  1. Only sunk like a stone in your peanut-sized mind pal. The CPC is ready for an election. There has been a string of minor good news for them lately. A CPC minority would be a definite possibility if an election were held in the fall. Democratic space is a terrible site to reference. But if that is the best you can do it can only mean good things for the CPC.
  2. Why don`t you waste your time on rabble.ca then? Your constant misreading and misrepresenting of polls and articles here on the site isn`t moving any opinion and really shows how lame and vacuous you are.
  3. In the interest of providing a fair picture of the article here is what was said a little further down the page. (Fairness, do one-track mind a**holes like you get that concept mirror?) Hmmm, not the end of the world. Just the regular machinations expected in any party.
  4. Done it repeatedly. He never replies. Please don`t attack me personally and don`t f**king tell me what to do. Oh yeah, never whined or complained about any other poster, just you f*cknuts. How about answering the questions I posed earlier or are you too stupid and simplistic to do that? Because the party you support is full of a bunch of morons who lack the ability to tie their own shoelaces. You resort to insults and putdowns when the utter idiocy of your statments is called to question. Thankfully your mindless little jabs are so meaningless as to have no basis in reality. The CPC is "plummeting" in the wet dreams of mirror. Woo hoo. Thankfully your moronic reading of the polls affects the voting intentions of no one. While the likes of you whine about Wal-mart coming into Canada you secretly shop there because it is the only store offering track pants large enough to fit your rotund arse at a price you can afford on your minimum wage video store job. To quote William Shatner "Have you ever kissed a girl?" "Why don`t you move out of your parent`s basement and get a life?" Sorry about the rant, but I`ll sleep better today knowing you will be crying yourself to sleep as the truth of my post hits much closer to home than you would ever admit publicly.
  5. Not shooting the messenger. If your posts were truly supported it would be fine and supporters of the CPC would be a lot more concerned than we are at the moment. Greg wants this site to be about debate that's fine, let's actually debate then. Please enough with the personal attacks, i.e. whining and moaning. Greg stops some of us from doing, it but just because he gives you free rein doesn't mean you have to resort to that level at every opportunity. There are a multitude of forecasting sites out there. If you are going to fish for a new one everytime you are looking to support your view that is fine, just post a link. When you do post something please be willing to defend it. Simply ignoring it is childish, as are many of your posts. This site is meant to stimulate debate. As I have said earlier I would be more than willing to get into a knock-down drag out name calling session with you but Greg won`t allow people to defend themselves against your attacks. In that vein, could you answer a couple questions? Why does a CROP poll that shows the Conservatives up four points in Quebec from the 2004 election serve as evidence of the CPCs freefall? Where are you getting this concept of a hidden five percent level of support for the Liberals in Quebec? Maybe you could show some pre-election polls that correspond to a five percent jump in Liberal support on election day.
  6. What I am saying is show me how their support is "dropping like a stone". The last poll you quote, the CROP poll, shows them gaining in Quebec. They are up four points there. Yes, I support the CPC but if they really were "dropping like a stone" we wouldn`t see the polls jumping back and forth like they have been. Using terms such as "dropping like a stone" and "freefall" doesn`t accurately portray where the CPC is at here and now. Why do you completely ignore evidence to the contrary when you introduce it to the discussion?
  7. Never said you were a Liberal supporter. However, your posts constantly portay a bias against the CPC. Why is their support in the crapper? Because you say it is? Yet the CROP poll you quote says they are up four points in Quebec, which gives them a realistic chance to win a seat or two in the province. August 1991 said it best about DS. Very precise and utterly useless. One brief example of how useless DS is. They are currently predicting two Liberal seats in Alberta. Kimmy said it, Edmonton - Beaumont has always been a David Kilgour riding. Kilgour left the caucus yet DS is still predicting it as a Liberal win. wtf?
  8. Yawn, You have posted three prediction sites, yet democratic space is the one you constantly refer to because it advances your preconceived notion of the world. Very convenient, yet tiring. Let me know if you want to actually discuss possible scenarios instead of attacking the CPC without support.
  9. Does this plan still include banning oil exports to the U.S., thereby hurting the oil industries and economies of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland in order to make points with virulent anti-Americanism?
  10. How do the Liberals falling from 34% in the 2004 election in Quebec to 29% in this poll move them UP into majority government territory? Hmm, the Conservatives are up four points in Quebec from their result in the 2004 election. If that trend holds nationally their "freefall" will put Harper into the PMO. 13% for the CPC is a good thing. About what they did pre-Mulroney (1979 and 1980) got them one and two seats respectively in those elections.
  11. Your site, your rules. This is getting a little anal though. If you are serious about enforcing the rules power to you. But when you ask people to pm you about offensive posts to you (in order to keep them off the boards) and never acknowlege they have been sent, what does it say about your rules? Food for thought.
  12. In Edmonton.
  13. Ralph never "crossed the floor" in the true sense of the word. As mayor of Calgary he was known as a Liberal, but never actually ran in any election as a Liberal. Don Getty convinced him to run provincially for the PCs and that was that.
  14. The Conservatives had their policy convention in the spring and released their policy declaration on March 19th of this year. Belittle him all you will, but this is the new Conservative party. They do support public health care in Canada.
  15. Trudeau couldn't get a deal during his dying days in office without the notwithstanding clause. No deal would have been better than a bad deal in that case. (To be factually correct, the Premiers wouldn't agree to the guarantees in the Charter without the notwithstanding clause. The notwithstanding clause does not effect the amending formulas in place in either Constitution Act 1867 or 1982). Do explain how a policy that killed the oil patch and threw thousands of Canadians out of work was a high point of Trudeau's administration.
  16. There are a few reasons, but it is very easy for the media to fall into covering a cult of personality. Be it Trudeau, Reagan, Thatcher, Mulroney. It is much easier to focus one's coverage on an individual than on a team. The second reason is ego, pure and simple. National leaders end up with huge egos, some would argue it takes a huge ego to suffer the slings and arrows necessary to make it to the top. Who would want to face PM Dithers wrath when he argued for a campaign focused on Himself?
  17. Yawn. The same socialist rants without any viable issues presented or a rational plan for change. Thankfully Jacko will forever remain in opposition, if he can win his seat again.
  18. The current situation is far from an emergency. Oil prices swing, they are currently on an upswing. They will come back down. We won't be forced to do anything.
  19. I think this affair calls to mind two very big questions. Why does a multi-millionaire like Emery need a legal defence fund? Isn't he really just another example of the rich "man" keeping the people down by taking their money to fund a fight he has ample personal resources to pay for?
  20. Robertson truly is a joke. He says outrageous stuff all the time. The fact that his comments have gotten so much play really indicate how far Bush has slid in the eyes of the U.S. media.
  21. If I read this story right the fiscal imbalance, the difference between what Ontario pays into federal coffers and what it receives back, has jumped from $2 billion to $23 billion in 10 years. That is a 1050% rise over that time period. Anybody know where there is a link to this report? The numbers seem sorta unreal...
  22. Hmmm, the Liberals have proven the damage they will inflict. The Conservatives potential for damage is all illusory scare-mongering that ultimately helps the Liberals. How much of the "difference" Jack made has been implemented so far? Zero. What you say none of it will be instituted before February 2006 when Martin has promised the next election? Boy what a great difference indeed.
  23. I didn't realize she was sitting as a co ND-Liberal member of parliament. Oh wait she isn't.
  24. Trudeau was swept into power in 1968 because people were longing for somebody they could trust after years of not really liking Pearson or Diefenbaker. His first majority was pretty much consumed with the October crisis. After that he began his big push for bilingualism, one of his two real lasting legacies. Which corresponds with the basic death of the Liberal parties fortunes on the prairies for the rest of his time in active politics. He was never a true national leader again. Which was proven with the NEP. Don't even get me started on that one. He lost in 1979 because people weren't really happy about the way he had handled the economy - high deficits, high unemployment, high inflation. After the loss he announced his retirement. Joe Clark bungled his parties first budget, lost a non-confidence vote and Trudeau stuck around for one more election. Truedeau won another majority and took this as a mandate to repatriate the constitution. Hampering us with the imperfect Constitution ACt 1982. Trudeau rammed it through in a vain search for a legacy. The exclusion of Quebec from the signing of the document and the notwithstanding clause of the charter will be Trudeau's lasting legacy on this issue.
  25. Rumour is there was a second dinner for less "affluent" supporters. 1,000 people at $250 a plate or something along those lines. Can anyone confirm this? Am in the ballpark for number of attendees? Ticket price?
