  1. Leviticus 20:13
  2. You're absolutely correct a parliamentary system is not a republic. Still doesn't adress why Canada would ""simply fly apart without a monarchy" that hasn't meddled with our parliament in 300 hundred years Not to mention that the Quebec act of 1774 (also a major reason the 13 colonies revolted) and the act of union of 1840 are much more influential to the " basis of Canada"
  3. Again ever actually put on a goalie mask? How does losing peripheral vision make you better? A mask protects you that's it. The butterfly is about crease movement and the ability to react. If the mask was responsible why didn't every goalie adopt it in the 60's or the 70's or most of the 80's ? Because one has nothing to do with the other, but please provide any evidence of causation other than your unfounded opinion
  4. So let me get this straight, even though people used the butterfly before masks, and it took 30 years before it was used again, they're related? Please explain
  5. 30 years later Derp
  6. Francois Allaire, the godfather of todays butterfly style was 4 when plante first put on the mask, and didn't teach Roy the style for another 30 years. How are they related.
  7. What? You wrote goalies can play better with a mask, and the mask is responsible for the butterfly. A goalie mask limits vision and the butterfly was used by players that didn't wear one. The fact it took decades before it was used commonly futher disproves your silly unfounded asertation that they are connected
  8. Sorry brother but glen hall used the butterfly without a mask
  9. Dude read what i wrote, never said you couldn't say what you think, I said claiming I am advocating for a no hit league because i prefer skill to goons is most definitely a straw man Authority though, does help distinguish between those that have knowledge and those that speak entirely from opinion. I get my medical advice from a doctor not from the cashier at Wal-Mart. If you take your opinion based on what a talking head, 40 years removed from any actual role in the game, instead of first hand experience( which you obviously don't have or you would have answered my question) you'll never be able to understand the complexity of the game, or the nuance of what im saying, but please tell me again i want contact eliminated from hockey
  10. Help you play better? Ever wear a goalie mask? Makes them safer yes, but the limited vision actually makes it harder to see the puck.
  11. Accusing me of a logical fallacy while building a straw is pretty funny, but i wasn't necessarily making an appel to authority. My point was if you've never actually been in a full contact game with grown men, you shouldn't promulgate the idea that anyone that encourages skill advocates for a weaker "no hit league" Simply nonsense
  12. He probably thinks Plante was a whimp to put on a mask
  13. Again, i have in no way argued for the abolition of hitting, but keep arguing with the straw man you created. Still waiting on what level you played, must have been high since you're such an authority
  14. Hmmm, seems like you're saying skill level is increasing Right im sure that has nothing to do skill You're arguing my point there brother
  15. All you have to do is watch one of those old games to see where hockey has come, it's like they move in slow motion. What level of hockey did you play, because you don't seem to know much about the evolution of the game
  16. Neither are contact sports, nothing to do with the topic Really? How do you think don cherrys bruins would do in today's game?
  17. And you don't have to build a straw man. Never even suggested removing hitting. I said that cherry( a man that has had no real role in hockey since the 70's) is out of touch with today's game. What level did you play?
  18. Rot in hell? You need to relax son. Who said anything about removing toughness? Obviously hockey is a contract sport Cherry is from a long ago time, the big dman that can't skate but would just hold and hook the skilled players cant keep up anymore. The goon that could only fight has been eliminated because most didn't have the ability to play any actual shifts. You want poor hockey and lots of fights watch the ECHL, and let the real hockey fans watch the best show off their skill Ever actually play the game?
  19. The NHL is getting faster, more skilled and smaller. If you think watching a lumbering Chara basically fall on someone, is more entertaining than watching Mcdavid performing things at 35kms an hour with a puck that most couldn't do standing still with a tennis ball. I think the game might have past you by as well
  20. Atheism is not a world view, simply the lack of belief in a deity Secular government, is simply advocating for the separation of church and state Secular humanity on the other hand is a world view. In a nut shell it's a moral philosophy based on "well being" and not an impossed set of rules handed down from some fictitious omnipotent being from on high
  21. The last time the governor general(aka the Queen) actually used the privilege of head of state to refuse Royal assent was at the beginning of the 1700's. So the idea that we are somehow dependant on the monarchy to stop the country from " simply fliing apart" is demonstrably false
  22. No flight to quality compared to the states? What? A simple analysis of how our banks managed the subprime mortgage crisis disproves that statement with prejudice
  23. He should have been fired years ago, nothing to do with his politics though. Hockey is becoming more and more a skill game, something Cherry has never known or cared about. Rock'Eming and Sock'Eming is not what the NHL fan is looking for today, well not really since the 90's if we're being honest
  24. Agreed, gov't apathy on any particular issue is directly related to voter apathy on the same issue. However, this is par for the course, up and until we decide that any single issue is important enough that a majority of Canadians want it, gov't won't act against the status quo. Therfore we must force gov't to act like we've done many times before (health care, right to vote, civil unions between same sex couples etc.) but in the mean time each individual should do what they can. My mom told me " Think global, act local"
  25. That was an anecdotal example of things that are being done. I did not say raise my taxes and everything will be ok, I said that if I could be shown realistic, pragmatic policy to actually deal with the problem, I would gladly help pay for it. I was also offering up other real world solutions outside of gov't. If memory serves me the NGO we dealt with primarily rehabed manufacturing plants to be more energy efficient and helped in the construction of new plants for the same purposes. My company donated to them out of pocket, check out the business concept PPP (people, planet, profit) in a nut shell , impact on community and the environment are part of the bottom line. Do you have any actual ideas, proposals, or solutions? because so far all you're saying is gov't bad, business bad. How does that help move us forward?
