have the connections our Canadian serial killers have, I guess. Gabriel Wortman, the murder spree dentist of Nova scotia and the Danforth mass shooter of Toronto both used illegal guns. But somehow, all three of them found a way to do mass murders. -

Here's another one for the gun grabbers that never get to hear anything outside the Progressive MSM narrative. Woman with Pistol Stops Man Firing at Graduation Party Crowd with AR-15 https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/05/27/alleged-attacker-with-an-ar-15-shot-dead-by-woman-with-pistol/ This happens a lot more than you think. Quite often they don't even have to shoot, just pull their firearm to show the perp it's not going to be easy. -

I'm still curious about something though, Traveler. You seem to want to be presenting yourself as the man with the plan though, so I'll ask you. How were you planning to grab Americans' 20 million AR-style weapons if they're the problem? -

I don't know about that: More stories like this at link As to your belief mass shootings only happen in America you haven't a clue what you're talking about. Try this one. Try this one: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/aug/29/john-lott-jr-adam-lankford-botched-study-claiming-/ You need a rethink on your idea mental illness is not a factor too. Go ahead though, prove it. Show me the mass shooter of schools that didn't have mental problems. As to the bill Trump signed, I believe it was this one: Why? Is that a big problem in your world? The elderly scooting around in their electronic scooters perpetrating mass shoot em' ups? -
Another Mass Shooting
Infidel Dog replied to ExFlyer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yeah that would be a start. You might want to better define the specific types of mass shootings you're hoping to control though. Solutions for gang bangers, might not work for terrorists and solutions for foreign terrorists or foreign import gun crime might not work for the sad sack teen with dead morality. I think it's the latter you seem to be targeting with your solutions though so yeah, that would be a start. Adjusted age limits maybe. Better identification of problem actors. Better enforcement of existing laws. More responsible and better knowledge with problem drugs. Better ways of dealing with problem actors when identified. Stuff like that. Gun crime from gangs, cartels, terrorists, criminal recidivists, and such would require different solutions. -

You sure you don't? "Criminal gun violence has risen in Canada — and by a fairly significant margin, according to Statistics Canada." https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/fact-check-gun-violence-1.6166328
