  1. Ah yes and its the governments fault that hospitals were jammed with people dying of covid. They secretly plotted with china and unleashed the virus on us, gave us free money to stay at home while "everything" was closed so they could play the "cruel dictator" for a couple of months.
  2. Not long ago, I could not go to a movie theater. Not long ago, I could not go to a restaurant. Not long ago, I could not go to a gym. Not long ago, etc.... Are you a teenage girl that cries about everything being the end of the world?
  3. And thats a problem because the dems might find out which ballots were erroneously sent to people that are dead or in prison and use them to rig the election. Wow. Paranoia takes on a whole new level.
  4. Was it different when he did it in 2004?
  5. So a group conspired using absentee ballots (which trump has said is fine), but mailing in your vote to avoid the risk of covid infection is wrong?
  6. Note that you said in canada. In canada???? Canada! C!
  7. Everyone votes on the same day. Why does so and so get a day off to vote and I can't? Is it fair that one person can vote while another one can't? Should employers give everyone a day off to vote then?
  8. I would blame trump if a hurricane had hit Alabama.
  9. I'm sure he'd put the dems at the top of that list, as usual. The dems are to blame for everything nowadays, even the weather!
  10. My nephews were learning by distance the whole time, so I don't see how children could miss out on education. Seniors are the highest risk for covid. Would you rather attend her funeral? She could play bridge online i am sure, or invite three friends to her house(or one of them to theirs) We went through all of this in the Spanish flu pandemic so I don't see any reason we cannot today. There was no internet back then. Many people did not have cars or electricity. And they pulled through, after a world war no less. Why would you think I'd have to live like a hermit? I can go out anytime I want, provided I wear a mask. So can you.
  11. The government should also be responsible for our safety and well being. The virus is " under control" because of all the lockdowns and precautions. Sure it would be great if they could eradicate the virus completely, but until a vaccine is produced that is highly unlikely. The government is spending billions on subsidies for employers and workers. Schools are reopening safely. So what's the problem? I'm sure can live without some luxuries for a while.
  12. So if the people got sick can the government refuse to pay for their health care bills if they get sick? Since they refuse to comply with everything and want to live in anarchy I don't see why they shouldn't.
  13. Lol trump pardons a 3 times convicted felon who is running a non profit organization for prisoners. Gee I wonder why that is?
  14. The u.s. was in a huge deficit long before 2008. The debts of the federal government on January 1, 1791 amounted to $75,463,476.52. Not much in today's world, but back then..... I bet the u.s. debt will be a huge problem for them in years to come. Japan and China hold the largest amounts of their foreign debt.
  15. Since the dawn of man. https://www.economicshelp.org/blog/797/economics/why-printing-money-causes-inflation/
  16. Printing more money devalues the currency and drastically increases inflation.
  17. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/services/publications/debt-management-report/2017-2018/part-1.html The most current figures I can find are from 2017–2018. As it stands, Canada owes most of its debt to Canadian citizens and Canadian institutions (about 68%). Non-residents own about 32% of Canada’s debt. Rather than borrowing from banks, the government typically borrows from the market, primarily pension funds and insurance companies. These companies lend money to the government by buying the bonds that the government issues for this purpose.
  18. https://khn.org/morning-breakout/attempts-at-herd-immunity-not-working-in-sweden-evidence-shows/ Experts. You can have one expert say a and one expert say b, another says x, yadda yadda. At the end of the day Sweden has a death rate per population far higher than Canada. Look at what happened in the u.s.
  19. OK then let's examine that claim. First, what is an orwellian society? "Orwellian" is an adjective describing a situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free and open society. So the basic idea i gather is that these rules and restrictions are making b.c. an orwellian society. But what happens when they are not? I don't know about everyone else here but my idea of a free and open society does not involve a tube shoved down my throat.....
  20. Yes, thankfully a massive influx never came close thanks to our lockdown and precautions. But that was so draconian of them.
  21. Discuss it to your hearts content. Be sure to discuss how hospitals are supposed to cope with a massive influx of patients, jobs filled when people are lying in a hospital bed and kids left unattended, or even worse as orphans.
  22. But with the strong lockdown measures instituted in March, Health Canada predicted the death range was likely to fall between 11,000 and 22,000 deaths. It then developed models based on between 2.5 per cent and 10 per cent of the population contracting the virus over the course of the pandemic. Thats pretty darn close imo. Of course its all conjecture, but that's the whole point. You cannot honestly believe that if we just went about as we were last year we'd still be at 9000 deaths, can you?
  23. Some still think its a hoax. Apparently the governments of the entire world conspired to give us free money and force us to spend a couple bucks on face masks for some unknown reason.
